  1. I'll try and get out a few more times before I pack it in. I still haven't even made it into my stand because of fishing this year. While I was in Saskatchewan last week all my buddies were killing me because of the fish they were getting.
  2. Greybeard sorry just seen your post with questions. Yes those bass were on sandeels at the time although there were shad all over the place. Crowds were thick in spots but I'd just go find my own bar to get out to and when I caught a fish I'd try and release it with my back turned so no one would see and mug me. To many guys with binos out there waiting for someone else to start catching then they'd be on top of you. I was mostly using tins with a sandeel teaser above. At one point the shad were so thick so I actually had to take off the teaser or you'd be pulling in shad every cast. And we even tried livelining the shad but they only wanted sandeel imitations. I did try the SP Minnows and did very well, I also really like the action on those lures.
  3. Been fishing the last few days as there's been lots of herring that moved in just nothing under them. I've been throwing the bag at them at all different stages of the tide and can't even buy a bump. Hopefully the fat lady hasn't sung yet
  4. Had well over 100 stripers this morning, fished for 6 1/2 hours and the fishing was so good I called off all my appointments this morning. It became a joke that if you didn't catch on the third cast you would then say let me catch a fish a bam fish on. Lots of micro's and biggest was around 20lbs. All fish caught EAST of Jones
  5. I actually been doing so good with the stripers that I haven't been in my stand yet this year. I was on my way to hunt this morning and half way there I seen the flags blowing NE so I turned around and went home to grab my surf gear. There are big fish at first for the last 3 days. I'm fishing SS beach east of Demo
  6. You just show up in the morning of the hunt and your name goes into the basket. Make sure you have a green key card with you as I heard the last few years they been making sure you have one. Its a really nice place to hunt. PM me if you'd like to know which blind to take
  7. I actually like to breast them out then slice 1/8" thick by about an inch an I make jerky out of them. There a big hit in the goose pit
  8. Just remember to hunt there you have to go into the daily drawing which I believe is only on Sat/Sun where as Southaven is Wed and Sat/Sun. If you go to Hubbards and don't have decoys they will supply you with a bag of dekes to use. There's 2 good blinds people favor there and the rest or decent at best

    big buck?

I understand that a trophy is in the eye of the beholder but with that being said "for me" I won't shoot unless it's a 130 or better. I'll go 2-3 years hunting a particular deer without shooting a single deer in those years. I actually enjoy getting trailcam pics and having a cat and mouse game with which deer I'm after.
  10. I have the MTO5O scentlock raingear from cabela's and love them. I've been in nasty weather during spring bear hunts and they worked great
  11. Vince if your a suffolk resident don't overlook the county property instead of Otis. After Nov 1 you have to make reservations for weekends and you have to check in and out any day out in the field.
  12. Triple T Whitetails in Illinois is a great place. It's in Adams county which is 6 miles from Pike with a quarter of the hunters
  13. Yes you need last years license with this years duck stamp for September goose hunting
  14. If you hunt there in October make sure you have the free land access permit with you because DEC does check. Also don't limit yourself to the Ridge area because once November comes the small game hunters will be in the woods with you. Look into hunting some of the suffolk county properties like Hubbards Park. Some really nice deer out there, less pressure and you don't have to check in. Good luck
