Finfeather, you are right. Out east the police will have you in cuffs before you can say a word. I have seen it happen. There is a joint group of land owners out there that has an "unwritten rule" if someone is caught trespassing there is no questions asked. Police call the owner of the land say they caught someone hunting on it and get the ok to lock them up for trespass charges.

Steve, im glad you decide not to hunt long island, but for some of us its our only choice. And frankly i enjoy it alot. I have a few spots that are private property and even the public property has some real good areas to hunt. From reading other posts on this forum long island is FAR from the only area that has problems with getting away from the "human life." And too the other guys im sorry you had such a bad experience. Dont let it get to you though. Theres always next year.

I live on long island and hunt the first three days of the regular firearms season upstate and then the last weekend or so of the season. If the season was shortened I dont even think i would bother. I am a die hard bow hunter, but i think it would be foolish to shorten the gun season. I think you would see alot of guys not bother and not only the licenses $$ would be effected but so would the local towns where guys stay. If they dont go there they certainly wont spend money there. -

Your 100% right. East hampton has the same rules if your not a resident you cant hunt public land without being a guest of a resident and the only other semi public land is county and that too you need to sign up for. Real hassle. All else is private and i would say 99% of it locked up.

Paulie to answer your question every dept. is different. With ours we have to fill out a field report explaining that it was dispatched, cleared of the roadway and that the Hwy Dept was notified to retrieve the body. thats it.

When is this wind ever going to give up. Sat last night saw four deer. One basket 8pt. But every one was on hight alert because of this wind. They just would not relax.

Got a guy thats been doing mine for the last ten years and they all still look great. He used to do alot of the work for either the smithonian or museum of natural history i cant remember which. He does all his work out of his shop in PA. Prices range from $250-300 depending on the position of the shoulder mount. Ie. if its lip curl and needs the upper palet of the mouth. He just tends to take a while. You have to be willing to wait about a year and a half for the turn around. Def. worth the wait in my opinon.
