  1. Maybe get a camera or 2 on paths in and out of area to see if he's still bedding there?
  2. I've still go a lot of learning to do especially with yotes they just were not as plentiful when my dad was trapping so we both have been learning the techniques. This is my first year with a quad that will expand my area a bit as I just don't have time to spend hours walking to check daily...with any luck I'll be posting pics of animals.
  3. Lol damn auto correct I was saying I don't know how I managed without it...
  4. I just bought my first one beginning of this archery season...i will tell you they are loud to set up but they make that up in being able to set up almost exactly where you wanna be Givin there's a tree that can be climbed....i love mine and don't know how I've ever managed without one lol....of course this season was my first bow kill so I guess you could say I didn't manage without it....
  5. Wanted to start a thread for trapping with the season comming shortly. I personally cannot wait. Trapping is one of my favorite things my dad started me when I could walk been in trap setting compititions and to trapping shows all over ny. Now my boy who's 4 is learning the trade as I did.....I'll start with some pics to get it going. This is my boiling rig same as my dad's been building for his whole life.... Idk y it's sideways
  6. Buy them off eBay they will ship here
  7. And that is why I believe there is still and more than likely will always be more good outdoorsman than bad ones....
  8. Yea but for that one experience I've had 100 good ones so I don't look back at it.....i once had a complete strange help me drag out a huge doe I had shot and had been dragging for a few hours completely exhausted....so for that I believe there are many many more good ones out there...
  9. I actually had thay happen with my first buck....i was hunting behind my parents house and there was this lil gully with a creek running thru it. was only about 60 yards wide and open fields on both sides. Well as I was out there constantly all year round I knew the deer laid in the brush so I used to stand on the bank above it and throw some rocks into it to get the deer to stand up. Well it worked and a 4 point stood up and was looking away from me so I pulled up and shot him. He dropped. My dad was sitting in my stand at the other end of gully so I went to get hin stoked as you can imagine so we crossed the creek to retrieve deer only to see it was slowly running towards the woods. So we went to point of exit and started to look and see blood when the landowners brother who was up for the holidays came up and started yelling at us and saying we didn't have permission when I had a signed slip saying we did....i told him I had one down and wanted to retrieve it he told me and my dad to buzz off. I went home called the owner and he asked me to let it go and his bro th e would be gone by end of week. Needless to say that deer was hanging from the tree in the owners yard. Took me 6 years to finally shoot a buck after that...
  10. Button buck at 17 with shotgun....still use same gun to this day
  11. Yes that sucks....i never leave anything on state land due to that. Did have the other family who hunts the tract of private land I hunt ask me if I knew anything about the trail cams he had stolen of course I didn't but told him if I found out anything or saw any one trespassing I'd be sure to get name and address to help try and figure this out. ...public or private they will find them and take them....hopefully the rest of your season is successful good luck
  12. Sorry rob I must have read it wrong or my phone auto corrected it...no worries
  13. Bob....you ever look on ebay for a bow....i bought my parker there a few years back for 150 bucks with all the accessories and arrows shipped.....i ebay all the time buy tons and tons of stuff on it
  14. Not here it might be 60 but windy and rain comes and goes
  15. U go to the adk with a college buddy and we pack in over night one night of our stay it's quite the experience...I'm actually going in a week and half for early muzzle loader season if plans don't change.

  17. Oct 14 2014 In stand again...warm windy and lil bit of rain hoping this storm tonight helps get them moving seen some lil guys chasing the girls maybe get a Crack at one....
  18. Back at it today...warm windy and some rain here in so tier....good luck all
  19. I hear ya gonna boil friday if all goes well picked up some new traps had to move swivels add chain and all that good stuff....my 4 year old asks me daily when we can go
  20. Ik thus is gonna get some cap thrown around me but I have numerous time shot deer within a half hour or so from smoking Including my biggest buck thus far I think the smoke smell is probably better than a straight human smell but also might be luck and coincidence.
  21. Yep no thanks I make bait outta them. Trapping is upon us....almost ready gonna be about a week late myself hopefully the extra prep pays off.....sorry if that was way off topic...
  22. Yea rob I very well could have just gotten a bad arrow only one had the insert come out but I seam to lose nocks constantly but still a good arrow for the price I have no issue with them
  23. I bought a few at wallys for I think 3 bucks a arrow and to be honest they shoot same as my higher dollar stuff....nocks and inserts are cheap that's the downfall but for a extra few to practice with I was happy i know I would be perfectly comfortable taking a shot at a animal with them
  24. I once had one running around me while on the ground still hunting...tried to throw my pocket knife at it....again I was just a kid but swear that squirrel had never been so scared landed just over his back stuck in ground lol damn varmints
