  1. Eat? Not me. Coyotes eat some pretty rank stuff. I'd rather stick to herbivores! I pay more like $14 for a fresh killed(unskinned) yote and $10 for fox. Must be fresh or frozen, no green bellies!
  2. Speaking of crows. My dad has a Primos power dogg electronic call which he uses for predators. It came with a "crow rally" preset call. It's funny when he plays it, swarms of crows come in from all directions. It's true that predator calling can become addictive. I started going with my dad when I was a youngster 20-25 years ago. Then when I hit 12 I would venture out @ night by myself. These days my fiance calls me obsessed with hunting. I love predator hunting as much as archery deer season, which is hard to top! I've hunted fox/yotes almost religously @ night with lights and occasionally my dads nightvision, but hearing of your success on calling them in during daylight opens alot of doors for my "obsession"!!! Thanks for that!!! You guys should check out the youtube videos from DownWindOutdoors. They film alot of daytime hunts and they are here in NY.
  3. Cool! Thanks for the info. That's a bummer about the Otselic. That's another one I had in mind.
  4. Nice yote. Is that the "fishin" pose? If not, that howa is pointed right at your melon.
  5. Cool stories. I am a pred hunter. Heading out now actually!
  6. I never had any action on fish. Of course it was in the hills where walleye carcasses are un-natural. Most of my predators prefer mammals!
  7. Very nice! Thanks for sharing. It always brings back alot of memories.
  8. It's plenty for .22mag range(max 100yds.). I use it for a kill light, meaning I turn it on to make a positive ID and shoot. I scan with a handheld light with a red filter.
  9. As a deer hunter you know that deer can just appear outta nowhere Lol, so it would be nice to have a few down the trail a little ways to alert you to get ready. As DOC said relying on it to cover a wide range sounds like more hassle than it's worth, especially when you have to leave more scent when setting them up, but if you have a specific trail/rub/scrapeline then it might be useful. Using it for coyote baitpiles could help. I've sat over baitpiles all night with no action. Partly due to having the bait out in the open. Coyotes are cautious by nature and keeping bait somewhat secluded is best, but @ night if they're in the brush they don't stand out like they do in an open/snowy spot. I don't like to shine the light if I'm hunting over bait, so the alarms could be invaluable for that.
  10. If you're ever in autozone @ the checkout register, just look down. The brand is "police security". Not a bad light for $14
  11. No mount with it. I just used a scope ring and mounted it to a universal rail.
  12. I called 1 in a few nights ago. I flubbed @ 50yd. shot. It can get very frustrating, but when you do connect it is awesome.
  13. I've considered trying it out. On PredatorMasters forum under the "baiting" section there is a 90+ page thread with alot of discussion on that topic.
  14. I hope you don't have humans lurking in your back yard!
  15. Good luck with the hunting. I just wanted to point out that buckshot is illegal for deer hunting, but that'll all be in the regulations book.
  16. Thanks guys. The light is just one I picked up @ Autozone for $14. Nope, no yotes with it(Check thread title LOL) I'm hoping to find out how it does, real soon!
  17. Hey ya' never know!! I'm not a sceptic or a believer, but have learned not to discount what I cannot prove. I was told by a family member that they found a deer carcass up in a tree down in the catskills while they were building the Millenium pipeline.
  18. Not sure where that is but, welcome to the forum Tom!
  19. Welcome to the forum. I'm just to the south in Broome. Do you know how the trout fishing has been in the Genny since the floods? I haven't fished it since my youth. It sounds like you folks love your huntin',so you're in the right place! Don't forget that red squirrels are UNprotected and can be hunted anytime!!!
  20. I got this link from a credible guy on a NY predator hunters forum. All it asks for is your Email address, name, and location(optional).
  21. Need I say more? Here's the link. It takes only 2 minutes to create an account & sign it. Folks from all over the country are signing it.https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/impeach-governor-andrew-cuomo/b4NBSNTR
  22. The only deer aging I need is by the date written on the pack in the freezer! Lol I won't be able to attend.

    winter carp

I remember jigging up my biggest carp ever during mid winter from the Susquehanna river. My brother left the minnows @ the launch so I fished from shore while he motored back down for them. We were targeting walleye. It was just a plain 3/8oz bucktail. When I hooked up I thought I had the state record walleye! Nope, just a slob carp.
