suggested parts for an AR 15
HectorBuckBuster replied to jesse.james's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
This is a c/p of your NY Safe Act. I stated in my above post a general description that fits to your post. I Do not see any where's in the NY Safe Act where they have a Definition of a DETECTABLE MAZAZINES Another example of how vague the NY Safe ACT is below. Like a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon ( what is the exact measurement of PROTRUDES CONSPICUOSLY ?) A) A SEMIAUTOMATIC RIFLE THAT HAS AN ABILITY TO ACCEPT A DETACHABLE MAGAZINE AND HAS AT LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS: (I) A FOLDING OR TELESCOPING STOCK; (II) A PISTOL GRIP THAT PROTRUDES CONSPICUOUSLY BENEATH THE ACTION OF THE WEAPON; (III) A THUMBHOLE STOCK; (IV) A SECOND HANDGRIP OR A PROTRUDING GRIP THAT CAN BE HELD BY THE NON-TRIGGER HAND; (V) A BAYONET MOUNT; (VI) A FLASH SUPPRESSOR, MUZZLE BREAK, MUZZLE COMPENSATOR, OR THREADED BARREL DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE A FLASH SUPPRESSOR, MUZZLE BREAK, OR MUZZLE COMPENSATOR; (VII) A GRENADE LAUNCHER; OR -

Tuckersdaddy, how would you have to register it. It is not longer defined at a AW, by the law. This is right from the Cuomo's website FAQ's Q: If I modify my gun by removing all design characteristics that makes it an assault weapon, do I have to register it?A: No. If you modify your gun so that it is not an assault weapon, you do not have to register it. The modification must be permanent however. This includes, for example, removing the bayonet lug by cutting or grinding, grinding off the threads on the barrel, removing the foregrip so that it cannot be readily reattached, or any change that cannot be reversed through reasonable means. Jesse James, they are sold out of their pre production of that stock. Here is the website . http://www.ubbt.net/frs15stock1.html -

This is what I have found. http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?default_fld=&bn=S01422&term=&Summary=Y&Text=Y 34 24. "DETACHABLE MAGAZINE" MEANS ANY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICE, THE 35 FUNCTION OF WHICH IS TO DELIVER ONE OR MORE AMMUNITION CARTRIDGES INTO 36 THE FIRING CHAMBER, WHICH CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE FIREARM WITHOUT THE 37 USE OF ANY TOOL, INCLUDING A BULLET OR AMMUNITION CARTRIDGE. -

OK, here are a couple of options to eliminated a pistol grip. The first option is awesome, second is ok. Ok, I will now get more info on the bullet button. -

You lower was transferred as a other, not a pistol or a rifle or shotgun. The NY Safe Act defines a assault rifle (should be called tactical rifle) as having a detachable magazine and one feature- Pistol Grip, Bayonet holder, Collapsible stock, grenade launcher, and a muzzlebreak (which there is no such thing in reality) which means a threaded barrel.Well Bayonet holder, and grenade launcher are easy to get rid of, threaded barrel, easy to get rid of, and pistol grip, that is also easy to get ride of. Then by reading the law it is no longer a assault weapon. Plus if you get a bullet button, then the magazine is no longer detectable with out a tool and the tool is a bullet or a magnet . -
You may have to have the lower shipped back to a FFL dealer. Since it is legal that may be the best option. You can order one right from this site, and have it shipped to your FFL dealer. They will just need to contact Aero and fax there FFL info over. The Aero lowers are awesome, and if you watch their site and sign up for text alerts, you may get lucky and get blemished lowers for $100. http://aeroprecisionusa.com/shop/ar15-stripped-lower-receiver

You have too many bleeding hearts & Billionaires that want to push ideas on everyone else. Everyone calls the Constitution and Bill of Rights a living document. What I mean by that is the 1st amendment gives of free speech, which now covers stuff that was not around when it was written like telephones, emails. But then at the same time, they want to say the 2nd Amendment only applies to flint lock guns. If they are a living document like they says, then it should apply to all amendments not just the ones that fit there cause.

I have been reading up on this alot. If you brought a AR15 in to NY it would be illegal, because anything with a detachable magazine is considered a assault weapon (they really are called tactical rifles), if it has one feature. This is where there is kind of a loop hole right now in the NY Safe Act. The lower receiver of the AR is what is considered the GUN part and has to go through a FFL dealer and has the serial number. If you have a stripped lower with nothing in it, it is legal to buy this in NY state. The lower is the only regulated part, all the other parts can be purchased online or any wheres and delivered right to you house. If you don't believe me about the stripped lower check out this link. The way the safe act reads says a assault weapon is a semi-automatic and accept detachable magazine and must have one of the features, pistol grip that protruding below the action ,bayonet mount threaded barrel, folding or telescoping stock, grenade launcher. So bringing back a stripped lower is legal. Building it to be compliant is is where it becomes tricky. There are some nice CA Compliant AR out there and a thing called a bullet button, which then makes the magazine only detectable with a tool (a bullet has been ruled a tool in CA) http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=529130217130076&set=a.218432318199869.50894.190850484291386&type=1&theater

Its funny 25-30 years ago you could walk through the village carrying a gun over your shoulder and everyone would ask you what you got. If you do that today schools would be in lock down, and 50 cop cars would be surrounding you. -

Did get some .223 Steel case ammo at Walmart in Watkins Glen yesterday. Dicks in Ithaca last week had probley 70-100 boxes of 30-06 ammo. -

Bill to make Hunting Competitions illegal in NY
HectorBuckBuster replied to WesternNY's topic in General Hunting
It just never ends, when hunting and guns are outlawed (i really think in another 100 years this is a possibility), they will just find something else to ban. -
Yep, my mom worked for 34 years in the NYS Mental Health Services at Willard before the closed it and so did my grandfather and my brother in law.I even have the master key from the building that they let all employees got to keep. She took me there all the time, most of them patients their just need some attention. 99 percent of them where harmless, of course you will have a few that hill hurt someone or themselves. So JJB, if you wife or child was in a mental hospital for 2 days, would you be happy if they came knocking on your door asking for your guns? I understand the part of getting guns out of the house, but the husband should have the right to decided what should be done with HIS GUNS.
