Trust me they are out there.
-
Not all of them, but I manage to do pretty well through trial and error. This tree is my favorite because it is right in my friend's back yard, so I can access it without bothering deer. Every buck in the area has to come pound on this poor spruce. The tree behind it was planted the same time as this one, so its a bit stunted. I have hunted there 4 years now and I consistently get 10+ different bucks every year.

I almost hit this guy with my truck yesterday am.. At first I assumed it was the big 10 I already had on camera http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/12202-10-pointers-transformation/ , but when I checked my trusty trail cam there was a different big 10 on there. The more I looked at this new buck the more familiar he looked... I realized he is a buck I call "Krunk" because of his messed up right side. He looks a little different this year but his left side is basically the same and you can see an irregularity in the main beam on the right side between the G2 and G3.. I passed both of these big boys the last afternoon of last year's bow season as 3 year olds, which was the 2nd time I passed on this buck. These are the first 2 bucks I've had make it to the next season after I passed on them. Either one will work for me this year...

Almost hit a 150s 10pt coming off the farm i hunt. Assumed it was the same buck i had on camera 3 weeks ago. Checked that cam- nope, different buck. 2 150+ 10s in the neighborhood- i am pumped! I have the Tink's blow up doll dekes out front with the wind in my face..

Thanks guys. You should see all the shredded bark around the base of the tree...

Bucks chasing in 7h. Nice 3 yr old 9pt bumping does at 4:30.
-
I thought it was pretty cool when the geese flew over, really made it feel like fall.
-
More mock rub action. The 10 point towards the end is 5 years old. Hasn't changed much over the last 3 years. I've only ever seen him once.
-
A nice young 8 point that is also featured in my last Mock Rub video. 100%

Nice deer and awesome photo! Looks classic!
-
Looks shy of 130 and I'm not so sure he has all typical points on the left side. It almost looks like the main beam might be shorter.
-
Mock rub from the last trail cam video I posted @ 33 yards.
-
They often thrash the branch with their antlers as well. I also have several clips of does rearing up on their hind legs and striking at the branch just like they would if they were fighting another doe.

Not a cub for sure

Bushnell trophy cam

Don't worry, I didn't dig that deep!

Yes- just like a dog. There were 2 other fox visits and they peed/pooped there too. 25 yards to the left of the rub tree. I shot the buck in my avatar there in 2008 from the ground. Yes- my neighbor asked me to cut a bunch of aborvitaes(white cedar) down around his house. His son (who thinks he is the great white hunter) had planted them as a teenager. I knew just what to do with them. Kind of poetic.
-
No scent- just made it look like the real deal. It helps that its out in the open too. I left out all the extra doe footage. They are as interested in it as the bucks. I put some Smokey's Preorbital gland lure on the licking branch on the last check, so we'll see what that does.

I think we (myself and growalot) are both curious about the disabled/padlock thing on a bow. I seriously have never heard or read that. Not having an arrow on the string is the same as not having your gun loaded.
-
Bubba- can you show me where in the regs it says the bow has to be disabled? This is the first I have heard this but I may have missed it.

This is an offshoot thread from the bowhunting harvest thread. In response to the situations above I hope the friends fought the tickets in court. In the first example the hunter was ticketed based on a relative term with no evidence either way that would say exactly when the deer was shot. In the second example there is no statement in the NY hunting regulations that says you have to be out of the woods by sunset. That would also mean that you can't enter the woods before sunrise? The only exception would be if you were hunting a state park and it had its own additional rules. I believe to be legally "hunting" it means you have an arrow knocked or ammunition in your gun, but I may be remembering this from a different state's regulations.

No lease, just permission. The microphone on the camera picks up a lot of noise and makes some things sound a lot louder than they are. If you listen closely in the 2nd video you can even hear the zoom go in and out. You can't hear that at all when using it. I am going to try to mess with the settings so it doesn't do that. We'll see- I only paid $200 for it.

Phade- I shot a doe out of it 2 weeks ago. She was on my right side meaning I had to twist around a bit. It felt awkward from the waist down but I felt rock solid. The GW is more bulky and heavy than my Tree Saddle but I sat in the TS the other night and was reminded within 5 minutes of just how much more comfortable the GW is. Also- I figured out how to silence the buckles using ponytail elastics. I'll have to post a picture. I too am going to Ohio from 11/3-11/9. Hocking Hills.

Just a Sony handicam. I'm looking into attaching it to my stabilizer. I still am not willing to sacrifice a chance at a big buck for a little footage though...

Sorry this video is so long but trust me, it's good all the way to the end.
