man how can you guy's get so worked up about this BS. do we not live in a country that thrives on BS. this is no big surprise, and does anyone really, i mean really care? get on with yer lives!

we have sections for trailcams, taxidermy, muzzle loaders, and even game recipes/cooking??? crossbows are now a legal tool to harvest deer with in NY state and i think we should have a section for them that hunters can go to just to talk crossbows. everytime we start any kind of crossbow discussion it isnt long before the likes of DOC, and GROWSALOT not to mention others comes in with their opinions and hijacks the thread with their reasons why crossbows are evil and will kill pewople or whatever the heck, and the bashing begins??? it seems to me there is a genuine interest in crossbow education on this site and i see hunters wanting to know and gain knowledge on how to safely handle a crossbow. i mean we have guys asking on how to cock a crossbow in a treestand?? so maybe before some poor hunter ends up castrating himself 20 ft up a tree we should have a forum dedicted to the use and shooting, tuning, arrow types, broadheads, etc, etc.... i would be more than happy to assist in answering questions regarding crossbows and have a couple years of experiance hunting deer with a crossbow already in PA under my belt. maybe the mods could even make an effort to keep and eye on this section in regards to keeping on topic and preventing a bashing fest from ensuing...

getting back to constructive crossbow talk, yes trying to cock a crossbow from a ladder or climning stand is next to impossible. if you are the type of hunter who takes multible shots while up in a treestand you would be best served with a wider 2 man stand where you can comfortably put your foot thru the stirrup on the much wider stand base. or use a ground blind... all that said if you shoot and miss with a crossbow a second shot is unlikely because of the noise a crossbow makes when shot.

you know it's just time everyone stops pissin about what the heck the weapon should be classified as and wether or not NYS instructors are going to form some kind of xbow boycott because they are such purist's to the sport( which is total BS ) it should just be a hunters right if he so chooses to fill his deer tag during bow season with an xbow, then he should damn well be allowed to do so, especially on his own land. what are you vert bow folks so scared about, is it that people who ordinarily wouldnt get a deer during bow season with a vert bow might fill their tag with a crossbow, and my God possibly meaning less deer for you??? this is what this always comes down to isnt it! has nothing to do with when to have the season or how to classify the crossbow, nooooo, it has everything to having other hunters maybe, just maybe gaining a slight edge and bagging some of yer deer!

bill, im not looking for opinions, or how you feel people should hunt, we have pages and pages of that already on this site and everyone has an opinion just like another body part i wont mention. this post is for the hunters who wanna have the right to choose a crossbow during bow season just like every other state has which borders us. and if you check, the sky has not fallen in any of these states.and for those of you who are interested this is a great place https://www.facebook...289931664402757 to talk about getting full inclusion in our state and somewhere you will be able to check in on when and how we are going to rally our lawmakers, who are in fact listening.

New York had it's first Crossbow hunting season last fall, the problem is we are limited to gun season only. We are working on changing the law to have crossbows classified as legal hunting implements for all seasons. We are looking for support of all New Yorker's that share this position.
