10/14 pm 62 Sat for 1.5 hours above the old hole(atoh) and kept my streak going. I did see one red fox and an owl.

Ha you should not be pessimistic, you already got more venison this year than 99% of us. Plus got a new knee to boot!! I bet you feel a bunch better in 3 weeks or so. Ima go sit in a tree and not see any deer for you!!

10/14 am 42 Sat the Stone stand for 2 hours. It had rained a lot of the night and a big temp drop so I had high hopes. Absolute bust. Pulled some cards on way out and activity is slow. All small bucks. About another 10 days or so and the boys should start wandering more. I need some fields cut down the road!

I'll usually prep my jars and trim cube all the meat the night before and can the next day. Do a batch or two. Then I can make a homemade soup or something as I'm around the kitchen keeping an eye on the temp/pressure gauge. And you get a lot better at keeping constant temps after a couple rounds.

Up and in, 42 degrees Rain stopped early am. Quiet sneak in and drops dripping. Won't hear one for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Moog don't you know deer especially big bucks do not move in warm weather and with a big moon!! This must not have happened!!

LOL he is a good looking deer but is absolutely tame like all the deer around Old Forge. He'd get a pass by me for most of the season if he was not tame and where I was hunting. I had a monster 10 point a few feet from me a couple years ago there.

Canned venison is fantastic. Learned from my grandmother 40 years ago. I can some every year. Just a touch of canning salt and chunks of venison put in the jar. I gotta tell friends and family I am out or they'd eat it all!!

I do not equate pounding your meat to better cooking........

10/11 pm 59 Hit the Stone stand for 2.5 hours. Peaceful with no interruptions.

Had some days off for our annual Adirondack family and friends trip. Did converse with a few deer! This buck was licking my arm lol.

Oh my lord are you concussed? Drunk? Cube steaks.....jeeze thats for tough, cheap meat and makes it better with ketchup!! Shoot more deer so you have good cuts and make sausage, jerky and what not outa those cuts...... Chef, Biz I'm with you guys!! lol

Hope surgery today goes well for you! Hopefully we will keep killing deer to give you something to look at!!

I have way more sightings in crappy weather than (to us) nice weather days. I have learned to get out in adverse weather more than I would like lol. Also a reason I do not run cell cams. It would drive me nuts watching deer where I am not lol.

You guys are doing great. You get a lot of exercise!!

Rob and I use the same place and I know my deer is what I get. I've actually watched there process numerous times. I've seen other shops that scare me. But if you've eaten in any restaurant you have eaten worse lol. Ask some of the restaurant guys on here!! I have butchered a bunch of them and honestly I would rather be hunting. My time is worth more than what the butcher costs...If I had a perfect setup it may be different. I have also not noticed much difference at all in aged venison, it does not age like beef. It certainly does not hurt it but in mho does not do much and wastes meat if done right. I make lots of jerky, sausages and can. I do not make hotdogs though, that's what Costanza's is for!!

10/5 am 40 Hit the new stand out back that is a quick quiet in and out....supposedly. Just about to put my foot on the first rung of the ladder stand and a deer blows up 20 yards from me in the pitch dark. Blows all over. Runs towards the houses and 15 minutes later starts blowing 300 yards over there. Needless to say it got light, I sat 2 hours and nada....
