  1. Totally disagree with you Steve. I think the convention has been great and Romney has a good chance to defeat socialism, I mean Obama. All the speakers have been very strong and they are pulling in the undecided vote. Some Dems can't be changed and we understand they would rather go down with the ship.
  2. $250 Still available just in time for deer season. Maybe that special youth hunt....
  3. Muck boots hands down. Durable and most important, comfortable. several styles to choose from. don't get the heavy ones for bow season. they will be too hot.
  4. Good to hear. Sounds like they will be hooked with or without any special season. congrats on the new addition.
  5. Trout, Will you be taking your son hunting with you opening day regardless, even if there is no special season?
  6. Gotta love the "surrender flag"(tail wag) after you put one down with a good shot. They were thick around my house this year for some reason. got 9 so far with .22lr. If you don't control the number they start to do damage and try to burrow under the deck and in the window wells.
  7. Chevy

    DMP's

DEC trying to kill off so many in 8H,F,G,J,N they might just legalize poaching.
  8. very true. I deal with alot of poachers and trespassers and really don't want to deal with guns during archery season. Yes, some of these "adult supervision" will even trespass with their special youth hunters. As for the name calling, true colors always come out once their alterior motive is exposed.
  9. Your kidding right? You're trying to sell Oct 6th as a better all day opportunity at deer than say Nov.18th. Not all have a food plot or field edge to hunt. Most will actually have to head into the woods and visibility will be quite low from the ground. Deer move all day in mid November. Those deer so easily patterned are visible 30 minutes before and after dark if you have a bait pile, I mean food plot to hunt over.
  10. If their intentions were pure, the special youth season would be the weekend before opening day. Two full days of unpressured deer in the peak of the rut in fall like conditions. Not summer like conditions with bugs, heat, green leaves on the trees, and the possibility of rotten meat if not wisked away to the butcher asap. Also makes sense to keep special gun seasons in gun season for obvious safety reasons.
  11. Like moving opening day to saturday so the kids could hunt. That did nothing except anger alot of guys who likes it on monday. Turns out the kids who want to hunt were already doing so with the monday opener. Lowering the age to hunt does help though.
  12. B.S. WNY, there is nothing wrong with the weather in mid November and no deer are on alert opening day. Hence, why opening day take is so high. Plus it's prime rut and the deer activity is at its peak.
  13. what do you need a special season for to introduce kids into hunting? Archery starts 10/1 so no need to even wait for a special season. Get them out there with you on 10/1 or better yet 9/1 for small game. Then don't be greedy and selfish and take them with you opening day of the regular season when chances at a good deer are even better than what Columbus Day weekend would be.
  14. I would rather have our 14 and 15 years olds with archery equipment in their hands Columbus day weekend. Let's not loose sight of teaching the youth how to bow hunt. They will have plenty of time to shoot the woods up when regular season rolls along. How about a special youth archery season?
  15. Why would they or any other group continue to attack the archery season each year when the decision has alreay been made? It is so devisive. Just because the DEC wants it does not mean it is good for hunting or archery season. They also thought is was a good idea to give out 2 DMP to each hunter every year until the sighting of a doe in many areas is rare.
  16. More legal gun owers is the answer. If the gunman knew he might face opposition in the theatre and get shot back at, he might not have tried anything. If you give the anti's an inch by agreeing a 100 round mag is too much, next they will want the 50 round mag and so on.
  17. I know some of you guys don't like Ted, but he has been on before with Piers and sets him straight on guns. Piers, Obama, Bloomberg all want us to be like England. No guns, socialized health care ect.... Hope we vote to take back our freedom in November!
  18. Dom, you talk like you are an old guy. when I was young I walked 10 miles to school one way in the winter with six feet of snow.
  19. What ever happened to the "I Love New York" commercials where they would show hunting, fishing and lots of other outdoor activities?
  20. I just talked to a guy planning to take his kid hunting during the special youth gun hunt in October. He saw it passed on TV. These guys won't bother checking the regulations so they will be out there.
  21. Funny. I went to GM last week to buy a new rifle and trade in two I had. Figured I would get good trade in because they are gonna make money off me with the new purchase. Well, they had neither rifle in stock that I was interested in, the employee should have been selling bait in the fishing dept cause he knew nothing, and they wanted to give me less than half what the guns were worth on trade in. So I sold my rifle on this forum to a nice guy for a fair price. Now I have half what I need to buy that new gun and it won't be at GM.
  22. This is the "no fun" state after all. They just keep trying to control us. Yes a seatbelt keeps you safe but its my life and my choice. Yes a 16 oz. soda is not necessary but I want the freedom to choose. small controlled camp fires are not the problem. #1 we are not out west and in my opinion there is not a great chance of burning down the southern tier. we might have problems if the slobs keep tossing their cig's out the window. why don't they make cig's illegal? they are bad for the heath and might start a fire. Oh yeah, they need the tax money to keep the free programs running. Thanks NY.
  23. Looks like that camping trip to the state park will suck this year. Is a ban on things like small fire pits really necessary?
