  4. drilling for gas on the property brings in some extra coin to the land owner correct? i am in no means looking to make money off the property and i would hate to have anyone driling anywhere near the land i end up buying... i want to keep this land for hunting and recreational purposes only. somthing that i can have to retreat to for a little get away and to manage for hunting season. thats really it. i appriciate all the info so far guys! keep it coming.

  8. Hi guys, I am currently in the market for a hunting property. Has anyone recently purchsed their own property that they can refer me to a realter they have used. Or does anyone have any info or advice on purchasing hunting properties? i have been following the market and looking at properties for about 10 months on and off. I put it off for a few months but i am looking for property in, Sullivan, Delaware, Broome, Otsego, Chenago or anywhere within a 4 -5 hour drive from LI. i just want to hear some others personal experiences with their purchase, who they used and what county. im persoanlly looking for 10 - 50 acres (60k) max... also if anyone can tell me any info in possiblly buying a forclosed land or short sale, has anyone done this? experiences and how too's. thanks for any help and advice on this guys! Geno
  9. lol i wish i could have that much land... yeah it seems to be a great price. beleive it or not ive found alot of properties in that ball park but not just in Otsego.
  10. WOW thats un real WNY, im glad both your fiance and baby are fine.
  11. i would do like bubba said, it makes sence... id hold out to if thats the route they are taking.
  12. We shall see... i figured it was the economy that was troubling the vendors? i know it cost money to set a booth there and also most have to travel the NE Coast to get there...
  13. found 50 acres in the mid 60s range... looking for around 50 acres, 50 - 60ish. know of any?
  14. i think we are just spinning our wheels with some guys conveying the wrong in the video... We all know where the video stands, some guys just dont see the wrong in it and id say thats fine but i dont think thats the case...
  15. being humane in MY EYES, is showing respect. If i didnt give a s*it like some, i would live my normal life until hunting season and just go in the woods and try to kill something and not really care the shape of my gear. a defition of resect is "regard highly, think much of" did the indian fall under that catagory as well? im pretty sure they respected the animal that fed them... perhaps you would like to differ? and im not really sure where your going with the deer search comment... but you sound like you agree with the video so keep it at that i guess. i understand your implying you can not respect something you kill, i just dont have to agree with it. its what i beleive...
  16. thats not to far from lewis county right? yeah thats way to far for me... i was looking at land there during the summer, it seems the further north you go the price drops drastically compared to the luxurey of being closer to the city. i guess thats what you pay for really, that luxuery of being a few hours north of the city... nice land up by you tho, just kind of far. prob a 7-8 hour drive from you...
  17. so even tho you hunt deer and kill them, you are trying to imply one can not have respect for the game and animal??? i love these animals just as much as the next avid hunter, i have high respect for the illusive animal i wish to harvest, yes... just because you kill a deer, field dress it and consume it does not mean one can not love and respect the animal he hunts. i respect these animals enough to make MY BEST effort to make sure all of my gear in on the money, sited in and ready to go, practicing throughout the year also to ensure the right placement of my arrow or bullet. Its the ones who show lack of respect who go in the woods to shoot a deer on an un sighted gun or faulty equipent to persue this animal are at fault for the lack of respect. everything you do to better yourself and odds as a hunter also falls into the same catagory as trying to carry out your job fast and easy for the game, or the best you can do. Not just sling arrows and let bullets sail in the air in hopes of hitting something... No disrespect Blur but what i get from you is your love for the sport and respect for the animal is not there???
  18. yeah i figured owning land with another person might be difficult as it is 2 different personalities. im with ya on keeping it simple, it is the whole logic on a little get away really... im more into wanting to own some of my own land and have a small retreat, something rustic and simple, i just want to be able to manage my own land and deer herd along with making food plots and just really making the land i own a place for retreat and a place where the deer hunting will be good. Do you have any land by you you know of that is forsale? ive been looking all over the NY map, literaly. not looking to go more then 5-6 hours or so away from the island.
  19. I am looking at some land in Otsego and i was just wondering if anyone else hunts or lives there? Hows the deer hunting and what not over there? Its maybe 15 minutes north of coopertown... thanks guys
