  1. So here is the stand setup where the whole adventure began. It was designed to hunt the far side of the tree, where a large community scrape is situated. But all the action happened on the open side. I felt very naked at the time, but deer hormones blinded my Buck to everything but the doe. I had almost hinge cut a couple of trees to give me forward cover. Had I done this, I would not have had a shot.
  2. That's right, November 9 guys. Don't forget to vote for Hillary on November 9 !
  3. Ah shucks guys. I really felt I had no choice. Knew he was in the area, knew the shot was decent. And yes, I don't give in on most things I engage with. I hope to not ever lose a deer. I'm sure it will happen one day, but not today...
  4. Thank you sir. Am out of likes and I have many I want to give.
  5. Grow, I once lost my car keys on a sandy beach on the island of Malta. The wind was whipping up everything into dunes. Once I realized the keys were lost I asked my Angel to help me locate 'em. It was a rental. So, for some reason I was inspired to look where I looked and I just came across the red colored tip of the plastic key-chain poking out, just before the whole thing was about to covered in sand dune by the wind. 1 or 2 more minutes would have been too late.
  6. I prayed to St Anthony, St Hubert (patron of hunters) and my Guardian Angel to help me find my deer. Seemed to work.
  7. Yeah, no way he was going to drop that cheroot to do some real scouting
  8. No, he was fine, we chatted for a while and he just mentioned that he had camera evidence of super mature deer with giant racks
  9. Just used google maps to measure the distance the Buck traveled. Just over a half mile
  10. As I was heading to the car, carrying the head, I passed a hunter in his stand. He said he had deer on camera that made mine look like a baby. Sadly they were always nocturnal. There are big deer in WNY
  11. Thank's ya'all. I'm out of likes. Beer, walking dead and bed for me.
  12. Which reminds me. My arrow was snapped in half at the hit site: Note the bent tip
  13. I bet you say that to all the sailors. Seriously though, thank you. This was a first for me, in terms of testing my tracking and powers of perseverance. I just knew he had to be in the area where I eventually found him. Now it is raining like hell out there. Just in time!
  14. Thanks Fletch. I would say he went a half mile. It was a brutal trek up hill back to the house after yesterday's dog search. I was exhausted. I drove to the target area today which was better.Pretty worn out now, but happy.
  15. Yep, last night was a restless one. I knew today was the day...or never
  16. Here is the old girl that did the damage. It's a Darton, maybe a Marauder, Maybe a Maverick. Quite old, and I am the 3rd owner. She is accurate and deathly quiet. Not like a lot of twangy new bows I hear on the TV shows.
  17. The tip was blunted. I think I may have hit bone on the way through. I wonder if a larger cutting diameter would have made a difference? I like these because they fly like a practice tip. This was a 35 yard shot, long for me. All told I am happy with the hit, but it wasn't perfect clearly.
  18. Mike thanks. I used the Carbon Express Quad Pro Broadhead for the first time.
