I will see it in a week. Hope the new spot got something. I almost hope the corn is still up for a good while. Places for 2 or 3 people to sit along the corn and hedge. During gun season this will be a sweet sweet spot if the corn is up, so I think.

Very very good info. Thanks. The dies dont look corroded at all. I have a Savage 11/111 30-06. Nice gun, carried it last season. Bought pre-shoulder issues and now its not real fun to shoot. So figured Id try my hand at this equipment I have and see if I could have some lite recoil loads. While I am at it, I thought maybe reload some lite loads for my wifes Savage Axis youth 7mm 08. This I am on the fence about. She shot it once 7 rounds, complained a little about shoulder hurting at the end. I want her to have a great experience so thought maybe while doing all this, may as well try that. I will be digging through all the stuff this weekend trying to figure out what tools are what here. There are some items in the wooden box I am not familiar with and may be some of the items listed above. Thanks so far. I am sure Ill have tons of questions coming up. Im likely going to use my existing stock and look into this during winter months.

Dicks is still screwed up. Called them yesterday asking if they put them on the shelf yet or not and the guy told me "They have all been recalled due to a safety concern." Not real happy the way Dicks told me they were recalled and how Ten Point didnt announce anything on the website. Oh well. Ill get over it when I let a bolt fly here soon.

Thanks. I dug around the box a bit more this morning and found some more dies. 30/30 9MM Luger and 30-06. Glad it has the 30-06. The plan is to reload low recoil for my rifle. There are quite a few 30/30 rounds that I have no use for. Many primers. Question: Do the dies go bad or otherwise become useless? Essentially I am worried due to age and storage the equipment may need replacing. If anyone could answer that or give me a few pointers on what to look for to be safe, that would be great.

Checked out my dies and they are all .357 . Also some literature is for pistol reloading. Looks like this was geared to pistol. Are there other pistol type specific parts that I may need to exchange for rifle or shotgun, other than the dies? That one I am aware of. Thanks.

Lifetime License - Muzzleloader tag included?
Al Bundy replied to Al Bundy's topic in CrossBow Hunting
What I figured.. Thanks for info. -
Just got my reloader out this past weekend. A friend of mine gave it to me 15 or so years ago. I was unable to use and never opened it up. I knew the day would come I would be hunting again. So.. now its time. Its an old RCBS, best guess from the mid/later 60's. I know literally nothing about reloading or this unit. Here are some images of what it is. I think the first step is read that book. Is this stuff out of date? Experts out there what do you think of this thing?? If there are any recipes in there I assume there are better now or?? I didnt see a scale. Instead there are plastic measuring cup type things you are supposed to pour the powder into.

Several years ago I bought the lifetime license. I never paid attention to muzzleloader until this entire crossbow muzzleloader debacle. I dont know if my lifetime license has the needed muzzleloader tag or stamp that is needed for cross bow. I am guessing not, but am wondering if anyone knows how muzzleloader fits into lifetime license? Thanks.

I just got off the phone with customer service. SteveB is correct. At this time, no recall. They received a report of one incident and as a precaution, asked the inventories be pulled from the shelves while they did a complete investigation. Also the customer service person said ...."The CEO has stated as recently as Friday that if you use your bow in the manner directed in the instructions, it is perfectly safe." I pressed her for if they will recall or not and she somewhat avoided it but then said something close to "There is nothing now that tells me there will be a recall. Of course I dont know about the future." This very well could be a non issue. If I owned one now, I would sit tight and watch for an announcement. I still have my eye on one and hopefully this will be cleared up before Nov 1st.

Great info. I found some Hornady low recoils this past weekend. 29.00 a box. Owch. Going to shoot some here in a few weeks and see how they go through. Pretty sure I saw Hornady in .308 next to the 30-06 in Dicks FYI. Good news is a finally got my reloader out of storage yesterday. It was given to me some years ago when I was not hunting. Its pretty old, from like the 60's I think. Not even sure it works, though the guy who gave me said everything was there. Seems I should be able to reload for less than 29.00 a box.

WTF is a helmet ticket and how does one go about getting it, or better NOT getting it?

I found two lumps, red and inflammed, on my labs head this weekend. Also each area had a black thing, the size of a tick stuck to her fur. I picked them off and looked and looked. It COULD have been a dead dried tick or it could have been unknown black junk. She is up to date on her shots, including lyme vaccine. Hope like hell it works, if needed.

More info this according to Davis, near ny/nj border. He said something like... It's not mandatory yet and they may not recall. This week will be announcement and we will see if it,happens or not. It's some type of safety thing and newer cross bows will have the safety feature. I have no idea what the safety issue is. Also no idea what dates are involved. (The guy at Davis was kind of a jerk. I'll never buy anything there) The post about bass pro seems to support this recall. One more thing. Dicks called this a "withdrawal" not a recall, to be precise. Also the letter that I saw at dicks had the date of 10/16, and was likely the memo date, or effective date of the withdrawal at dicks. I don't think it had anything to do with manufacturing date. Last thing I am guessing an email may come out this week, based on what the clown at Davis said. Also guessing if they are pulling from the shelves they will do a recall... That is my guess and is,pure speculation. Hope I am wrong.

just came from dicks and was ready to buy. Sales person handed me a list of recalled ten point cross bows. long list. invader warrior titan turboxl tii shadowultralite venom raider vapor stealth carbon elite gtflex various combos of packages. I just tried to google this and dont see it anywhere yet. dates on this say start date 10/16. i dont have a scanner so cant attach. it says remove all these models from the floor and mark do not sell. there were no ten points on the shelf and i asked and was told of the recall.

I also read that the first several or more days the nurses did not have on the space suites. I am guessing they handled specimens unprotected in the first few days. My bet is they were infected pre-diagnosis and pre-bunny suites.
-
You guys read where the original infected guys fiancee and kids are almost over the quarantine period right? So far looks like they did not get it. If they didnt get it, and were in much closer proximity to him for a much longer time than you would be walking down the street and walking by an infected person, Im not going to cancel my travel plans just yet.

Y thanks for all this. I do have permission to hunt the one corn field. I hesitate to put a trail cam there though. My wife will sit edge of corn with the bow then her rifle if corn is down. I walked the edge of the corn the other day and saw tons of tracks and some droppings. They are walking up the side of the corn field. The doe bed down in the swale field at my place most times. We have bucks move through there or even bed maybe. I have seen scrapes and rubs, just nothing this year. I did end up changing the cam location. See what happens.

Count me in.. Im kind of close to you guys. I have a lab I am training for ducks/geese. I will take her out for ducks in November and snows in the Spring. Next fall Ill get her into Canadas. Would love to link up with some LI hunters and take my lab out there..

I have had visits from DEC maybe 3 years out of the last 4. On opening morning/weekend no less. They have also come when I target shoot in the summer time. One guy even went so far as to go and "harass" the neighbor into revoking his permission for us to hunt within 500ft of his house. The neighbor came up to me and told me they knocked on his door and a converstation close to the following happened. DEC: "Come on - you dont really want them hunting there do you?" His reply: "I dont mind, its fine." DEC: "You have a daughter now. You need to think of her. It will only take me a minute to go and tell them no more hunting. Are you sure you dont want me to tell them NO?" Him:" No really, I dont mind." This is what I get to deal with and look forward to. Sorry for the rant semi off topic. It annoys me this happened. DEC clearly was trying to intimidate this guy into saying no.

Anyone using off the shelf? Pros cons? Any brands better than others? What you using in?? My deer hunting will be mostly shots within 100 yards. Now and again past that I guess but rarely. I got two shoulders going belly up on me and my 30-06 makes me remember this every time I shoot it. I have the Savage Trophy Hunter 11/111 .

Picked up nice Savage for the wife
Al Bundy replied to Al Bundy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
No mocking my 20.00 brand new garage sale couch!!! It fit just about perfect in the space, was literally brand new, and only 20.00!!! Comfy also. Talk about a score.. I had her shoot my 30-06 a few times before (very few) and it kicked her pretty good. It kicks me pretty good and I would rather have a 7mm 08. I dont need the power of that beast. Thinking of getting lighter recoil loads for me and maybe her. Im going to open a new topic for that. -
Picked up nice Savage for the wife
Al Bundy replied to Al Bundy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
We shot it finally and its a nice little gun. Hurt a bit more than I thought it would, but I got shoulder issues already. I debated getting 243 or this one, but decided against it. She shot 7 rounds through it I think it was and toward the end she said she started feeling it kick. She does like it and smiled pretty good when we picked it up. Scope is not sighted in well (or user error??) so the target only had one shot through it. Two weeks my hunting buddy and his lazer sight should do the job. I think she was high and to the right. After I said aim low left, round went through the target, dead center but a bit high still. That was her last shot. I would recommend getting one of these like now, if your gonna do it. Order now and pick up when it comes in. Savage rebate on this is 50.00 and I think ends Nov 1st. I hemmed and hawed about what to get her, where to buy, blah blah. Finally pulled the trigger on this a month or so ago when I heard of the rebate. I ran into the same thing with Dicks, they couldnt order it. I called two stores, got the same answer and figured it must be true. Called Bass Pro, they jacked up the price 50.00 (due to the rebate?). They could order it though last I spoke to them. firehunter48 if you want I can give you contact for the guy I bought from. He may be able to ship to your local Dicks. He did not stock but had it less than a week later. I really spent lots of time tracking this gun, finding the best price, best situation for me to get it. -
A year or two ago I stumbled onto an official DEC website that said very very clearly they do not have authority to enter private posted land. I sent the link to my hunting buddy who did not believe me. After he read it he agreed with me. I still have a hard time believing this. Now I can no longer find the link. I think the paragraph that stated this has been removed. Did anyone else see this or know where this link is/was?

Total land is about 22 acres. Half young open woods, half swale field. Across the street corn fields, still standing. I put the cam on an intersection of four trails (in a bit thicker part of the woods) all converging on that point. I'm going to move the cam today but there is even less sign other places. No rubs no scrapes to be seen. I'm very limited where I can hunt due to houses and bad neighbors.
