Looking for some lost guns near Sackets Harbor
Lawdwaz replied to RangerClay's topic in General Chit Chat
Damn, what a bummer. I bet it'll all work out. Do you have to sign in at that club, if so look at the roster and see who was there and ask some questions. Fingers crossed..................................................... -
Incredible Trail Cam Photo (Death On A Log Crossing)
Lawdwaz replied to WestchesterBowman's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Was that from "A sand County Almanac"? -
Saw two adults hanging out behind a nursing home in Clarence today, strutting for each other. Fags...............................<grin>

You guys killed a few this year in the fields. Did you use blinds on all of them?
-
You know the funny thing is, yesterday morning I stuffed a Remington in the chamber and the two remaining Federal's in the magazine. The Rem's don't shoot near as good as the Fed's but I won't blame it on that. (This time!)AND I'll update the box this Friday at noon. (Grin)

Congrats. Did be shoot it in the field?

But, but.........I was going to swing my legs over after I dropped the gun and THEN bring the gun back up on a knee but he appeared out of the shadows & fog. <grin> I ain't looking for shoulda, woulda or coulda............just sympathy and a little feedback on optical crutches for FU's. Happy Memorial Day and thank you for your service if you served.

Yes (That is what you wanted to hear, right?) Trust me.....................

I'm in a slump and need help! I blew it again yesterday. I worked a bird (s) for 90 minutes, moving three times to get them comfortable enough to commit. I was set up for the shot and they were inside of 60 yards and still out of sight but gobbling real strong. If they came straight in like I had it written up, all would be good because the gun was up and on my knee. Well, the pricks didn't read the plan and went silent for three or four minutes then the adult gobbled at 3:00 off my right shoulder. I dropped the gun to my lap and before I could swing over, I spotted the fan coming, soon followed by the blue head. Then, all of a sudden here come two jakes, straight at me, son of a B...... Now I'm in trouble. The gun is on my lap, pointing towards the Boss and the jakes are closing fast. The Boss goes behind a big tree but I can't pull up because the jakes are at 15 yards and all eyes.......... Ok, letting the big boy keep coming until he is totally in the clear and close then just pulling up and shooting fast is my only move. The jakes are standing and starring at me and now the adult is too, he is 30 yards, maybe...... I make my smooth move; pull up and shoot. Swing and a miss. My gut hurts from this, twice in a season, twice in my years as a turkey hunter. So, what do you guys recommend, red dots (where I'm leaning) scopes or fiber optic sights? Practice with my standard beads? Golf or fishing? Let me have it, I'm all ears and can take a public beating and it IS warranted,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Pretty damn late in the spring for THAT stuff........I hope my handful of stuff doesn't take a hit. Is it really going to be colder than the past couple nights?
-
OK, if you must. GOOD LUCK!!

Well done, Joe!!

I'd be thinking about sleeping in, go to Tim Horton's for coffee then head to Wegman's for a turkey breast!

I'm sure your only KIDing Elmo........... Congrats on the pending arrival of your baby! First one? My daughter was born November 13th. I was there for EVERYTHING. But...........after my wife and daughter were discharged, I barely slowed the truck down as I left them off at the curb and beat feet for camp. Killed a real nice 9pt a couple days later.

What's the latest Date you Killed a turkey in May?
Lawdwaz replied to SplitG2's topic in Turkey Hunting
Last year Pennsylvania went to all day hunting after the 15th (?) of the month. My buddy killed a nice adult late in the day in Tioga County, PA after the change. I'm pretty sure the latest I ever killed one is the 30th. I blew it on a dandy one year on the 31st though. I had 3-4 jakes walk past me within 10 yards and the boss gobbler finally came in and he had me too rattled and I shot to soon........oh do that sting! -
5 months for me......... Chewed many years ago, probably from about '79 until '92?? or so. Smoked cigars from about 1976 (age 15) until January 2013. 37 years of serious enjoyment. I quit when I was diagnosed with Barrett's disease in January. I did have 4 one weekend in March while out of town but they tasted like shiit anyway. So far, so good.

Family Guy is on my DVR, but you knew that already..............<<grin>>

I've killed all of 1 (ONE) fall turkey in my 31 or 32 years of turkey hunting in NYS. I have no interest in hunting fall turkey because of bow hunting deer but have had a shotgun & turkey gear in the truck just in case many times but never pull it out as the fire ain't there..................... The one bird I killed is the only time I ever pulled the gun out and made a call for a fall bird. I suspect many others are in the same boat and would rather bow hunt.
