I was out Sat morning, Sunday morning and Monday morning. Some shooting, but not great. The very worst part is Saturday morning my trail cam picked up a nice buck with fat tines walking under my tree.... If I would have gone for deer instead of ducks I could have jumped out of the tree and rode this deer around. It was that close. Nephew and my brother showed up and we did get one coming in. It was screaming!! Tail wind and moving fast just above the water. That was it in close. Saw a ton flying that day and lots of geese. Nephew enjoyed this I think. Took him in the afternoon for deer which I don't think he liked. Didn't see anything. I am going to hang up my shot gun for a while though and exchange it for my x bow. Until I get something. Hopefully Ill get something soon with the xbow and head out for ducks again. Good luck out there.

Some good advice Thanks. I went back yesterday and walked almost entire property. Not much sign.. Maybe one old rub. Some old scraggly Apple trees, some acorns. Somebody been hunting it as I found a blind. No ag at all close by though. It does not look great. The surrounding area is identical and nothing special on this plot. The deer have their choice where to go. I suspect there are better areas. One neightbor house is spitting distance from the property line. They have horses also that are very close. I suspect they would not be happy me shooting. Going to give this parcel a pass. Thanks for the good advice. I'll use it on the next potential. Hopefully I'll find something. Sick of sitting and seeing just about nothing.

Heading out with my 11 year old nephew. Wind is screaming right now. Not expecting much. I hope for him we see something. -
I'm looking at a 25 acre parcel for deer and turkey. Mostly for deer though. I just walked t and looks like great deer potential. Lot of swail, some smaller saplings fairly thick. Some larger pines. Not many mature trees but some. I could find a tree for stand, but maybe ground blinds might work better. I saw a number of trails and an fresh small scrape and an old rub. I didn't cover even a fourth of the parcel though. Seems there has to be deer there. This is a bit out my Territory so I am not familiar with the area. Any thoughts other than walking and looking for sign?

warm and quiet. hint of breeze now and then. first time out in three weeks i think its been. zero images on trail cam. bad spot to set. no scrapes or rubs to be seen yet. -
Saw quite a few. New hunting buddy overslept or turned off alarm. He showed real late. I got some shooting but damn my gun is up to its old tricks. Didn't shoot straight ! A pair came in and kept going after three shots. Next pair came in and I dropped one, but it fell a distance away and started swimming hard. I lost sight in some waves a few mins later. I hate losing them. Tomorrow morning 11 year old nephew is going to join. Hoping for good shooting and reasonable weather.

Me and my lab and new hunting buddy are heading out in the morning to get some ducks. I was checking my plug earlier and my lab was going nuts when I was messing with the action. I swear she knows when she sees the shotgun it means ducks...

When I pulled it came out whole. I then dropped it in the sink, watched it squirm for a bit then squished it with my thumbnail. A bit disturbing. You are correct, fluid came out along with blood. I had to press real hard also. Those little f'ers are tough .

Y the lima bean is about right. I think frontline has worn off. Yesterday was actually the day we were supposed to re-apply. Hoping it was a fluke timing thing and this wont happen again. Poor dog. Did put on the new stuff last night. I usually brush her with a tick comb thing but didn't this past weekend as we were not out in the woods. Just lawn area.

Im petting my lab last night and feel a blob of something. I say oh no I know what that is. Sure enough I pulled this blob and it was a friggin HUGE tick. I think it was about done and ready to drop off as it came out easily and came out alive in one piece. I put the tick cream on her faithfully and she has a shot for lyme. Not sure what happened with the cream. I hope she is OK.. Squishing this thing was pretty sick. The term "full as a tick" is so appropriate. Watch out for these damn things..

Im not licked yet. Got hold of customer service at parent company of wild game and an sending an email with model number, issue, and address. He said hed forward the email to regional customer service manager and keep my fingers crossed. If not Ill find the actual manufacturer. What a pain this is. Its 100.00 model, maybe a blaze.

Yup.. Sat right down on it. I had a few honey bees chasing me. One landed on my nose so I hastily retreated to my vehicle and sat on my trail cam. Busted the latch mechanism that house the batteries and the chip. Plastic bent and I tried to bend back and it snapped of course. Tried epoxying it but its so small and nothing really to grab. I called Wild Game and they said no, they cant replace the part. They do not have the parts to give... WTF...

Falling is not a good thing.. I don't know how you survived but wow. I will be seriously careful. I do have hill related issues where I hunt, I assume issues anyway. Everywhere I am, there is a slope/hill/not flat land. I assume the deer look up in this situation more so than in flat woods. In this spot though, the trail runs North and South. The hill is high West and slopes down East. Not much I can do about this but try and be covered and not squirmy. I am going to get one of the camo attachments to make it into a condo-blind I think. Why not. This hopefully should help with backdrop. I thought on the edge of the gulley would be good as I could see across to anything walking down the other side. On the one end of the trail (away from the gulley) it gets thick. I assume the deer run South to North in the morning and go bed down in the thick shit. Then I assume they get up in the afternoon and run North to South. Maybe I don't need to be right on the edge of the gulley. I guess I can set up closer to the thick shit, place my trail cam and leave as is for rest of this season. Next season dial it in a bit better. Thanks for all the advice.

Good info. Thanks all. The tree I had in mind is straight and limbless until up fairly high. Backdrop could be an issue. I might walk around bit and see if I can find something a bit more cover. If not Ill try and make my own cover. I know late for this. Its still good though.

Picked me up two stands the other day. A fairly nice ladder stand and a hang on. Where I want to put the ladder is on one side of a gulley along a major trail. A heavy trail runs from one side of the gully to the other. Its wooded, but not real thick and something standing on the ridge of the other side can easily see across. At the base of the tree I was thinking to put the ladder its not at all covered. The tree is a few yards off the main trail is all. So.....putting out now. Anyone think deer will be spooked walking by a ladder stand? Deer on the other side of the gulley be spooked? I am debating the ladder or the hang on. This is going to be my new main spot. I like the ladder as its nicer but not sure the stealthiness of it??

I didn't go out this morning but see a pretty strong south east wind out there now. -
I tried a new spot yesterday afternoon and was sitting on a seat, not in a stand. I was on the edge of a gulley where I could barely see a ledge that ran along the gulley. Sure enough I hear squirrel like noises and see only the head of a small doe, maybe button buck. It comes closer and closer and pops up out of the gulley literally no more than 20ft from me!!! Never had one quite this close. SHe knew something was off and stood and looked at me. I gave it a pass as it was a bit small and really tough to raise my bow and line up. New spot was great though. I saw this doe, two mamas and two of their babies, one other doe, and another group of two. More deer seen than I did all of last year in my regular spot. Going to get a tree stand for new spot and alternate it into the mix of where to go on watch. Good luck to all.

I'm heading off to bass ho shop in a few. Seems like a better idea to go there. I missed the morning anyway.

My bow peep site came off the string. I am searching for an image of it so I can figure where to reattach, so far no luck. Anyone have an image of theirs?? Thanks.

A bit cold to undress this morning on stand isn't it?? No deer for me. Just saw one of the two dogs that come by each morning. Did get grunted at once this morning. Got to find my grunt call I guess. Going to find my doe scent and see if I can't get whatever to come in using call and scent. Back in camp with the wood stove going, cup of strong black tea. Ahhh life is good. -

Use the MAC address to block. This is not variable and cannot easily (if at all..) be faked. Work and home MAC should about do it.
