  1. It's really 2 seasons for me.  Bow hunts are 100% solo operations, that's my alone time.  My dad is sometimes at the cabin puttering around but he doesn't bow hunt.  He's usually around for recovery and tracking which is fun for him and satisfying for me.

Gun season there's usually somebody else there, and I spend less time in the woods.  It's more about enjoying the years I have left with my dad and of late my brother is getting back into it.

Both are very satisfying in different ways.

Just picked up two boxes on 150 grain 308 cor-lokts and noticed they all seem to have a slight  burr of lead at the top which  I never noticed on older stock   I compared them to some of  my older rounds and there is a difference not huge but a difference might be enough to effect bullet trajectory has anyone notice a difference in the newer Remington rounds

Where did you happen to find them, if you don't mind my asking?

Started with Okoye and Derrick Thomas for me. When I went to arrowhead for first home playoff win in 25 years it was electric. Grown men crying

Wish I still had my vintage 1991 starter jacket.  Teasing was pretty unmerciful in middle school for a couple years.  Cowboys Jets and Giants fans alike.

I been a KC fan since 1990. Ringless for my first 30 years. You can check forum Back to 2010 to see Also. We had a ton of bad years so you can’t rain on my parade now. Jerkman is a jets fan rooting for a rival which is pathetic

C'MON, share the love.  We just want 1!  Totally let you guys win next year.  Scouts honor!

I'm nervous AF.  Trying to keep busy and not think about it all day.

Bengals defense blows, but titans offense is more stagnant than the Bills vs Jags. Usually FG’s don’t win, but not sure titans can score much

I think we're all rooting for the bungles this evening.

Yep. Things change. 10 years ago I was going out a lot, hanging out with a different group of people most of the time, etc. Kids, job and personal responsibilities change peoples priorities. Now at 45, most of my time with friends is tied to hunting and fishing. I’ve been out to bars maybe 7-8 times in the last couple of years. It wouldn’t have been much more than that if Covid hadn’t happened either.

Oh I agree on the bars thing.  And I still see at least some of these guys once a month or so.  We have a few beers, BS, play some tabletop or card games.  And I get all the responsibilities, it's just disappointing to not be able to get at least a couple of them out ONCE for something they would have jumped at 15 years ago.

  7. Maybe this is just a by product of working in/going to school for/having friends also in IT.  The vast majority are just straight up nerds.  But they don't even play much in the way of games anymore.  Just "Hey what shows are you watching?"

I get that the people I went to college/had an apartment with will never be into the hunting scene, that's my thing.  I'm not asking them to drive 12 hours to see a show like the old days, I'm talking a show, with seating, in the spring, less than 30 minutes from where they live.  Most likely home by midnight.  It's frickin discouraging.

Anybody in the Smallbany area want to go see the 'Knot?

  8. Anybody else run into this?  Just a big divergence from buddies the last few years.  Still like seeing them once every few weeks.

Maybe I'm the odd one.  When I get together with my buddies, I don't talk about TV.  Alot of "Oh did watch <insert show here>?". Then they rattle off like 5 more shows.  I haven't been able to get anybody to go to a concert in 4 years.  Just asked everybody about the Slipknot / Cypress Hill tour.  Crickets. I'll go to the damn show myself if I have to.  This same group used to go to shows weekly.

Nobody goes outside, except to mow their 1/4 acre lawn.  Maybe I'm just realizing now my college buddies are just way different people than me.

  9. That garage is bad ass, Ryan.  I particularly liked boiler converted to a wood stove.  Chuck half a log in that bad girl!  You never have to brush snow off yours or your wife's car in the morning again.

This is going to be a long process but the process has finally started! My wife and I just bought a house after living in the same downtown Troy apartment for 15 years. And mounting animals in my living room was getting old and frustrating. Luckily the house we bought has a massive garage that will become my taxidermy shop. Over 3000 square feet. It does needs a lot of work and I'd like to share the process with all of you. Not gonna do to much with it over the winter, maybe just some interior demo. Gonna set up shop in the basement for the time being, definitely better than the living room! Progress will probably a little slow but I'll try to keep you all updated. The dog loves it just the way it is though!2e9394561e830c1da482172cba9dd852.jpgae675f96cd99d03a5cf1d0353b89c832.jpg

Nice man!  Maybe I'll get a chance to drop off a couple sets of antlers later in the week and see!

  11. Love this thread, I'm planning on doing the same thing sometime in the next couple years.

Need to get a real road built first.  Anyone have any idea of how much roughly 800 yards of road building costs?  Primarily along a field edge.  We could fix the road that currently goes to my dad's cabin, but the property line runs down the middle of it.
