  1. For driving , I like some Kid Rock or ICP(insane clown posse) so I can get out a bit of aggression and belt out the lyrics, which shouldn't be said in public! lol
  2. My condolences to you and yours.Travel safely. Just lost my Gramps last year and Gram the year before. I know it's not easy saying goodbye, but their memories live on through us. I'm gettin ready to go give the coyotes some hell for a few hours.
  3. Joe, been doin some diggin' I see! I'd have to declare myself a true blue country boy. With music preferences ranging from Hank Williams Sr., clear on up to modern country like Jason Aldeen and Luke Bryan. Classic and southern rock run a close second with stuff from back in the 70's like Aerosmith, Charlie Daniels Band, The Outlaws, The Marshall Tucker band, Pure Prairie League. I can't leave out Bob Seger who I was glad to see get inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame, a couple years ago.
  4. I like that! That old dog probably had that sign made in his likeness and it would probably be a hoot to have a conversation with him. I'm not old, I'll be 30 in 4 months. I have a great deal of respect for the elderly folks of this era, they're also known as the greatest generation and a prouder bunch would be tough to find.
  5. A few strip of surveyors tape around the blind couldn't hurt! When I sit during gun season I always hang my vest up off the ground so that it' more visible.
  6. Awe great! We go from Cuomo to Juomo! Lol, just bustin' ya' Joe! Yeah give er' a shot, just do it right or we'll all be on ya'. That'd surely make any guy shake like a dog crapping out a burdock! Oh, but the again, Slowbama does have 3X as many secret service agents guarding him than any other Pres. in our history!
  7. SHHHHhhhh! what the DEC don't know wont kill em'! LOL I don't think very many NY hunters actually target bear, atleast compared to predators. They might just look at it as since the bears den up/hibernate during winter months, that it probably won't be a problem. Then again, do our bears stay denned even if we get a warm/mild snap? Not sure.
  8. Yep, reg book says, "in any manner". I take baiting as a legal manner due to it being legal for preds. I know some hog guys soak whole kernel corn in diesel fuel to deter coons and deer. Just not sure how the ECOs will see it. Diesel soaked corn probably won't lose it's diesely smell from rain.
  9. Yeah the DEC wants help from hunters to eradicate them, but in turn they don't want hunters targeting them due to their fear of hunters spreading them out from hunting pressure. They gave up on the trapping venture(which did get some results) because of the expense of the operation. Well well, looks as if cuomo has got plenty of money, so why not give the DEC the means to prevent the spreading population? Oh I forgot, he wants to increase tourism while the farmers could face extensive loss from these destructive beasts, and that's not to mention the fact that wild/feral russian boars can be dangerous. So in one way I hope the hogs don't multiply for the sake of our native animals, plants, and farmers. On the other hand, I almost wish the hogs would become nasty and dangerous, so much that folks wouldn't want to venture into the wild without a 10 round clip in their brand new AR! LOL I guess that last statement was a little deep, but cuomo has stirred the pot and the emotions of alot of hard working, law abiding, taxpaying citizens!
  10. I'v heard that before(first), but my diet requires animal protien. I work construction and don't get much satisfaction from a pile of veggies!LOL Actually, we always eat some venison from our first deer right away and has always brought luck and it's sort of a tribute to the deer. Someone mentioned patience, that's exactly it. Ground stalking can be one of the most productive tactics. Choose the times right, like just before or after a rain. Before a rain means that any scent you leave in or near their bedding areas will soon be washed away. After a rain, the ground cover will be soft and allow you to be almost silent. An early season stalk at mid day when alot of deer are bedded down is a great for scouting too and if they're most likely bedded down, why wouldn't you seek them out?
  11. Then they all moved into the triple cities! lol
  12. I've heard of trying to mask my scent with skunk essence, but most predator hunters agree that a coyotes nose can't be fooled and that if you were to bathe in cover scent, to them you'd just smell like a human covered in scent. I might give it a try though, what could it hurt, although lately the snow is so crunchy that I don't want to do any extra walking around. In the middle of the night when everything is silent, crunchy snow is terribly loud.
  13. That's what it boils down to, I don't like the law breakers who endanger hunting.
  14. Well put. I see why some folks saw my comments as being for the anti, believe me that's not my motive.
  15. I hear ya' there and I'm not meaning to place any blame on the good guys. It's the lazy ones, like you said, hunting from trucks n' such. I get pretty fired up about this sort of negative attention on hunting, any hunting. I just keep writing because I feel like some don't take it seriously, then what happens, some sort of bull crap like the safe act.
  16. Point well taken. That's the thing. I don't want to see hound hunting go away.I know folks who do it and there are a bunch of guys on here who love it and do it the right way. I don't think it's wrong, as they have just as much right to enjoy the outdoors as anybody else. I don't like giving the antis any leeway and just want the eyes taken off our sport.
  17. Needless to say that I've had coyote hounds in my scope on many occasions. After all, they are canines running through the woods! Oh, in Delaware County might I add. Hey, just like old Aarron Tippin said, "You got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything". I have views and express them when and where I see fit, you might call me a "people pleaser"! Heh Heh!
  18. Exactly, within legal definitions. There must be atleast a few that don't follow the rules. Feel free to prove that wrong, but it can't be done unless you're following on the bootheels of every houndsman in NYS. I'll put it this way, doesn't it upset you that our sport is in danger? It does me, and someone (houndmen) need to make it right by by setting the record straight. I simply wan't them to take their own stand so that my sport is not put in jeopardy for something that I never take part in. Yes, the 2nd amendment debacle weaseled it's way in. So why sit back and blow this off, in light of the fact that coyote hunting could possibly be taken away? It's not throwing under a bus, it's more like start treading water houndsmen and own a bit of responsibility , or I'll knock you off my boots like mud after a day of work! I don't hold my tounge in hopes of gaining the likeability award from everyone who calls themselves hunters. I believe if you create the problem and bring scrutiny to the table, then you should clean it up. You guys may not agree with my standpoint on this issue. That's ok. Guess I'm just a bit rebellious, like my gggg grand daddy who fought the british in White plains & Saratoga, but I'm not the problem! I highly cherish my rights and privledges to be a NYS hunter, so why the feck would I oblige the antis in any aspect. I don't! Just venting my frustrations of the flack that hunting gets due to a few bad apples. Oh, by the way, no luck on the yotes last night. Had one get downwind of me. Never saw it, just the tracks on my way out.
  19. Waste of time even reading that! No offense to the ones that posted it. Talking up NYS for bringing in the $ $?? What a crock! That doesn't include the $ spent on gas to go hunting/fishing. I burn through $100 or more a week just traveling to my hunting grounds, so why should I care about a measly saving on my license? Like someone else said, there are bigger things as Governor to be looked at.......Like maybe gas prices! Aren't big/small game already combined? No reason whatsoever for a year round coyote season! None.
  20. Speaking as a fellow hunter who wants the threats against all predator hunting to cease, I don't think you can speak for all houndsmen because from what you wrote you sound as if you keep it clean and abide by laws. So the antis must not be talking of you. If the antis claims are truly unfounded, then awareness of the truth should be publicly announced so that the treehugging anti hunter/ anti gun people can be proven wrong. When I posted this--"Lets ask our fellow NYS deer hunters, would they want dogs running deer from Oct.1st-mid Dec. while they are trying to hunt deer? I wouldn't,and that's where I am with this topic". I simply meant that people hunting deer with dogs all throughout deer season would make most deer hunters quite upset. Right? So why should predator hunters have to put up with it? Yes, only hunting on private land is one thing and I commend you in striving for that, but can you guarantee 100% that a dog will not cross my boundary and upset my hunt? That scenario in reverse would be like me catching your dog and chaining it to the guardrail til' you tracked it down, loaded him in the truck, and go home without a coyote. The antis are standing up against our hunting privledges, not because I go sit in the woods with a call and a rifle. You don't see, hear, or smell me because I'm off the road, on private land and bothering no one. There is a battle going on with antis and I don't take too kindly to my sport being threatened! For you guys who spoke up and defended hunting with hounds, awesome! That's what needs to happen! Don't think for a minute that anti hunters will back off. If their claims are not rebuked, they will take that as an admittance to what you're doing is wrong. Whew! I'm outta' breath after that! Night folks, I'm goin' yote huntin' tonight
  21. Awesome! Thanks. I just didn't want to run out and have to wait for another kit to be delivered.
  22. That's a tyrranical statement, but I understand you're just standing up for your sport. Same here. Lets aks our fellow NYS deer hunters, would they want dogs running deer from Oct.1st- mid Dec. while they are trying to hunt deer? I wouldn't, and that's where I'm at with this topic. Again, I'm not going against houndsmen, but I have every right to my beliefs and just want to preserve my sport.
