  1. A tad warm at 50 but man is it quiet out! Now if I could just block out the highway noise a couple miles away and the random plane I would be at peace. I did hear a turkey sound off a bit ago. One of those mornings if the deer is too close you swear they can hear your breathing! Now all I need is the deer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Sure anytime, my big secret is stubbornness lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. 10/29 pm 61 I spent a while this afternoon scouting some state land found a nice area with a lot of scrapes just not sure how the heck I'd get to it easily. Hunted an old spot this evening. That went poorly. A lot can grow in a few years! 3 old spots hit and shooting lanes all gone. Got all sweaty hauling around the climber. Saw like 20 scrapes. Sat for last hour all I saw was mosquitos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. 10/29 am 38 Out in the far stand for 3 hours this morning. Complete opposite than yesterday. Not a hair. After I left yesterday I had a flock of turkeys at 11am, a 4 point at 1:30 pm and an not sure after dark walk past this stand. They were sure moving yesterday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I am not to optimistic tonight! I decided to hit a spot I have not been in a couple years. Walked the climber way the hell in to a spot I wanted and some dang kids had built up a huge tent fort camp. Figured that would not work. Hiked to another stand site and so grown up no shooting lanes left. So hiked to a third spot and I could only get up maybe 12 feet do to all the shit grown up. Now I'm all sweaty and mosquitos are attacking me. I got like 3 lanes and it's so dim out I'm scared I won't see a limb if a deer was stupid enough to come to me! I do have like 6 scrapes within sight of me though. SMH Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. That's a solid buck right there! Congrats!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Oh where to start! HEH while your bucks are nice, after all your self greatness propaganda I woulda thought you'd shot a deer over 3.5 years old! Second, educate yourself on a age. Elmo's deer was a 1.5 with broken antlers, not that it should matter, just proved my point. Points also do not equal age. I have shot deer with 1 to 10 points at 1.5 years old. And my biggest a 5.5 had only 7. Where you hunt has a lot to do with what you see. Myself I would prefer to take the first nice doe I see or a solid buck. My primary goal is meat. Some say we don't NEED the meat but I disagree. I am not poor. I can buy meat, but why would I want to as I want primo, no steroid, no antibiotic, no caged, top quality and in my mind better tasting meat. I want a little bigger deer for one reason more meat! Now my area is quite different than a lot of you. I have no farm land, nor oak or beech flats or ridges. I usually have more bucks in shooting range than does over a season as my areas are travel corridors. I have passes numerous fawns and 6 1.5 yr olds this season so far. If I get down to the last week of bow though look out. I need 3 deer for the freezer yet! I wanted to add, some put almost mystical powers on a big mature buck but a good many of them die being really stupid just like a 1.5 year old with its nose up a does ass! Just because a buck is mature in no way means that it was a more difficult endeavor! Old mama does with a bow can be quite the challenge! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Bit slow this morn! Keeps getting dark as rain showers roll through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. 38 and a bit of a light breeze. Starting to get light. Today could be the day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. 10/28 pm 41 Down in the hole stand for 2.5. Had an old mock from last year opened up. Nice cold night but not crap. Wife texted deer in the back yard. This spot is real tough early due to corn all over off our prop. Once cut or bucks start running it always has a shooter or two so hard to not sit it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Well back in the stand. Switched properties after all the hoopla this morn. Mr. Buck opened up and old mock from last year! Not a leaf in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. 10/28 am 37 Out back in the far stand for 2 hours. I jumped one two times on the way in. Gotta love all the blowing! Had a yote cruise by and I rushed the shot and missed him at 25 yards. A bit later had a 5/6 point come in and work behind me. He went by at 30 yards and was just wandering all over slowly with nose down. It was a real nice morning and I almost called off and stayed in tree but my stupidity won out. I got down to look for arrow. I then hear running deer so I ease up next to a tree and nock an arrow. Doe comes running right at me and stops 25 yards away. She pegs me and is doing the head bob, foot stomp games. I see another cut off to my side. Looks like a forkhorn. She will not leave keeps stepping towards me. I finally move my head back and forth a few times and she still does not leave. After about 15 minutes she turns, blows and runs off. She was pretty small so at least none were any I would have shot. Top it off the arrow buried and I lost it.
  13. Man I was so close to just calling off and staying in the stand. I told myself if I see one more deer before 9:30 I'd do that. I didn't so got down to find arrow that I miised yote with. right when I start looking I hear runnin so I ease next to the closest tree. Here come two deer. The first one comes right at me and stops 25 yards from me, a doe. She pegs me and is doing the head bob and foot stomp. The other one cuts behind me and I see it is a small buck maybe a fork. She ends up blowing out. To top it off I lost the damn arrow the ground is so soft. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  14. Just had a 5/6 pt ease by In site for over 20 minutes just slowly wandering back and forth nose down. Same small guy I saw a few days back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Rrrr just missed a yote Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. 37 rain stopped just before heading in. Love when I jump one going in and it runs down the trail I'm going in so I can jump it again and get 5 more blows out of it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. So I skip nite hunt due to steady rains. I see a good break in the radar prob 20 mins. I had a cam I pulled this morn to replace batteries. I found a scrape under apple tree by my field edge stand that is like 50 yards off the backyard I want the cam on. I just run it out quick no bow, sweatpants, flip flops...So not one but 2 grouse walk right across trail in front of me. Get to where I want to hang cam and look into the brush and 2 deer staring at me 15 feet away. Pfffft[emoji85] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Is he sticking his tongue out at you Zem!!?
  19. 10/27 am 34 Out in the far stand this morning for 2 hours. Was spitting snow and a little breezy out. The snow was just a dusting but man I was sure I would see something this morning. I did see a lot of leaves come down with the snow, wind and then sleet/rain.
  20. Thanks for sharing as always Wooly. I could not make it without a few deer in the freezer. Way better than store meat.
  21. 34 a bit breezy and spitting snow. Nice cmon deer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. 10/26 pm 41 Got down in the deep hole stand for 2 hours. Man it was chilly, quiet and not much going on. I did not even see a squirrel! I did hear something walking in the thick stuff behind me a bit before 6pm but nothing ever materialized.
  23. Elmo way to go! First bow buck awesome. I agree with the others that it is a 1.5 year old with broken off antlers. Which as grow said as anything under 3 inches has to be tagged with an antler less tag. It's not a doe tag. I had to burn a buck tag a few years ago on a doe with a 3.5 inch hair covered spike.
