Wow. Nice..is the buck you were telling me about yesterday.
-
I got them all over down here in my area..lot's of hot scrapes are really getting some action.
-
I rattled in two small 8 pts today-one right after sunrise (he just appeared in front of me)-never heard him coming..and another small 8pt at 7:45 am..a couple soft to med, grunts and then hit the rattle bag for a little bit--they are curios and they come in..also rattled a small 6 pt a couple days ago in the evening when it was real windy out--I was hunting hot scrapes and rubs at the time and hunting oak flat this morning..pretty exciting..all deer stayed out 40-50 yards.
-
nice morning--rattled in a small 8pt just after sunrise and rattled in another small 8pt at 7:45am. Pretty exciting morning. Both stayed out about 40-50 yards.

heard one single shot this morning in Clarksville-Cuba area
-
congrats-nice when a plan comes together..sounds like hunting the the hot sign paid off
-
no frost in my neck of the woods today-I'm up on hill-have not been down in valley yet
-
Update: Turnips coming up pretty good on my recently logged property--road system towards bottom growing the best and top landing growing a little slower and patchy..seems to be a little yellowing on the top landing portion. The recent rain really helped shoot things up.

Thanks Fantail, we are very happy with results and made a little money to help with other projects we have going on. Can't wait to see full results years from now.
-
Also just had my small piece logged. Guys did a great job, they took some larch for the amish, some cherry and ash saw logs for the mill and plenty of firewood. They put a great road system in for me that lets me sneak around property with a road to bottom and a cutover road 1/2 way up hill. Just planted some turnips in the log landing, and also threw some seed down on the road system and area where larch was removed. We kept all tops and had my the logging crew create natural top fence to create funnel. Plenty of tops for deer and bear to hide in. Can't wait to see area grow up in the next couple years.

I'm also looking for the same except in allegany county (cuba-clarksville area)-I found a pretty cool manufacture in MO called Gastineu (oakloghomes) but would be nice to find something local. Thanks

Been chasing whitetails since my father in-law got me into it back in Eastern OH when my wife and I first got married over 18 years ago. Started off with a slug gun and cross bow and could not get enough--got into driving deer with some friends when we had a little bit of land and really looked forward to getting in the back of the pickup truck and the leader dropping us off and us walking in and posting or beating the brush...that was a blast. Then the deer drives really didn't happen anymore and we moved to Northwestern PA where I started bow hunting..man I was really hooked..back then when I got my 1st 6 pt with a bow I thought it was a monster..and I had to have it mounted , ended up moving south for awhile and tried hunting in the FL-south GA area and this really sucked as I was not use to hunting the high temps--didn't make sense for me to be sweating sitting in stand. Moved back up north got some property in Western PA area and started helping manage about 600 acres of my uncle and friend's properties...this was the best -----watching the deer prosper from food plots, winter feeding and logging. I have to say this was my favorite place ever to hunt, I knew more about the land and where the deer bedded than the actually owners of all the land, then I lost my job and we had to sell our place. We moved to the Philadelphia area and it was tough to find a place to hunt, I ended up on a 1500 acre lease up in Elk country but since I was knew to the area it was tough hunting. Since then I moved back south again--WTH was I thinking..and now my kids are getting off to college and my wife and I just bought a small piece of property in the Clarksville-Cuba area and I can't wait to start our new life up their together..to be continued

G-Man-I hope you are right-we are down to less than 3 weeks and counting till we come back up your way..need that snow to go away so I can get up that long driveway

Definitely need to meet some fellow hunters when I get up that way.
-
Just looked at accuweather and it looks like it is snowing but suppose to warm up on Tuesday.
-
Guys I come up next weekend to look at that piece of property in Clarksville-Cuba area, how much snow is in that area? Thanks
-
Thanks Ants, I look forward to checking out the land and house at the end of the month when I get up that way.
-
Hi fishuntrapper, I think your old property might be next to the one I'm looking at, the address is 6966 (it's an old tudor looking cottage on 8.6 acres.
-
It is on the west side of 305. Only drawback is there are several smaller properties that surround it. I'm also looking a house down in Wirt (Richburg Hill rd)--not sure how that area is for deer hunting.
-
Thanks G-man-I want to meet all the neighbors, it looks like allot of them our seasonal. I mostly bow hunt and can't wait to take a look at the land. I would love to pick up some more acres as it becomes available in the area.
