  1. Replaced the old noching points, retuned and shot a few arrows with broadheads. Still getting nice groups out to what I feel is my effective range. Weather will be crappy for a couple days, so will use that time to shoot more and make sure I am comfy with the bow and my gropus over that time. Planning on hitting the woods Friday morning for the first time this season. Already have those pre-hunt gremlins in my belly.
  2. Seeing how a neibor complained about me shooting my bow in my yard, and I had to give them the facts on what's legal and not legal. I don't think they will be too happy to see me cutting up a deer or two on my picnic table, so I need to know of a place to take a deer. Anyone know of such a place?
  3. I am considering a small wall tent for the private land camp. I think that and a wood stove would help by buddy be willing to camp in colder weather. Would have been nice for this season if had the time, seeing the deer I scouted all summer bed down 100 yds from where we camp, and like to use our "potty spot " just as much as we do. LOL
  4. Good going. Two in the book and still early i the season.
  5. I love it. I keep trying by buddies dad into letting us make some form of real camp, maybe even just an old extended vav, insulate it and get a generator, that way I can use it as a hunting camp too..I will keep trying..LOL The lil woman and I have thought about getting a small camper, just so we a place to get out of the elements. July week long trip was hell the first 3 days. Two small hurricanes came through. I still don't know how I kept the fire going...
  6. Still use a tent. Have three set ups. One for backpacking, don't do this much anymore. One for car trips, big tent and a queen air mattress so as mentioned, the little woman is happy. So am I to be honest, I like that air matress! One me and a buddy use on his parents land, large tent and we both have a cot. We ATV in, so we can have a few comforts. We call it Camp Nowhere. I will try to get a few pics in from last summer at Camp Nowhere. It's about 3/4 a mile in, and the only big issue is the dang coyote pack that likes to wake us up in the middle of the night. This summer we remade the fire pit, a little bigger, and higher on one end to help feed wood when cooking and to help with smoke.
  7. Using what? Easton or CX?
  8. Ya don't! But, if I am paying for a guided hunt, I would expect some amenities. Not just "Here's a tree, sit by it, and you might get a deer.".
  9. Been showing her that stuff for the 5 years we been together. Right now, we want to buy a house with land. So the 4-wheeler I have will be just fine. The boat can wait, my Jeep is just fine for now, and my boots are great. I did mention, a bow that made in this decade would be nice.....But, I ain't pushing my luck. LOL LOL bkln, She might......Depends who has to take the dog out last tonight.
  10. Yep. Took it out of her truck, have it in a tree right now, airing out. Will put it in plastic and bring it in before bed. But, I was right. She wanted something. Apple picking, AGAIN!, on Sunday. You would think three times already was enough! LOL
  11. Outstanding! The next thing you know, they will be able to drag the deer for ya bro.
  12. The lil woman got home, we ate dinner, then she says, "I forgot my phone in my truck. Can you grab it for me?". After a bit of "Woman!.......", I went to get the phone. I opened the door and there was a brand new Mossy Oak hunting coat in there for me. I love my babe! She don't care what I do as long as I keep the health issues in check. She always has by back!
  13. Sorry to double post. I was just siting here.....Lancaster.....Why do I know that area.........I lived in Rottenchester for a few years....But, the Buffalo area....?????????????? Then it hit me like a ton of bricks dropped right on my head! I had a g/f from that area! Really $lit on my life. Anyway.......... Tomorrow I will sight with my broadheads and hopefully get in the woods for a hunt Thursday or Friday.
  14. Nope. I have been a Bills fan since I was 10. I am loyal, and even though I once called "Rich Stadium" ( remember those days? ), and got through to the security booth and demanded, "I want the Bills arrested for impersonating a football team!", I am still loyal. I got a visit from my local Fuzz for that one, and had to explain it was just a joke.....That's actually very true. I don't BS. I have no need to.
  15. @firehunter48: If they will lodge in 1/2 roofing treated plywood, took me 20 minutes to carefully tap it out with a mallet, and it still shoots like the rest, I doubt they will break. I am using the 40-70# 30"ers. I won't swear by them as I am just getting back into bow hunting, but I will say thay out shot my old XX75's. They were like $150 a dozen. Back in the early '90's. @stoneam2006: I haven't had an issue with the knocks or incerts yet. I have shot the same 6 arrows DF for two weeks. About 500 shots. I have no doubt about the arrow. Tomorrow I will re-test with my broadheads. Just to make sure they still hit with my fingers. By that I mean accurate. I have no qualms about taking a deer with these arrows. I agree, an arow doesn't need to cost $56.99 for one to be good.
  16. Careful....The "DOW" is still down, but the rest of us are still looking to "Down-A-Doe". So the price might be really high. Or really cheap. No stands? Hunt on the ground? No mention of blinds..Looks like a scam to me..But, that's just my VHO.
  17. The White Tail is also made by CX ( Carbon Express ).
  18. Capitol Region. Says so right under my avatar. I sure ain't givin my street addy to anyone on the web. LOL Why do you ask?
  19. So, are saying offering a deer a $50 won't make him just lay down for me? Damn..
  20. Um.....Did you mean "DOE" permits? Unlimited?
  21. Not gonna make this a winded out story.... Used to have a spot in Summit we hunted. Took a lot of deer off this land. The jerk ( my sisters boyfriend/hubbu/w;e ) that taught me to hunt had started doing some things I wanted no part of. So, I stopped hunting the whole Summit area for a couple years. Now, just so you know, whenever possible, I start my scouting in May. Decided to head out there. Got to the land, knowcked on the door, and a young woman answered, letting me know that her father had passed on, and they were not allowing anyone to hunt the land anymore due to someone setting a camp in the ld house that sat in the middle of the apple orchard. I thought."Hmmmmm". So, I decided to stop by another area. The owner said I could hunt the land if I would pop in once a onth and help out with some farming duty. So, I spent time one day every weekend a month helping stack hey, cleat the troths, and even shovel cow poop. Thanksgiving weekend I took a nice little 4, and once we got it in the trunk of the car, I took the heart, liver, and the backbone tenderloins to the mas door. He was happy as can be. Up untill about 7 years ago, even though I wasn't hunting at the time, I sent X-Mas cards to him. When I got a letter back saying he had passed, and they were selling the land and the farm, I stopped sending the cards. You have to treat the land owners with a high amounf of respect, and maybe go out a little to keep up good relations. Also, after reading this thread 2x, you never did answer if there really was a coyote issue.
  22. I know price don't matter. Most times. I asked because when I was doing the research, they got pretty high reviews. For being a Wally-World arrow. When I called CE they said they do infact make the arrows and try to uphold the warranty. I was just curious if anyone else used/tried them and what their thoughts were.
  23. It seems like most folks in here are shooting some high end gear, but, I have a question. Being on a tight budget for my bow gear this season, I decided to try the Carbox Express Wolverine Hunter in 5060, with 125's on the dangerous end. For a cheaper arrow, at $5.50 a peice, they seem to be doing pretty well for me. They fly straight, and even after putting one almost to the fletching through a 1/2 inch sheet of roofing grade plywood, it still flies true. I like them better then the old XX75's I used to use. Has anyone here ever used them? What did you think?
