  1. HuntLI85 welcome. What part of the island are you from, I'm on the island also?
  2. Waterfowl Violations - Suffolk County ECOs conducted a multi-day investigation into illegal hunting activities on DEC-owned land in the Otis Pike Preserve along the Peconic River in Calverton. On Dec. 10, two ECOs approached hunters on foot with two additional ECOs approaching by kayak. The ECOs observed two hunters in front of a baited duck blind. Their licensed guide was observed hunting upstream of the blind but in an area where the birds' flight patterns would have been influenced by the illegally placed bait. ECOs then determined that the guide service, Waterfowlers Edge, based in Ridge, had illegally posted DEC-owned property as the service's leased land. In total, ECOs issued 10 violations to the men; three violations for duck hunting over a baited area; two violations for unauthorized posting of property; two violations for erecting a structure on state land; and single violations for operating an unregistered vessel, insufficient personal floatation devices, and failure to carry a hunting license. Each violation carries a potential penalty of up to $250. The three individuals are due to answer to the charges in First District Court in Central Islip on Feb. 15. Individuals who observe illegal environmental activities on Long Island are encouraged to call DEC's Division of Law Enforcement at (631) 444-0250 on weekdays during business hours and the ECO Hotline (1-844-DEC-ECOS) at all other times. For more information on DEC programs and regulations, please visit DEC's website. Illegal Big Game Deer - Sullivan County

  7. I spent around 6k to go to Saskatchewan. That was door to door including airline, truck rental, taxidermy, license and tip. Been there 2x and now after reading this thread you just gave me the itch to go back next year. I've been on the fence about it since they cut our special sea duck season this year so I will have free time before our season opens here on the island

  16. Where did you hear that if you don't mind me asking?
  17. Now I know I'm crazy. I drive 7 hours one way to deer hunt Alleghany State Park. Takes me an hour just to get around NYC
  18. I tried to share to some friends timeline but wouldn't allow it. Something about privacy. I was able to share it though to my entire friends list though
  19. I know of some guides that used to gun that area but no longer legally can. What I can say is look to your west for some kayak gunning and it's also close to home for you.
  20. You are correct, there is no discharge of firearms in the town of Huntington. They claim to the state line in the middle of the sound so you can't even sea duck outside. Not sure an ECO would enforce it since it's not state but a town ordinance. If you get your free access permit from DEC they give you a map of I believe 5 different spots on the SS. There's also plenty of spots to launch legally out east that you can have great hunts. Have you ever waterfowl hunted LI
  21. I enjoy using a portable hang on stand and this is the reason I use Lone Wolf stand. You just hand the strap with hook and no one will ever find them. Every strap is like having another stand. As far as steps go, my first 4 are detachable clip ons and then screw ins the rest of the way.
  22. Their a bit pricey but built to your specs and options. It's a WingWorks vest. Custom made and you can add on or take off different pockets
  23. Bigkill outfitters if your after a trophy
  24. Just wrapped up building our pheasant flight pen. Pen is 8000 sq ft and will give me really strong flyers. I'll put pics up when birds get delivered next month
