  1. Very nice. I ran out of time this year and got mine in late August. Going to try earlier next year. Yours are looking great. I shot a doe over my brassica last year. Good luck.
  2. 2nd bird down!! I went out last this morning about 9AM. Walked out and got into the woods, called for about 1 hour then the rain came. Decided to leave. As I was walking out through the field I see a hen running. I hit the ground and she stops. The field is really tall grass so I start to call. I hear a gobble!!! I stay on my knees trying to find him and finally catch a glimpse. He is about 300 yards out. I keep calling and he keeps coming. He got to about 50 yards and I lose sight of him in the tall grass. Now I start to freak a little bit. I call a few more times and I can hear him spitting and drumming so I know he is close. I peak my head up above the grass I he is about 25 yards. I raise my gun put the bead on his head and BANG!! Dead right there!. 9 inch beard and 1 1/4 inch spurs.
  3. Josephmrtn- I do have the camera low...because I have been hunting this property for about 15 yrs and have never seen a turkey. When I was up there I saw the area, it looked like scratching. So that is why it is so low. I still have not seen or heard the the birds. Lol.
  4. Got one down...only a Jake but it puts me on the board.
  5. I have 2 so far with my bow. I bought the Magnus Bullheads this year too, going to try for the headshot. I have my 15 year old trying with a bow too this year.
  6. I am taking my son out this weekend. Just scouted the land and saw 11 turkeys, 4 gobblers. I hope they stick around! Good luck to everyone.
  7. 88GW it was located near Newark Valley. A friend of mine has permission to hunt it. Luckily he asked us to tag along!
  8. Took my 14 Year old son out for the youth hunt. Saturday did an evening hunt due to him having a football game in the morning. Sat until dark with no sightings. Went down to a friend's place in Tioga county on Sunday, 4 am wake up long drive and we got there about 6:15 am. One of two four wheelers would not start! My friend had another 15 year old with him, so I drove them up the hill to their spot and by the time we got to our blind it was 6:58 am. Got in the blind and saw NOTHING til about 10:30 am. 3 Jake turkeys go by at about 6 yrds and that pumped my son up. Then about 10:50 am I hear a twig snap behind me. I look out the blind and a buck is coming down the hill towards the blind. My son and I have to switch sides in the blind. My son looks out and sees the buck but has no shot. He waits and ends up losing the buck in the thick brush. I calm him down and find the buck in my binos standing broadside at about 60 yards looking hard at the blind. My son finally finds him and shoots. The buck goes down in a pile, rolls down the hill and is done. It was his first deer and the first kill with my new Howa in .270. I still cannot wipe the smiling off his face! I am pretty proud too. The deer died on top of a shed that I grabbed. Now I am looking for that deer.
