Is it possible to make this or create a thread like this and make it a sticky. It seems like most new hunters have the same questions and it would prevent the veterans from rewriting the same info over and over. I know it probably get tiresome.

Lol I shud have it in a week and I traded my henry 44 for a Savage model 11 .270.
-
Yea it's the heavy barreled one. I'll look into some of those as well From what I've been reading it handles 12ga with no problems, so 20ga should be fine
-
Do any of you use a red dot on your slug gun? I ordered a H&R 20ga ultra hunter and I'm thinking of using a bushnell trs 25 on it. I have one on my 44 mag Lever action and get 2.5 inch groups at 100 yards. Since the shotgun is pretty much a 100 yard gun do you think this would be a good set up?

Would laying out attractant scents be considered baiting?

What are you hunting and shooting with?
Borngeechee replied to Borngeechee's topic in General Hunting
A marlin 795 for squirrel and a Rossi 44 mag and Savage 270 for deer. I would love to bring out the 45-70 but that's if I KNEW I would see a bear. -
Hunting season is officially here, so what are you hunting and what are you using?

I think the squirrels and mosquitoes were plotting against us.

Finally received my Sterling permit today.

Racist? No a person who speaks the truth.

I agree. There is a huge lack of pride and self reliance. I work with the agency that provides section 8 and public assistance. The people that come in there act as if that is how it should be. They come in with $200 sneakers and $100 jeans on yet have no job. It bothers me to no end.- 59 replies

I'm def hunting public this year. I'm going to be hunting Sterling. The lady in the office said I can scout as soon as my permit arrives which should be in a week according to her. What made me ask this question was the fact that I noticed a lot of people looking for leases so it made me wonder. Thanks to Elmo I've been doing a lot of "pre scouting" via Google Earth and a bunch of Google Kung fu. I have everything I need equipment wise and probably some I dont. I plan on going in a mile or so depending on what signs I can pick up and hope that pays off as well as a push from other guys with their guns pushing the deer my way.

I think my idea of success will be the same as most. I think most hunters know that harvesting an animal isn't 100% but there intent is to harvest that animal. Not getting one won't be considered a fail because most hunters are outdoorsman and enjoy being out harvest or not but I doubt not harvesting would be considered a success. Maybe if their purpose was just to collect data but that's a different story.

That's a great record
-
Do you have any idea of where u plan on hunting
-
Does anyone have an idea of what the harvest success rate is on public vs leased/private land? Is one better than the other r is it pretty much a toss up based on location?
-
Awesome. .. I would love that

Lyme disease is transmitted through a bite from a specific type of tick. The animals that most often carry these insects are white-footed field mice, deer, raccoons, opossums, skunks, weasels, foxes, shrews, moles, chipmunks, squirrels, and horses. The majority of these ticks have been found in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
