Thanks for all the replies. Now I'm just looking for a used one. I drive a lot while I work so I always used to see them. Next time I'm going to stop. I also plan on taking a piece of conduit and making a stabilizer with something buoyant attached to the ends. Sounds like my canoe idea isn't the first nor as dumb/odd as I thought.
-
I was thinking about buying a canoe. Yes a canoe. It won't be anything nice, just need one to float. So what do you guys think about using a canoe to get through those spots where you know of the untouched island or deep marsh land. I'm just trying to think outside the box to get a possibility of a massive buck this season.

No matter how great of a spot I find I always seem to find a "better" one or a "better" tree. It's just my problem with women too ;p but in the end I just go with whatever one I feel lucky in at the moment.

Yeah, I got it because honestly I was broke and I picked mine up for under 200 I think for stainless and a scope. The quality is amazing I must say with it. Either way, for $200 you can't go wrong. You could just sell it and only lose say $50. I've spent more money on subway in the past year

Okay, sounds good. I might make some calls around and see how much it would cost to start it. I'm in college and don't have the money yet at this point in my life to shell out to a non-profit. I started one before and it is pretty big now, but the initial start of them is very costly -
Definitely, I am a young guy and always willing to help out my neighbors or friends. Same would be for landowners. I had permission on a nice spot before it was sold and bought the owner a gift card for dinner for Christmas as a thanks

Wanted....Ladder Treestand
CuseHunter replied to Arrow Flinger's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Any time in the off season like now you can get a ladder stand for the price someone wants used. Trust me, I have tried buying used off of Craigslist and if you find anyone for a good price you are lucky. For some reason everyone wants what they paid for them. They always say it's a $250 stand. I'm selling for $180... I've never paid the MSRP of an actual stand. But for some reason people all the time think they can get top dollar for used stands -

Anyone else have any input on this? -
One thing I can add though is the breach plug is nice, and havnt had any issues, but over time I can saw with corrosion and such it may need to be replaced to ensure it will constantly have a clean connection with the powder. That being said, since the gun is doscontinued, I would grab an extra while you can. I got one on ganders website for less than $15

I hunt near tully. Truxton, a healthy amount of deer there. That's an understatement

I've never misfired with it. It is deadly accurate even with the fact I never played with rounds or loads. Put 100gr of 777 and a 350 gr hornady FPB and shoot 2" groups at 100 and said, yep good enough. I bought the best lithium battery I could find at Wally World just so I had no doubt it would work. The SS barrel I have is beyond resistant to corrosion. I left a round in there with the charge for a year (dumb me) shot it in the back yard and scrubbed it clean. Looks new. The stock is so neat looking too, I love the webbed pain design on it. I will say though, stick to 777's or that 209 blackthorn stuff because I tried the whitehot powder and it barely ever fired. It was the first powder I bought for the gun and almost threw the gun out thinking it was a piece of sh!t but I switched to 777 and never had a problem, and I don't baby my guns in the field like some

Why dont we have a dove season in NY? The Answer
CuseHunter replied to mike rossi's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Yeah, it definitely stayed with me, as dumb as it sounds. Don't like to hunt birds anymore. I wouldn't mind going squirrel hunting a try sometime though. I just love being in the woods any chance I get usually preparing for the deer season. It's sad that I spend the most money and time in the off season as I do in season- 24 replies

The primos DLC automatically takes pics every "x" seconds. I set it to 10. But it's mainly for situations that you want to watch large areas and can't rely on getting the sensor to trigger. Like a field. Not sure how well it will work but for $40 when originally !$100 I couldn't pass it up.

So bow 2014 we are going to tully to slay that monster you've been trying to get for years right?
-
I remeber reading about them somewhere as I always find myself online reading (like I am now). I've heard good things, but if I remember there were concerns of actual hunting applications and wether they will do damage. Only one way to find out I always say...

Thanks for the input. Definitely makes me want to just go out there and do it. I was looking on the Onondaga county GIS system and finding who owns what land and definitely need to give it a try. I like meeting new people. Who knows one of them might have a hot daughter for me

I can't say enough how much I like my covert DLC cams. They are great and affordable. The A-5 is super affordable at 70-75$ and performs well. I have the mp6 and like it. I prefer to buy the older models like the primos DLC I picked up at dicks for $40 on sale, and the moultrie L-50 which you can get for $50. They do the job and if some scum steals them I won't be so mad as to hunt down every person I see in the woods. Check out wingsupply frequently for nice sales, and they often offer 10-15% off with codes I find on chasingame forums

(Don't tear me apart people) Okay, so I'm just throwing this out there... CVA made a .50 cal a while back called the Electra. It uses a 9v battery instead of the standard primer. I bought it because I did some reading and heard only good things. They knew introducing such a different setup everything must be top notch, and it is. I use a lithium battery so it works in the worst imaginable conditions. They come with a bergara barrel which are very accurate. What sold me though is how cheap they are because not many people want to buy them because its different. Look on the sportsmanguide site and you can get a sweet looking SS barrel gun for a fraction of the cost of anything else. I love mine, but people will give you crap about it. I just silence them when I bring home a buck and they complain how their primer wouldn't work because it got wet.
-
I bought a nice CVA with a bergara barrel and shoot decent groups 1.5-2" at 100 yards. I never had the chance or money to sit there and play around with loads and bullets. I bought the hornady FPB (not sure if correct spelling) and I can say they they fit really tight in my barrel. Almost too tight for my liking. I pulled one out after the season and it was a pain in the @$$ and had the twist of the barrel imprinted in the round. But then again they do shoot pretty good even though I haven't compared them to anything else. I tried the white hot pellets hearing only good things about them but I would have mid fires 7/10 times so I just have them sitting here at home. Switched to the 777 pellets and like them for the ease. I shot 100gr 777 and a 350gr sabot and can't complain about much in terms of accuracy. Gets the job done good enough to where I am confident to hunt

I live in camillus NY, about 15 min west of Syracuse. Needless to say there is just isn't the available public land like there is near me as most of the state has. Is there any hunting clubs or ranges that offer members hunting access that you know of? I like the camillus range near my house but they aren't a sportsman/ hunter group of guys. Brett
