  1. I do think there are areas of the state that could use AR's but that's not what's happening they are trying to put it in to many units at a time. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  2. Nope I'm saying if you are trying to tell other people what and what not to shoot you are not a hunter. You are trying to stack the odds in your favor to get a trophy Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  3. I saw a thing on hunting chanel today about AR's in a state don't remember which one but you had a regular buck tag and a restricted (4 on one side)buck tag. I'd even go with something like that give guys a chance to harvest whatever they want then make them hold out for the second one if they choose to continue hunting Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  4. And more power to you I have no hard feelings we all have different standards...but shoving ideas down others throats on licences they buy is not ok. And I wish you luck gathering a trophy animal Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  5. Passing on small deer doesn't make you a hunter...it makes you a trophy gatherer... Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  6. I hunt all over nys on private and public from alleghany state park thru the fingerlakes and into the adks yearly. The deer population does not need AR's it needs better management thru ought public and private lands. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  7. Yep just trophy hunters trying to jam their ideas down our throats like the elitist bow hunters do with xbow regs Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  8. Not down here you can't I know landowners who were denied I have 4 pp and got denied so not all the same Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  9. But there's no way to be sure the deer in my home area are substantially worse off as far as bone is concerned. You kill a nice 8 down here you hear about it bc most deer are scruby with bad nutrition except on the plots guys manage. Fact is statewide AR's are a terrible cop out for management. I'd prefer to see a 1 buck rule with an additional guaranteed gun doe tag than AR's. AR's only please trophy hunters and no one else. Food nutrition, location habitat and genetics play huge factors in bone size. Want to better the deer herd as a state we need better management of the statelands. Dead cutting hinge cutting clear cutting controlled burns or many of the other ways you can help the survival rate/birth rate of deer. AR's are not the anwser unless you only care about shooting bone. Fact is a 1.5 yr old will breed just as well as a 4 yr old so 1 dead buck is 1 dead buck no matter how you look at it. Just like shooting a small doe could help that momma (proven breeder) doe survive by not having a jumpy yearling hanging around all the time. AR's are just for guys who think the bone on the head is what hunting is about but for the people who actually enjoy the sport of hunting just want to harvest a deer that gets their blood pumping. Want to see how good a hunter you are forget about bone and go to the ADKS and try and even kill a buck shoot or doe for that matter. That's hunting that's what it should be about. We can thank all this to Trail cams They have killed hunting. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  10. Yes but AR's would not affect those numbers bc still covered in doe tags. So they have 0 idea on how old my 4 pt was could have been 11 on his downswing with terrible genetics and food Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  11. Man these last 2 posts are spot on Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  12. Just outta curiosity how does on know they yearling take is high? We don't have to report age just male female and number of points. Points don't determine age...could say bb take sure but those would still be killed with AR's as they are doe tags Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  13. In the daks looking down hill in the fall you can see alot further than one would think idk about being able to shoot that far but can definatly see it Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  14. My dad's is still at dealer bought it in December still has yet to ride it...hopefully within a few weeks Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  15. Lol a few of the guys used to put 5 bucks on closest to the eye on some of the older targets before they hit the dumpster was fun to watch. Another game we used to play in the spring league was on the outdoor range they had a long range with big back stop and we would fold a dollar in half back up 80 yards all put 5 or 10 on the table and take turns trying to hit the bill. Was a good time I kid you not the guy who won it the most shot stick bows also shot high 280s+ every week. Was a blast to watch him shoot as a kid. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  16. Just bought mulch today and boat should be done in a few weeks I'll make a thread up on the work I did when done lol Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  17. Some of my favorite times as a 13 yr old kid shooting league with my dad with all his work Buddy's. Consistently shot 220 ish really wish I had time to get back into a league at the time I thought it was wierd guys had to look thru binos to find the 10 ring now I get it...o and why not to have brightly colors nocks. If your a good shot they make good point of aim. We shot a indoor league all winter and an outdoor league come spring....good times Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  18. We also had chair shots where you had to sit down...always my worst shot Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  19. Lol math was wrong...good shooting tho...stick bow or compound? And we also had 30 with Max 300 Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  20. When I shot league with my dad years ago it was 10 bull,8 in ring,5 outside if I remember right. So if I did math right second would be better score Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  21. If you shoot from a sol8d rest (clamp in style lead sled) I guy once told me to put cross hairs on spot Bullet hit then dial cross hairs to center using knobs. Never tried it personally so don't bank on it but thought it was a cool thought if I ever get that solid of a rest to sight in from I may try it Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  22. Absolutly I don't run cams probably never will for deer (want to run them over trap sights to watch critters work sets) every deer I take is an accomplishment and a trophy to me. It takes time in woods and knowing how to beat them at thier own game. I killed my first bow buck this season and even tho a 5 pt it means the world to me along with the 3 doe I killed with my bow also. And the little doe I killed with my 12 yr old cuz standing next to me on his first thanksgiving day stateland hunt. There is a feeling that I get when I see hear or feel a deer (or any animal) present and I know that I have a chance to outsmart them on their own turf. It could be the smallest deer and I start shaking and sweating trying to control my breathing and just before I take the shot time stops for that split second and then the adrenaline takes over. Trophy hunting in my opinion is ruining the sport of hunting it puts to much pressure on guys to take big boned deer. I understand the mature deer lvl but a old doe to me will bust you out of a tree 100 times before that buck does. Especially durring the rut. I hope that never goes away for me bc if it does I doubt I'll be in the woods nearly as much as I am now. And I agree the cam rule for P&Y is a good rule in my book. How many in that book are from guys who put time in the stand to achieve their goal. Cams are great technology but are taking away from the challenge and stacks the deck in our favor could almost call it cheating and when trying to play a game with an animal we all respect I'll keep it as even playing field as I can. 23. Great anwser...I think it was Fred bear who said if you measure success in inches you should have been a yardstick maker. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  24. Cool looks like a fun hobby. Maybe someday I'll give it a try. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  25. I'd have to agree...good looking bow shoot it who knows maybe you will like it Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
