Any trail cams? That would have been some cool pics/video

Depends on how big the company. Somebody like dicks can absorb it or they wouldn't offer it. A mom and place selling it wholesale as a perk for working there I would say no. I'd probably just do it for a few friends and family too, not to make a buck. They track your purchases and you'd be out of a job soon. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Read the thread So that's the issue the dec sees and some of the guys in this thread. That bow hunters don't shoot doe. But if I take one with the rifle... What does it matter? That's my point. Who cares if I take a doe with the bow so long as I take a doe. But the DEC obviously does care. Well if it's not that; why the hate?

Haters going to hate. We get labeled as elitist and honestly that doesn't bother me. Almost all bow hunters I know are very dedicated, well trained and knowledgable. Doesn't mean the gun only guys aren't, but generally you have to be good to bow hunt. Those that don't have the patience will quit. So somehow then we get hated on for being successful. A dead doe is still a dead doe though right? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It's pretty shitty a few gun hunters think their fellow hunters deserve what we got. Honestly that hurts even more than the reg itself. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

There are more gun hunters so of course they shoot more. And statistically 95%+ of bow hunters also gun hunt. So what does it matter when I shoot my doe? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

So you're basically agreeing to everything most of us are saying. It's not the hunter or the weapon not doing their job, it's the access. NY has no plan for that as far as I know.

makes me wonder if that's why our yote season isn't year long like many states. The DEC doesn't want us taking them out.
-
I know where you're going with that and I'm not sure I totally disagree. I think society recognizes population control is important and so do most hunters. However, until an animal is endangered I don't think hunting "goes away". The bag limits always adjust to the population size. We're seeing that with turkey right now. A balance between too many and enough to be able to hunt and also not eliminate. Otherwise, wouldn't turkey hunting just be outlawed all together? Wouldn't we ban hunting deer in the NZ? The big argument keeping guns in homes is hunting. Hunting is the very first thing humans did. I might be naive but I think it's a long day before hunting anything is made illegal... regardless of animal numbers. Need to look no further than the draws and permits of the elk, moose, sheep etc out west.

You're still missing the point. EVEN IF ALL BOWHUNTERS SHOT A DOE... statistically would that even matter? Consider too that all tags sold are not in areas where they issue DMP. So how many bowhunters need to shoot doe and how many doe to make the DEC happy? We cannot meet their goal when we do not know what it is. And still the biggest point to be made is why do you a gun hunter not hold some of the responsibility? And can we stop pretending harvesting a doe with a bow is as easy as putting your shoes on in the morning? Most bowhunters work their ass off and still might not even get an opportunity. Yes, some of us are blessed with good land but not all bowhunters do, and frankly arrowing any deer is an accomplishment when you consider what goes in to it.

For christs sake. Better wether for aging gun hunters? Did you really just write that? Try pulling a 70lb bow back in December when you've been sitting for hours I need a deer within 30 yards. You need 300. I need the rut to even maybe get a chance. Ridiculous the entitlement the gun only hunter wants. Don't forget almost all us bow hunters use a gun too.

letting bow hunters in to the burbs or parks will help control deer where they previously have been allowed to go without any hunting at all. It doesn't solve the problem, but it helps. Additionally, harvesting a deer isn't just a walk in the park. It's expensive and/or time consuming and we all don't need 5 deer in our freezer. Donating is fine, but also takes time and money. And honestly, in 8F the problem isn't the corn fields where we all hunt, it's the burbs where we can't hunt. Check out my thread on suburban deer hunting to help understand how some smarter cities are doing it without impacting the bow hunters.

perfectly said! If Last year I took a doe with a bow, the year before with my mz. I still took a doe. It shouldn't matter with what. Honestly I prefer to take them with a gun. First off, my rage heads are $40 for 3. A dozen of my arrows are $170 and the margin of error during bow is much greater than with gun. Finally, I'd like to keep that breeder doe around during the rut. Doe don't roam, so taking the big breeder a week into bow is one less piece of bait I have for the rut. Taking her during gun or mz doesn't hurt me at all. So lets see. Taking doe with a gun is: More probable of a cleaner kill Easier because of range and movement Cheaper Less likely to impact my goal of harvesting a mature buck

No Stubby, You can't assume all super sportsman and sportsman are bow hunters. I know plenty that don't mind the money because they know it goes towards conservation. That's why I said assume those no numbers are a wash. Now also, why would you assume that small/big game license sales are just small game hunters when you can specifically buy a small game license? so again, my argument and out of state numbers are valid. There's at least a 1 to 8 ratio of gun to bow hunters except most of us have admitted we shoot doe... the issue becomes the moral, ethical and down right sh!tty position the state has put us in when a big buck does walk by. Why stink up the woods the first 2 weeks when the deer are only moving for food and risk blowing a stand when you can hunt during the rut? that's the point of not hunting. Yes, we do want to shoot bucks. There's no secret there. It doesn't mean we're not going to also stack some doe.
-
not that it will matter, but there is a contact on that page on the top right corner. I say we let them hear it.
-
that still didn't impact gun hunters and has nothing do with holding a kid in your arm. I just didn't understand the reply.
-
Pygmy I left mz off the list to try and not muck it up. This is for deer only. Sounds like you're a gun guy.

What?

every doe I've ever eaten has been delicious. I've had some pretty tough rutted old bucks.

In my 15+ years hunting deer in NY I have seen the archery rules and regs be changed 4 times. The single and only change to gun season was to move it up to start on the weekend. So I'll believe they will touch the sacred gun season when I see it.
-
Hopefully we can get some good participation. This site is a small sample size I know, but I'd be interested to see how this goes. If I'm missing something let me know.
-
I do believe you, I just think you're in the minority. It may not be the number 1 driver for all hunters. It's not even for me. But to believe they do not matter at all to the majority of hunters I believe is false.

Am I missing the part where "10 years ago" the gun hunter didn't have the opportunity to shoot doe as well? Why is it the bow hunters fault? You DMP's were just as good as mine... and frankly I'm pissed at the anti-bow hunter nonsense in this thread. We're all gun hunters too. We in fact spend probably 2 to 3 times what a gun hunter spends in the woods. So I should be made to feel bad for wanting a nice buck? I drop a doe with the smoke pole and because I didn't fling an expensive arrow and bh at a doe it somehow matters when and with what I did to harvest the doe?
