Nice bird! I still have hope for a second bird but it IS waning..................................<grin>

Funny thing, bales of hay worked pretty darn good for years!! I's also say get a bag or block of some sort. I've been using a "Block" for many years and it still has a couple firm spots left.

Wouldn't surprise me.

Note the part about Ma Nature having things square.

So I'm just coming up to the edge of a big plowed field, I glance out for a quick scan of the field and see a fox. I slide over to the woods and stand next to a big tree. The fox is on a mission and starts heading my way in a hurry. I pull out my Iphone and flip it to the video mode. As he/she gets closer I hit the switch to record (or so I thought!) and as it got nearer I saw it had an egg in its mouth. The fox gets withing 10 feet and spots me. Game over, drop the egg and beat feet!! I then notice that I did not hit the record button. Damnnnnnnnnnnnn! I walked over to the still unbroken TURKEY egg and snap a picture. Well, that's one turkey that ain't gonna make it now. Mother Nature sure has things worked out...................................... (That's a 3.5" 12ga shell for perspective)

Have any fresh pics of your pooch? I snapped a couple quickies this morning. Post 'em up! From the porch...... She can even entertain herself.....

I rather sleep until 6:15, have two cups of decaf, water my flowers & veggies, read the local rag, fix the damn tail light on my wife's van, eat eggs & toast then cruise the local web forum. (All done) Maybe I'll wash my truck in a bit, go to the shooting club, p/u propane on the Rez and hit Wegmans for some grub. Wifey has to work so the weight of the world is square on my shoulders today. Ahhhh screw it, I'm going to Tim Horton's for a cup of full strength to kick things in a higher gear...........

Nice! Wrap those babies each year so the bucks don't derail your plan! -
Boy do I hate a liar................ I never heard a peep until 8:30am, from probably 3/4 mile away. Two very faint gobbles non the less. I sat on that SOB until I glanced at my watch (phone) and saw that it was 9:37am and I had a 11:00am job in Clarence with a 50 minute ride home, 15 minutes to brush the choppers/change clothes/change vehicle and make a 15 minute drive to the job. I busted out of the woods, jumped in the truck and headed north. I got to the job by 11:15am, all is good!

Good deal. The 243 is also really great for women too. Certainly not a mans gun though..........

Well done Growie! Sleeping in tomorrow?!?! -
Genesee County, not Wyoming. If it is anything like the REST of WNY, I'm sure the birds have lock jaw there also. <grin>

I'll kill one tomorrow. Pretty bold claim if I don't say so myself. Confidence never hurts...............!!

SOB........my friend from Arcade (where I hunted TODAY!). called around 8:30 tonight, a gobbler has been hollering for the last 15 minutes up in back of his house! I can't hunt tomorrow so he'll have to wait. Maybe I'll look for him Saturday...........damn it all.............
-
Get out of here, NO WAY? Looking at those animals I'd have guessed that right from the get go. Too bad but it is what it is, hopefully they are happy with the outcome.
-
I recall the first one I saw in NYS although I'm not positive of the year. Probably 1978-1982 or so. I was at our country home in Canadice and it soared very low over our heads. I'm sure it was one of the early breeding pairs from Hemlock Lake.

I heard one in Ontario County on Tuesday and zip today in Wyoming County. You could hear for MILES both days. The one I heard on Tuesday out smarted me pretty bad. Made me look like a rank amateur................ I hunted Wyoming County last week one day and heard two gobblers, both on posted property. I tried to suck 'em onto my side of the road but they wouldn't go for it. Neither one was heard today.
-
I'll be dipped. What county are you seeing them in?
-
I've got friends in bot Wyoming and Ontario Counties that have seen them a few times in the past couple months. One even became the subject of a painting as it sat perched on a road killed deer carcass.

Nice! A woodchuck in a plowed field? Odd............. What County are you in?
