  1. Wonder how many were from out of state crossbow pushers?
  2. You and I both know that the percentage of hunters that are NYB members is not truly a referendum on the organization. It is dishonest to insinuate that it is.....otherwise we would need to extend your logic to other orgs and say that most gun owners disagree with the NRA, for example. Most hunters are too apathetic to join any organization.....but I am sure you know that.
  3. We are not talking about driving. We are talking about hunting. If you drive over the speed limit....you are a speeder. If you take a deer outside of the legal season or hours....you are a poacher. I sure as heck wouldn't want to be considered a poacher....how about you?
  4. The point is that while everyone whines about crossbows, only NYB actually does something for those who need help. I'll bet the vast majority of those who say they "need" a crossbow to continue to bowhunt, or return to bowhunting, could be helped by the equipment and the programs that NYB has put in place. Perhaps they don't really want to bowhunt, after all......they just want to crossbow hunt?
  5. I find it ironic when guys get all indignant about the NYB and their stance on crossbows. The truth is that NYB has done FAR more for physically disabled bowhunters than all of the crossbow pushing loudmouths put together. The Physically Challenged Committee was formed to assist those Physically Challenged hunters who thought that they would never again be able to bowhunt, to in fact enjoy our sport once again. The NYB Physically Challenged Committee has led the nation in developing innovative accessories and techniques which allows Physically Challenged hunters to legally bowhunt with modified archery equipment. The Physically Challenged Committee has helped numerous hunters from across New York State and the country to get back out into the outdoors to enjoy bowhunting once again. This list of hunters includes paraplegics, quadriplegics, amputees, the blind and the deaf to name just a few. Many other hunters with various illnesses and diseases have also been helped by the committee. For more information on available physical challenged equipment, please contact NYB or DEC, Hunter Education Dept. at 50 Wolf Rd., Albany, NY 12233. An informative video tape titled "ARCHERY: THE SPIRIT IS ALIVE" may be obtained for $21.95 from: The US Archer, 7315 N San Anna Drive, Tucson, AZ 85704. The video highlights many of devices that are available to the physical challenged hunter.
  6. Yea...I don't see how any one could feel proud of a deer they took illegally.
  7. NYB protects bowseason and bowhunters. They are the collective voice of bowhunters in NY...whether you like it or not.
  8. It is our responsibility as hunters to know, understand, and follow all of the regulations. Ignorance is not an excuse.
  9. I guess I am just a bit more picky about game laws, and really don't see them as simply suggestions or some kind of judgement calls. I also understand the ECO scarcity situation and understand that we all have to be a bit more responsible in policing ourselves. I get pretty out of sorts whenever I hear of somebody poaching or bending and breaking other hunting laws and have very little sympathy with all the excuses manufactured to rationalize breaking any of the laws that govern hunting. I have no problems with people putting extra additional restrictions on shooting times or conditions, but I find it no problem at all to note the sunrise and sunset times when I check the weather forcasts and wind direction predictions before I go out hunting, and then abide by them as a minimum effort to comply with that law. What exactly is so difficult about that? As far as not being able to take the time to glance at your wrist to check the time, I hope nobody is in that much of a hurry to take a shot. It's not really an issue where you have to make any judgement calls ...... thankfully. The law is clear. Every year I hear some of those shots in the dark where people are supposedly using their "judgement". I guess that's why some of those laws were written. Look, I understand temptation and understand that always complying with game laws is not an easy thing to do. But as hunters we need to be picky about such things. It really is up to us to be self-policing because the law enforcement branch of the DEC is never again going to be adequate to handle that job. Amen.
  10. That's really sad. I hope you are wrong.
  11. So all of the ethical hunters are liars and all of the unethical cheaters are virtuous? LMAO.
  12. What tags are you using? Mine don't have a spot for any time. Are you really a New York hunter? Seems like we used to on the old mail in reports. I don't like your tone, Mister. > I hunt horns nowadays....been a few years since I had to fill out a tag, unfortunately.
  13. For all you ten minute before and after guys.....what do you enter for "time killed" on the report?
  14. You are a nasty little fella, aren't you? If all crossbowers are this obnoxious, we should keep them illegal.
  15. There is a Fair Chase aspect to this, too. If you are not following the letter of the law.....you are not hunting Fair Chase.
  16. Is it legal? No. If you would shoot....shame on you.
  17. First half of October. Works for me.. then I would definitely buy one.. I imagine a lot of folks would, and the state would sell a lot more crossbow stamps than they would by just adding them to bowseason. But for every pro crossbow guy like yourself that could accept a reasonable compromise, there is a radical activist like Sitsintrees who demands everything. So....there remains radical crossbow opponents who would allow nothing. So instead of a win-win, and a reasonable ending to a controversial issue ..... we get bitter infighting and finger pointing. And idiotic statements about dancing on faces.
  18. So should I dance on your face until then? You are gonna have a sore face.
  19. Yea... I'm too busy laughing at the stupidity of Sits to notice much else....LMFAO.
  20. Illegal is illegal, friend. I would take no joy in killing a nice 8pt illegally.....or any deer, for that matter. I know it is illegal. It was a question what would you do in this situation.Dave Had to pass nice deer at both ends of the day before due to the time, and not the light. I'm sure it'll happen again, too. Rules are rules.
  21. Illegal is illegal, friend. I would take no joy in killing a nice 8pt illegally.....or any deer, for that matter.
  22. We have a pool for first shot....and yes, it is always illegal. >
  23. All or nothing. OK....you get nothing. YOU are part of the obstacle to getting crossbows for those who need them, then. Enjoy gun season with your crossbow. LMAO.
