Merry Xmas!!

that seems like a great priceive heard about putting that matting down before. But i wonder how crazy i should go with the matting and how deep considering its really only for recreation, not many cars and trucks will drive on it throughout the year... few times a month really so how crazy in depth and construction should i really do?

what is the going rate to have a gravel driveway put in 12x100' or so? I was under the impression it was a few hundred bux? Anyone know someone in the Otsego area that can do one for a good price?

i have an accepted offer right now, havnt said anything yet... BUT just trying to get a jump on some researching here. Hi guys, I am just trying to research my options here. If all else fails i will just build a cabin myself. I was wondering if anyone knows of any type of prebuilt cabins or mobile homes for sale for a hunting/recreational camp and howmuch are they going for? Any info would be great. i am not finding to much here.... thanks!

Doc i wouldnt even bother... lol i have often done things sometimes that would send deer run for the hills but i have still saw deer in those instances. Do i believe if i do that every sit i will continue to see deer? prob not.. is there a chance that while doing what i did i sent deer the other way? absolutely... Deer are simple creatures of habit and are very very intune with their habitat. I dont think what myself or Doc are stating is change what you do and do as we do, we are simply adding to thread as asked from the OP.... whoever smokes, smoke! lol i dont care what you do, as long as your safe doing.... if smoking works for you then by all means smoke away. just paint a picture in the back of your head and emagine what YOU ARE NOT seeing while smoking vs what your are. If you really think what you see is the only deer near, your crazy and if wind conditions are not JUST RIGHT at that critical moment in time when the few of you harvested a nice buck smoke in mouth then id say the odds are against you weather you want to admit it or not. BTW, hey if i had an addictive habit i could not break then id come up with every positive possibility as to why its ok and doesnt phase deer also lol. but i dont and i will always maintain smoking in the woods will affect deer one way or another weather guys kill deer every season or not.... its just my .02 and im sticking to it fellas. but like i said do what works for you guys and who cares really

Drop? that seems very early... i wonder if its last season sheds? and id get back out there John if you could, you never know whats walking within a 30-40 yard radius around your tree that your cam is not getting. Thats how my head thinks sometimes lol

wow you guys left the hide on for that long? i would have taken that off the day it was shot... i have my deer hanging in the shed with the hide off for a few days. i have been sick the past few days so i did not butcher it yet. i did do the front qauters the other night. mine is in my shed, no light and its been very cold lately tho

i have 2 skulls from last season i have to do, so dont use bleech? i was going to bleech em for a few minutes lol. now ill have to look into this

also after smoking prior before entering the deer woods and touching branches on the way in or particles of clothing touching branches and so on. You think deer cant smell a foreign smell and dart out before you even see them? i descent to the max and even with that one can never be 100% scent free and i still had deer smell the exact leaves i stepped on while entering my stand. Now throw smoke in the equation and you think it doesnt alert a deer in any way? thats silly lol

know it alls? its common sence.... since your a smoker you should know how smoke practically smells worse in the cold then having a smoke in warmer weather. Ever smell someone during winter months after having a smoke? it reaks. Problem is most smokers DO NOT smell a difference or are even phased by the smell of smoke so just because you arent doesnt mean a deer isnt either. Being a know it all has nothing to with it.

lol thanks guys Pete great idea... im in, this year was pushing close to the season to get guys to commit to it. But in the spring i bet we can get some guys together.

i know deer pay no mind to distant smoke from fireplaces or wood stoves but cigerewtte smoke and wood smoke are not similar, at least not to me...

to al lthe guys who say they kill deer and smoke the wind must be just right.... i highly doubt a deer will come in on your down wind side with a butt in hand and if it does i doubt that deer will commit to still come in... i just cant see it and im sure their are alot of guys who smoke and kill deer and i bet most pay no mind to wind and its coincidence they killed deer and some play wind to support the smoking habbit. lol glad i dont smoke tho, id rather not give any more of and an advantage to a deer to pick my location out anymore then they already can!

thanks guys! yeah putting away some meat was the plan. To all who still intends on going out, i have noticed quite a few Doe just are not quite in yet as far as estrous is concerned. Atleast where i am... Seems like there will deff be some late stragglers which can push out some good rutting activity to the near end of the season. The glands on my doe and the others she was with were snow white. Its usually a tall tell sign that a doe is not quite in heat yet. When they are dark its a different story. My doe was not fully mature she was a medium doe and i was surprised to see them still white. the more mature doe in my area were dark weeks ago. the past week the big boys have been coming out goodluck guys!

well i christened the new bow this weekend with a Doe. Figured id punch a tag after what feels like a long season of passing on alot of bucks. didnt want to end the season empty so i figured why not take a Doe. 20 yard shot quartering away, the rage ate the ribs up in and busted the shoulder out complete pass through. That MR5 and those rages were a leathal combo she went 40 yards from the shot in a hurry but couldnt hold it, ended in seconds... Atleast i have some meat now, im happy. Goodluck to all whos still at it.
