  1. We finally saw deer. Had a doe and button come running in. Not the best scenario. She was within 20' of us but straight looking at us ur behind a tree. The little skipper was running around like a goof. She runs past, again we are in a blind with different Windows so repositioning each time she zips by so close is a stealth adventure. The little buck hits the mock and is jumping around on his hind legs getting into the licking branch. She is behind a tree 90 degrees the other side of us. Then she runs back and stops 20' out staring right at us with a stare off for had to be 5 minutes. She must have caught a scent finally and got hinky and spun trotted directly away. I bleated and she eased up and stopped but she was behind some brush 60 yards out then off she went. He could have shot the button but I had him focused on the doe. Least we had some excitement. 8. Well we got in and all set a bit after 4. This was an alternate plan because the wind was perfect and he asked to hunt where all the buck pics were this week. This is a hard spot to ground hunt and we may blow up my best stand but if he gets a crack at one its more than worth it. This youth have to hunt from the ground crap is stupid!! I can have him up a tree with me from born till 14 and now I can't! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Sad state of affairs, can't even see a deer. I can tell my son is a bit discouraged but toughing it out. Been in stand over 10 hours since yesterday morning. Well he's learning it ain't a given and as long as I pack enough food and hot chocolate he is good! He made a small noise and I whispered shh you'll scare all the deer away. He cracks up yea all of them! As we both feel there has not been a deer within a mile of us in 2 days! We need a change of scenery for evening watch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. 10/8 59 am Son and I set up out behind the house well before light. Man I had to haul a lot of extra stuff lol. Extra food and clothes. A thermos of hot chocolate for him...... Anyhow the weather was warm and rained all morning. We stayed dry in the blind but the mosquitos where plentiful!! We sat until 10:30 with no action. We will be back out in a bit. 16. You hit the deer good but not a pass through. Maybe hit ribs or far shoulder, blades not sharpest or light arrows....not sure unless I looked at it. Any hows when the deer kicks into motion the force of that front leg coming back snaps that arrow off quicker than hot knife in butter. By the way you don't need pass throughs you're killing deer fine. Two holes do leave better blood trails though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Me and my son got out about an hour later than planned but the rain was coming down good. It finally passed and looks to be done. 59 out and cool weather coming tonight. Hope he gets some action. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Some days absolutely! I get more deer because of my stubbornness to quit than any skill! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. About to pull the plug here as well. Rain picked up so waiting for it to let up a little before we bail though Did finally hear a group of 3 shots spaced out then a solo one later so maybe some youngster got some luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
