I was within a few miles of Varysburg this morning. Did you get to go in that big lodge they have? What is it for? It sure looked sweet last spring when I went by.

I'd think in a "wilderness" setting it might be difficult to get a nice fish out and weighed before it becomes dinner. <grin>

IIRC they had to shut down a rest area on the 390/Rt 17 a couple years ago in Stueben County due to a shiit load of Timber Rattlers coming down off the hill. That also happens to be BEAR country.......................

I saw a small snake wolfing down a frog today. I didn't want to mess up his meal so I kept going......... I don't like snakes at all. I thought about them a lot today as I traipsed in & out of real swampy areas then a few dry rocky places. That snake Mike posted above would freak me RTFO. Come on Mike, where did you see that dude?

Sweep the floors, empty the trash and dim the lights. The show is over for another year...... I heard a hen early. Walked probably 4-4.5 miles in swampy bug infested woods. I'm sure it was the hottest day I EVER spent in the woods. Normally I FIND weight while hunting, today I lost it. <grin> Messed with a gobbler around 8:30am for about an hour. I thought he was coming but he never gobbled again after 12-15 good responding gobbles in a 10 minute time period. I stuck with it for 45 minutes and then said thanks and beat it.............................

Well, at least the band is playing! Tomorrow is the last day of the 2013 Spring Gobbler Season. I'm planning on going out. After last weeks debacle I'll try and redeem myself and regain some much needed confidence! I won't hit it too hard, just a few hours. My father in law is staying with us tonight so at least I'll miss the early morning breakfast "CF" when he looks for all the ingredients for his oatmeal, raisin toast & coffee meal! Luck to all that head out! PS......Don't forget your bug spray & full face head net.
