Going to give it another 30 minutes or so.. nothing moving here except a squirrel at around 730, came to about 5 feet from me, buried an acorn and haven't seen him since. Going to head back out around 4ish see if i can get lucky for dinner . Im surprised its so quite this morning, figures it would be a parade of deer today

All set here, back agaisnt a tree. Had to choose different spot, first one taken by someone else, had bright red light shine on me. I like this spot, just don't like being on ground

i havent gotten to get out yet due to work and todays weather. Where in 3n are you? i am in 3n as well and was going to go out tomorrow for either turkey or deer havent decided what yet.

So I have seen a few of these pop up the last few days, and have been thinking of making a thread. With the purchase of a new shotgun im hoping to be out a good amount this season for different species, depending on work lol. I have plans to hunt deer, turkey and maybe a little yote hunting. I have always wanted to do duck or goose but I have no spots or anyone to "show me the ropes" on birds so for now im just studying up on that topic. Since I am a few days late for this season i will start oct 1-4 in this post. Oct 1 2014 Worked until 5, couldnt make it out for a PM hunt Oct 2 2014 Same as the 1st Oct 3 2014 Worked until 5, but stopped in the woods on the way home to scout an old spot i haven't used in a while, pushed 2 does from a thicket. Oct 4 2014 Woke up at 4:30, heard rain hitting window, checked weather and it wasn't supposed to stop until around noon. Went back to sleep woke up again at 8ish walked to the back porch, it was worse then at 4:30. Went back to bed lol. Woke up at 11, slight drizzle but looking good to go out. I have already decided however that im going to do a PM scout. I will bring most of my gear with me but no plans on shooting anything unless its a monster. Tomorrow is my day lol Here is a picture of the spot i plan to hunt tomorrow, boy do i wish i had a treestand already.

Today is the first chance ive had to get out this season, decided to hold off and do a pm hunt. But doesnt look like the rain will give me a chance today. Tomorrows supposed to be good though, 38ish at sun rise and high of mid 50's all day

Just took a walk through a spot that i haven't used in a while, pushed up 2 does. Might try the spot on sunday or next weekend. Unfortunately i was on the way back from work and didn't have my bow with me.

For the weather, if its not downpouring im in the woods. Today would have been perfect, bit hazy with light drizzles all day. But i know in my part of NY here, putnam, i see 8 out of 10 bucks a year is a yearling or hats barely 4 points. I kind of agree to this. Not saying the hunting is bad in NY but i agree with what they say about NY. (in New York, you pay extra for your bowhunting “privilege”). I was just saying this yesterday, we are "privileged" to bow hunt! Here you go hunters of NY you've been doing so good this year, you've earned it. PLEEEEASE.

I have had it for years now, so its pretty well tuned for myself. I have a few goodies on it, a truglo stabilzer, a few string silencers. Its not to loud but compared to modern bows it is. I had the strings done about 2 years ago, could have them done again. Here are some pics.

Thats what i always thought, but the guy at gander suggested the sabots, i question it but got em anyway cuz they were 20% off. Then i googled and youtubed it and got many mixed things. I am going to use the Remingtons Slugger rifled slugs

Theres been a spike running around here for a few months now, the spikes are at least 4-6 inches. If noone gets him i think hes gunna be nice in the next year or 2

Hey all, I have a darton 300wx. It was my first bow back when i first started hunting around 16-17. I have only been out about 3 seasons though and havent had much luck. I am posting this to find out if anyone else has had or knows anyone that has used this bow. It is an old bow, not sure exactly when it was made. I put a few things on to quite her up as she was pretty loud when releasing the arrow. Hey all, just bought a H&R pardner for deer season this year. its got a 26inch smooth bore barrel. I have heard mixed things about using sabot slugs in smooth bore. I have heard a few people have no issue, while others say the sabot flys sideways through smooth bore. I bought 5 hornady sabot slugs and 5 remi regular slugs. What are yalls thoughts?

like apoallo said, with that range of price you have tons of options. look to see if theres any elite dealers near you. imho i think they are best on the market.
