  1. It looks like a fake picture, it it were real they would of gutted it and the bear wouldn't be so stiff and laying straight. It's head would be dragging the ground.
  2. Will you PM me your mailing address and price of tickets.
  3. I think most of the 20 gauge Ithaca model 66 single shot shotguns are modified choke, I'd pick up severl brands of slugs and try them all out and see which brand you gun shoots the best with. You'd be surprised the difference there is between brands in the exact same make & model of guns. I have two of the Ithaca model 66 20 gauge shotguns, one has a venilated rib and the other has a plain barrel, I also have two Ithaca model 66 shotguns in 410 gauge and they both have plain barrels. I've never shot slugs through them but wouldn't hesitate to put slugs through them and take them out to shoot a deer. I did use one of the 410s for deer hunting in Pennsylvania years ago for deer hunting and got one just because it was legal. It did the job of taking it down with no problem at all. Does your 20 gauge have rifle sights or does it have a plain barrel?
  4. My favorite hunting book is "Shots at Whitetails" by lawrence Koller. It isan older book and is available on E-bay, Amazon. Very informative book about deer hunting with most of it taking place from Windsor, NY down to the Catskill Area. It's worth every penny you spend on it, I've bought several of them to give to family & friends back there in New York. There isone story in his book where he shot a deer, I was hunting down in the Damascus NY area about twenty years ago and found the same situation that he wrote about. I retraced his foot-stepsand shot a nice eight point buck. I highly recommend this book if you hunt deer in the southern zone of New York.
  5. A guy out here in Washington State has a nice 30-30 Encore with a scope & bandileer for $650. I have a contender with a ten inch 22LR and a fourteen inch 45LC/410, I will be buying several other barrels when I get the extra cash.
  6. If you use a five gallon bucket you can get a bait lid for one on e bay, I used them for fishing down in Florida. Just punch in "5 gallon bait bucket lid" and hit search on e bay, they go from $4 to about $8. You can also get the smaller size bait buckets to put the frogs in until it's time to proccess them. The smaller ones are about a gallon size which you can find on e bay also.
  7. My last trip to Upstate New York I went to the Dinasour BBQ Resturaunt in Syracuse ith my oldest son and had an order of their Frog-Legs,I din't care for the thick breading they put on them, The ribs were excellent. After we were done eating I seen them take an order of "Fried Green Tomatoes" to the table next to ours, I wished I would of seen them on the menu sooner. Looking forward to them on the next trip back there in New York.
  8. Lawdwaz I live in Washington State and have a conceal carry permit. Mine is good for about seven or eight other states, I'll be getting a Arizona conceal crry permit after I get the required gun class. I'm not sure how many other states that will open up to carry in, I am planning of traveling to Arizona to visit friends and do some sight seeing. Utah and Florida are good states to get a conceal carry permit from to really open up your conceal carry range, With these two non-resident conceal carry permits it opens up around 37 states. If HR882 ever goes through you'll be able to carry in every state in the US. You can look online and get the cost and requirements from these states, I know there are gun instruction classes you are required to have before you can apply.
  9. Pistol permits in New York are time consuming for sure, It shouldn't be that much of a hassle. Once you get it you'll have fun shooting what ever you choose to buy. As far as ammo goes I think it will e a year or two before you see any amount of ammunition available like it use to be. There are tens of millions gun owners and millions more joining our ranks. They can only produce so much in a day and the demand has jumped by leaps & bounds. You'll never get it if you don't apply. Here in Washington State it's so much easier for people who want pistols, You just go to the gun store and buy what ever you want, no permit necessary. You can open carry, go target shooting, hunting or just have one because you can. If you want to carry concealed then you need to get a Conceal Carry Permit. I applied for mine on a Thursday and recieved it on the following Monday. I have several handguns for different purposes, Target Shooting, Hunting and Conceal Carry. A nice first handgun would be Ruger Single-Six. I sold my old one and bought a new one a year or so ago. I bought the stainless steel model with the 22 long rifle and 22 magnum cyliders. It's a fun little gun to target shoot with and also for hunting squirrels, grouse and other small game. I prefer the stainless over the blue guns, another nice little 22 is the Ruger Mark 2s I have two of them both stainless one has a ten inch bull barrel the other has a 6 7/8 inch barrel. They are very accurate and never jam or mis-fire. For a larger hand gun you can't beat the quality of a Ruger GP100 - 357mag. Again I prefer the stainless steel over the blued. I have one with the 6" barrel, shooting it is like driving a Cadillac, nice quality built gun that will hold it's value. The recoil is pleasent for a large caliber handgun. You can use it to target shoot, hunt deer with it and use it for personal defense. I also have a Rossi 971 - 357 mag that I use for a conceal carry gun, again it's stainless with a muzzle brake and I just bought a S&W 642 Airweight 38 + P to use as a conceal carry handgun. I have a bunch of others but these are a few that are decent guns for about $400 to $600 price range.
  10. This video says it all, Don't tell me they's never use the guns we buy for them on the people of the US. This soldier says it for you. And look how they confinscated the guns for the residents of New Orleans when they needed them the most. Sorry but they would of has to use their m16s on me if I were living there at the time and my property was high & dry. Guns have other uses then just hunting and target practise, thats why I have & use a conceal carry permit. And then have them knock at your door and dis-arm you so you have nothing to protect yourself & your family, I call bullit on this one guys. If we can't buy arms for self protection, the Gov shouldn't be able to either-period. If they can't keep up with production then they'll have to add more staff & more manufactureing capabilities. Why does the Department of Homeland Security need Cilvilian Targets, 7,000 fully autiomatic Rifles, 1.6 billion rounds of Ammo and a stockpile of multi-person caskets? Is there something they have planed in the future? And then stuff all of this gun control down our throats on the state and federal level. Every State in the Union are trying to pass some form of gun control. I'm not parinoid about all of the theories out there, just well informed and try to stay educated about whats going on. http://www.infowars....ts-of-children/
  11. I like the idea of getting together with newer people interested in hunting, If I move back to New York I'd be interested in being part of the group. If I move back to NY i'll be in the Binghamton area, when I travel ack to NY I have a friend that I stay with that lives in Huntington,LI. I did have a lot of places to hunt in Broome, Chenango and Delaware counties. I'm sure getting permission again wouldn't be a problem for both small gsame as well as big game. If I move back there I will be buying a pair of beagles and a couple of bluetick coon dogs.
  12. A friend bought a Henry 22 last fall, He didn't lke the back sight on it. Other then the rear sight he likes it, with ammo being non-exsistant here and al across the country it makes you wonder what's going on. He probably shout of bouht it when they had live shells in them.
  13. They have taken our guns away when they needed them the most, In New Orleans right after Katrina, Watch this video, The first National Guard guy says a few scarry things. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tta1qhQZWSE
  14. You should write to your state legislator and press them into making it so the pistol permit information can not be handed out to be put on these list, this is where the paper got the information to publish all of the names and addresses of pistol permint holders down by NYC. If Ilived in New York I'd be all over it and get every one that has a gun to write letters in as well.
  15. All of the major police departments have computers that read your cars computer and your license plate RFID chip. When the state say they "Can't read your license plate" It's not the plate they can't read it's the RFID Chip, They upgrade the technology in the RFID Chips with more information for the Law Enforsment to gather information. All cars since 1987 have computers in their electrical system that gayters and stores information that the State downloads when you take your car in for Emissions Readings, It tell where your car traveled, speeds it was driven, seatbel use, if you used your turn signals, and a bunch of other information. You've seen the Progressive Commercial with Flow about saving money if your a "Safe Driver" with "Snap Shot" that little devise you plug into the same port the state plugs into for you emmissions, They gather the same information the state gathers to see if you are obaying all traffic laws. Major Law Enforcment have devices that look through your walls and can tell where everyone is in the house and what they are doing, It also pickes up audio, what ever is being said they can record it. We have no privacy, it's been long gone for quite some time. How do you think they foil so many high profile acts of terrorism and open investigations that years ago would of went un-noticed. There is a lot of other high tech operations out there that you can find on the computer if you dig a little. The US has a spy plane that flys 80,000 fee and has a feild of 1,500 miles in each direction that can pick up 1,100 pieces of video, audio & other information and can transmit it anywhere in the world to be reviewed. This stuff is old technology and isn't classified anymore and is available to anyone who wants to check it out. They changed the format on televisions to the digital age, with these new TVs they have access to video & audio through the TV set and computer into your home.
