  1. Oh. Almost forgot to tell you that the buck I got last week was standing in the exact spot as the doe I got exactly one week prior. Shot her on an observation sit. The “accidental doe” gave me clues for how to get my buck. First deer with a bow from a treestand. Normally I’m on the ground. Both were 12 yards directly down wind, right where I said they would never be. [emoji23] Being tagged out before November is … uncomfortable at the moment. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. 2. I’m thrilled that my preparation paid off. This happened exactly as I imagined it would. Trail cam pic was taken the day before I shot him. He’s a “dork deer.” See his overbite? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Problem #1: How to get to treestand without leaving sleeping bag. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Freezing cold with occasional horizontal snow and completely uneventful sit this morning. Followed by freezing cold uneventful until the last possible minute this afternoon. Finally saw deer on this overpressured property. Only problem was they were behind me and then behind me again and then running back and forth across the field like chickens with their heads cut off. They held me hostage in the stand long enough to get me shivering head to toe. Mixed group of 5 with two small bucks, who did some sparring in the field for extra entertainment. That was a long cold day to have to choose not to shoot at the end of my comfortable range. And then to not shoot after legal light. Glad the long cold day and excitement didn’t cause me to make a bad decision. I’m looking for the “win” in this situation. And... looking for my extra warm socks and more firewood. Brrrr!!! 5. If I’m going to hunt in a place that is completely deerless, it may as well be this place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hoping someone travels through here on the way to a friends freezer. Old friend who loaned me a gun for my first three years of hunting can no longer hunt due to age and health problems. Trying to fill his freezer for him. Fingers crossed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. This stand has been iced over since opening of gun season. After fighting my way through a frozen crater filled moonscape I’m sitting in it anyway. I need a deicing system. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Stands are covers in ice. So I’m on the ground. In freezing rain. I’ve had worse. At least I saw deer...between me and the road. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. I find that once I get it sweaty/smelly I can never get it scent free. I think I do...but then as soon as it heats up on my body, it smells again. Also, I noticed a difference between the UA that was too small vs properly fit. The ones I “grew out of” always made me feel cold at some point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. On a hilltop watching a wall of snow approach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I do this as a natural toothbrushing on the way to my spot. I also consider it lucky. I’ve only done it once this season due to a lack of apples at the house, and it was the day I was able to put one in the freezer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
