like i said i kinda understand for some of the checks but if somebody truly wants........ they are gonna get regardless of forms and fee's i guess that is a mute point. on the other hand....i can see a restriction on the big bad military type firearm but a henry rifle?
-
deer almost look's like a deke? i know that pic shows alot of summer type growth but still...... the eye looks weird. same for the way the hind leg that is behind the (as deer is facing your left) right rear leg looks really strange. all in all an impressive deer and by november would be a brute.

well said elmo (tipping my hat to you sir) well said

what the hell is up with that BS and here i thought that at my age walking into the basspro shop and getting a shotgun but having to show proof of age and a back ground check was nuts. sorry for those of you that live in the BIG city. kiss my rear end i think i would find a friend of a friend that lived across town and........ just plain nuts imho. now that i settled down a bit........ i understand the need i guess for a background check? but to make a person get finger printed (last i knew all of this is kept on record at birth) pay for that ink blot and then turn around and pay another fee for the application......? no wonder why folk's that live in the CITY are so pissed all the time

a skunk cannot spry unless it's hind legs are braced (firmly pushing againt the ground) of course i have never tested this theory but it sounds like a really good idea lol

lol like i said i was looking at the DEC web site and this was as close as i got for the proper disposal of a carcass.... unless you look at the fishing reg's wich are actually more in depth. as for your (local) laws????????? example.. city of Auburn trash is to placed in clear bags... begining at 5am of day of pickup. large items (sofas beds ect... you have to purchase a large item pick up tag ($10.00) in order for it to be hauled away. like i said at the state level the law and or rules are very slim where at the local level...... best of luck to ya.

well at least the NY DEC can rest easy tonight knowing that hunters actually use the website for purposes other then finding out about future hunting date's

looking at dec website now and as far as disposal of carcass the main concern is in a area with known CWD . Part 189: Chronic Wasting Disease (Statutory authority: Environmental Conservation Law, §§ 3-0301, 11-0325, 11-1905) [Last amended January 11, 2012]

(g) Disposal of carcasses and parts. No person shall dispose of carcasses and parts of animals of the Genus Cervus or the Genus Odocoileus or the Genus Alces in a CWD containment area, except those parts removed in the field during normal field dressing, unless such parts shall be disposed of in a landfill authorized pursuant to Part 360 of this Title. Transfer or treatment of the waste prior to disposal, at a facility authorized pursuant to Part 360 of this Title, is acceptable

after taking this deer the gut pile remained in the wood's. the following day nothing remained of the pile but a dark wet stain in the leaf litter. what was left after the skinning and 1/4ing was the ribcage and what is shown in the pic. i have disposed of the carcass at times by bringing it back to the wood's and also by putting it into garbage bag's. for me it depends on the amount of time i have (am i going back to the wood's the next day or is it going to be a few day's) seeing how i butcher the deer in my home i keep the head for euromount with the tag still in the ear. after the head is skinned i keep the tag attached to one package of meat in the freezer. disposing of the deer at curbside is kinda expected during deer season. the only time this came into question for me was after skinning and butchering 5 deer. garbageman called it in and local leo came by to ask about it. once it was shown (proven) that all deer where legally taken there was no longer a issue. that being said check with not only DEC but also your local trash hauler because some local ordinace does change from city to county to town as well as independent haulers.

What to do with the carcass?
sidewinder replied to Stretcher Guy's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
this will be the bundle that will be taken back to the wood's and left for the yote's coon's and other critter's minus the head of course. that will be skinned out and turned into a euro mount. -
the look on my daughter's face at this moment is how i feel everytime i start to think about the up coming seasons

dude that sucks. on the plus side however you did get permission to hunt some new land. best of luck to you with your truck and keep thinking about new stand locations.

looking forward to this upcoming fall season. saw this group crossing the road not far from where i set up. turkey population in this area 7J is very high right along with the pressure at least more pressure over the past 5 to six years.

lol sorry about that confusion last night. settings on putter where down so i saw nothing but black and grey.now that i can see properly im sorry about that did not mean to give you bad advise.now in that corner of G8 i see a creek that starts in marsh area 1 and ends in your legal hunt area. might be a good place to start poking around. also that logging road runs up inbetween two hills. look into that small bend in that hill G4 just below that small field. just my opinion and good luck to you.

Easier way to get the meat off a squirrel??
sidewinder replied to apoallo's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
sorry as i was typing away i left out the importent part. you brown the meat 1st and after the meat is browned you seperate the meat from the bones. im sorry if the directions were bad. in the future i will read my responce before i post it lol -
looks like a fair piece of property i just took a look and if it was me playing living room decorator i would look at the following 1. the outer area of marsh 1) 1,2,3G followed by 3H and 4i 2. marsh 2) 6 and 7A 3.with a bow the corners of 7i and 8H the rest of the area looks to have dips draws and what not. get yourself a topomap that will show you the correct elevations and the more dramatic pinch points and also any water rout even if it is only a creek bottom. imho i would look around the wet(marsh area) for a creek bottom and a nice saddle (point between two hills) for a possible stand set up. best of luck to you.and hope this helped some. ps. dont worry about a food plot just yet.get in there and do some scouting to see how the land lays and where any deer might get their eats from. worry about food plot's next spring if the property works out for you.

Easier way to get the meat off a squirrel??
sidewinder replied to apoallo's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
mmmmmmmmmmmm im gettin hungry. ok back to the basic's. take 2or 3 squirrel's and 1/4(quarter) them. lil bit of butter and a couple slices of bacon(slab is best but processed will do) in a fry pan and brown the meat. take the meat out of the pan and let cool for about 5 min....save the grease(drippings) from the pan for later. pull the meat from the bones and cruble the bacon then set to the side. make yourself some taters, rice, egg noodles,or any other form of pasta. with the dripping's bring back to a low simmer(boil) and add a mix of water(cold tap) and flour(corn starch works better) seasoned with a bit of pepper. slowly add the water/flour mix to the pan with the dripping's while contantly stirring(this is the important part) do NOT walk away. stir together in the pan until you remember what grandma's gravy looked like now add in the rest of the meat and just let it go for about 45 min or so. depending on how thick you made that gravy you may have to add water(tablespoon) at a time so that id dont burn(think of making a stew with a heavy sauce after the cooking time you will have what looks like gravy with meat in it. turn off the heat... give it a stir one more time for luck and serve over the tater's,rice,ect...ect...ect. good luck and all's i can tell you is...........DONT FORGET THE BACON. -
welome pull up a log and set awhile

so if one eye is for distance and the other is close up........... i will go with the idea that when you aim you either use both(keep both eyes open) or do you still use your dominate eye for aiming? i am right eye dominate so would this mean i would use my left to see close and my right to see distance? i like the idea of the lenses but im just a bit confused?
