Some from the past few weekends

Thanks Matt, never knew it was gonna explode the way it did

Had NY Mets World Series pitcher Steve Matz and crew out for a goose hunt this weekend. They put together a quick 5 man limit with 2 birds sporting some bling.
-
Even with 60 degrees and bright sunny skies today we still made short order of 2 man goose limit and a pair of mallards.
-
We have a bunch of leases in central and eastern zone of Long Island
-
Even with blue skies and mild temps we managed a 3 man limit in 45 minutes. Doesn't hurt we're on the X

Just received my HSS Elite yesterday. Now tomorrow off to Kentucky to give a dirt nap to one of them bruisers

I can get more when I get off work if you'd like

If your on FB look up the group called Long Island Deer Hunting, lots of friendships and hunting partners formed there. That may be your best bet to hook up with a hunting buddy. Most hunters I know, myself included, hold there spots sacred and wouldn't bring their best friend let alone a stranger. Good luck

I've been hunting Canada for about 15 years, Quebec and Saskatchewan, and there's never been an issue with a bow. If you opt to bring a gun make sure you have your paperwork filled out so all you have to do is sign it in front of their customs agent. One handy tip that was taught to me is if your flying, tape a sign on both sides of your hard case that says "musical instrument please be careful". Not sure if that works but may be the difference of them tossing into the plane or placing it in the plane

Mike Walsh does world class work. He's in West Islip, he's a bit more than most but he's doing custom mounts not just cranking out numbers

Hoyt ViperTec RH bow 60-70# draw is set for 28" but can be adjusted 27-30 with module. Included is a Copper John Dead Nut sight,Quicktune 3000 rest and quicky quiver $250

If your on Facebook you can also look Long Island Deer Hunting, it's a closed group but lots of guys there are willing to take out newbies. You can then inquire about joining Hunters For Deer (HFD). They have access to private lands, there's a small membership fee and you have to shoot in front of someone that will certify your qualification that you can shoot

I just picked up a Bowtech RPM 360 the other day for my upcoming Oklahoma hunt, I'll be heading to your shoot on the 13th. Most realistic way to tune up for the season

Legal "sea duck" zone is long island sound, peconic bay and Atlantic ocean. You may wanna check out Cedar Point in East Hampton also. For $10 you get a bag of decoys and a blind to hunt. You just need to have a Suffolk green key card. Do you have a motor on your jonboat?
-
As Yankee stated if you don't have a lease there's not really any private fields but if you have a boat there's some really good goose hunting in some of the harbors and bays that but up to golf courses

I have a black, yellow and chocolate lab which are used everyday during the season with clients and when we get home they become great pets

I've been using Rick Walklate from Simply Retrievers for 4 years. He has 3 of my labs and got one to Master Nationals and got him his QAA title. Great guy that became a great friend of mine. What I like is he doesn't take a lot of dogs so there's plenty of interaction with the dogs on a daily basis. My dogs are my children and I trust Rick thats why I've been using him so long

Doc as far as the leases go I have to as I'm a goose outfitter otherwise I probably wouldn't spend that much on those leases. Lately my clients been giving me there recipes for goose which I haven't tried yet but they sound good. One was taking some olive oil, salt and pepper cook on BBQ on high heat quickly on both sides and they said it tasted like steak. The other was cooking in a slow cooker with BBQ sauce, the meat breaks down like pulled pork and they serve them as sliders. I personally like to soak them in buttermilk overnight, pat them dry then I use a dry rub and make jerky out of them. It's perfect for the pit and my clients always love them

I had goose chilli which I really enjoyed. I make jerky out of the goose breast but lots of my clients tell me recipes. One recipe I wanna try is they cook the breast in a crock pot and you can shred it with your fork, mix in bbq sauce and they make sliders. Another one was some olive oil, salt, pepper and cook it quickly on bbq at a high temp. They said it taste like steak. As far as lease's go 3 of mine are 3k each and my smaller one is $1500. Here on LI just about any field you see is leased

This has been a great season so far for us in the field with daily limits

No I was deer hunting up there but while I was in the blind freezing they were texting me about all the stripers they were catching. I was at the beach just east of where you seen the gulls and I seen gannets with herring through my binos. I made some casts right in the middle of the diving birds and didn't even get a bump. I'll give it a shot tomorrow then I'm guiding from wensday all the way to Monday so won't get much fishing in then
