Sat by the highway noon to sunset and was endlessly harrassed by squirrels.

Ahhhh! Checked my game camera on the way in from this morning's sit. Good news is, my hunch was right, deer highway. Bad news is, I was in the wrong spot this morning!!! Now I'm completely confussed about where to go this afternoon. Will more deer be traveling the same direction? or did I miss them all. Drat!

Thanks, Belo. I am one of many idiots giving "orders." Even bosses have bosses. :-/ There are good days. This is just not one of them.

Just now, I found myself yelling, "WHERE IS THE WHINE FORUM!!!" Here it comes... Ready...? ... I'm so sick of accommodating others and working with the politics at work. I'm dangerously close to letting folks know exactly how I feel. Take a moment...imagine this screamed in frustration. ... ... ."... Those idiots who think they can fit 25 hours of work in a 24 hour day ... and they wonder why you question them... Those idiots who are so committed to getting ahead that they dig holes as a means to climb the ladder,.. And then look at you like a cat in a tree when you tell them, "I think maybe you should come down on your own." Those idiots, of which I may be one, who say, "Give ME the extra responsibility. I can handle this better that the former idiot in this position!" And then bail out as deadlines are being missed and things are going down the tubes. (BTW, me? Not bailing on anything I agreed to and bailing folks out left and right. You're welcome, Slackers.) This is why I hunt. Hunting is my excuse to sit in the woods, without any of these people dictating what I do or how I do it, ... and just be. ... I look forward to Friday, my next day in the woods. I hope I have the wisdom to not check my email while I'm out there. In the meantime... Thank you. You have given me a safe place to vent that is not connected to work. You have, perhaps, just saved my job. ... Thank you.

Theres nothing like hearing your neighbor shoot at 7:01 as you're getting ready for work.

Hoping for some of your luck to wear off on me, grow. Heading back out now.

Pretty sure there's a wormhole in my woods. Deer keep walking into it right before they get to my lane. At least they are no longer invisible.

Why is there stinky hand sanitizer in my pack? And why did I sit on it? And how many deer did I clear from the woods before I noticed it? My guess is that deer in 3 counties can smell it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

The sound of falling snow. Soooo welcome after all the wind I've been hearing lately. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Finally the stubbornness pays off. Filled a doe tag. Still leaning toward crazy though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Things are piling up at work while I sit here wondering if this stubbornness will pay off or if I'm just crazy. Leaning toward the latter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

I'm blaming last year's harsh winter. Deer were starving all around us. Add to that the fact that I can walk into the woods and see more coyote tracks than deer tracks ... I'm going to be very lucky to get anything this year I think.

Neighbor pushed two out to me this am. One at Mach 10 the other stopped ten yards.... Behind me. !!! Drat. Back out in the ground blind wearing everything I own. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Kept warm by creeping around the thick brush where they've been hiding out during the wind. Managed to locate deer, but no good shots. Got covered with an inch of snow that seemed to come down all at once. Amazing! And it packed in hard around my sights. I was cracking up at how covered in snow I was. Decided to just plop down by the trail and see if anyone wandered by until I couldn't get my fingers to warm up.

There's a beautiful fog here this morning, the kind I shot my first deer in. And I'm working today, from home. This is torture! I'm closing all the curtains.
-
BTW He was the first deer I've seen on my land while hunting since October first.

This is my traditional shoot a doe day. The whole county must have heard me crunching into the woods this morning. I sat waiting in the stand for the does to come in from the fields and make their way to a bedding are that is in front of me...and yes..ever so slightly downwind of me. I figure this is ok, since they will be coming into it and will need to get past me first. I didn't see or hear any does and it was approaching 9:00. I thought, I could get down and make it to work. Just then see was Mr. Wide pop out of the bedding area 60 yards out. Saw him raise his head and catch the wind. Dang it!!! He escaped off into the thick stuff and then I have the pleasure of listening to him circle around me toward the field edge. At least I have seen him in person and he is as impressive as he was in the foggy trail cam pic. I also know that he causes quite a bit of buck fever with his presence. Warming up and perhaps heading out toward the back field this time.
-
Yep, you were there for good reason. I hope I never see anything like that.

If it's too crunchy to walk quietly, raining and/or stupid cold I opt for a ground blind. Otherwise, I like to attach a thermarest to my pack and still hunt to an ambush spot just off a trail. Sit against a tree, in a blowdown, on a blowdown...whatever makes sense for the wind and a good backstop for a shot. I put up my first treestand this year and sat in it only once during bow season. I keep saying I'm going to use it. But everytime I go out I change my mind.

Congrats! Love bear stew!

The weather is changing quickly. Keep an eye on it if you're out for an evening sit. They are calling for thunderstorms. Depending on your source, some say there is a possibility of tornados developing in WNY.

Playing a game where I whisper, " where are the deer?" And then i hear a shot in the distance. Oh. So that's where they are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

I had a chance to do this yesterday. I thought about it...and then thought I was crazy for even thinking about it. Maybe if it were a shorter tree. ...like 3 feet high.

Note to self...timer on coffee pot does not automatically adjust for daylight savings time.

You'd be amazed what photoshop can do. I'm afraid I don't believe this one. I'd like to be proven wrong though.
