  1. I can only laugh at this one. This actually just another reason to not allow it! If some d/a who doesn't take the time to site a shotgun or rifle just spits out rounds, not caring where they go, then allowing them to use a shot-shell with a few lead balls inside will never bother to sight in. "It's just like bird-shot, point and shoot! Yeee haw!"........................
  2. I really thought I might be alone on this idea. Paint 'em, add some no slip strips on the rungs just to be safe........Not a carry in/out every hunt thing, but, still a great idea.
  3. I was thinking that for the past month. Good grade aluminum ladder, lash it to the tree with good ratchet straps, and it should be far more stable then any of the stick ladders out there.
  4. Anyone who threatens a kid is a complete $$$$ stain! I won't say what I feel should be done to those people....But. it sure ain't pretty! Congrats to the kid! He most likely had a once in a lifetime hunt and kill.
  5. Good luck. May the spirit of the deer bring you a nice heavy buck!
  6. Um...Yeah.....LOL! That's TMI and I wasn't in the room.............
  7. WOW. I guess it could have been worse though, could have been someone against hunting and started on that landslide of chatter.
  8. Nice looking deer. Best of luck with getting to have a couple cold ones while the heart is a fryin.
  9. I already developed a pretty severe fear of heights over the past few years. I feel pretty safe in my current stand, when I am able to use it. But, I also use two added ratchet straps to really secure it to the tree. I also generally don't go above appx. 15 feet. Big issue will be hunting public land. SZ, I need to get back into contact with land I used to have permission to hunt. After the season, I plan to send a lot of homemade banana bread and jelly out for X-Mas, not just the usual card.
  10. Close it, lock it, delete it. Send it to a pancake house for use as fake "chocolate chips".
  11. May I ask what you mean by this? I was always a PSE fan, 20+ years ago when I hunted with a bow, I shot a few PSE's, but, they were out of my price range. My very first bow was a Darton. I don't know the model, bought it used from a shop. After about 10 arrows, the string broke. Took it back and the shop gave me back the money and then some seeing I was buying the Gale Force. The PSE I have now is almost as old. LOL. But, it feels right when I shoot, and it shoots fine with the set up I have. It just feels comfy. So, come June, I will most likely go with at least a newer PSE, or a Bowtech. Maybe a Hoyt. Depends on how many pennies I save up, and what I find in my price that's feels right to shoot.
  12. Going to put up the BC on private land up north early Nov.. Leave it up for a few weeks. Next year I will probably pic up either a climber, or a lightweight easier to set alone stand and some light climbing sticks for the public land I hunt. I am really not liking hunting from the ground with a bow. But, better to be on the ground for now and hunting then staring at the TV.
  13. I doubt the emotion will ever fade. Feeling like your heart will blow up and it sounding like a base drum in your ears is a big part of hunting. You will learn to control it a bit over time. Never hunted with a x-bow, show a few over the years. They are easier to shoot, and adreneline may not cause to many issues, no more then gun hunting. I would try hang in there with the vert bow. As others said, it will all come together.
  14. I have always worn an orange vest walking, and used to leave it on all the time gun hunting. Even in an archery only hunting area, I will keep the vest on moving. Even in the dark. One of the areas I am hunting this year is bow only for deer and bear, but they allow small game hunting with a shotgun. So have thought of leaving the vest on all the time hunting from the ground.
  15. Can an Admin, Mod, w/e, please delete this. I feel anything I add to this thread now will always be in question.
  16. I am curious. If I am not sitting, I always have an orange vest on in Public land.
  17. I didn't post this to be an a$$. I posted this because after my ethics were brought into question, I was beyond ticked off. So I wanted to know what the deal was in people posting from a phone, and the time was off. I can live with the basic thread time offset. But, again, I have to go back to that quote. That's off! way off! I didn't come here to cause trouble, but, I sure as he** am not gonna be treated like some POS.
  18. That still doesn't explain a time offset on a quote. If it's a "Quote", like I said, It's a direct copy of the original post. So this time off-set looks suspect. I am sorry, I really am not trying to be a jerk here, but this just isn't right.
  19. Looks like a "Monkey Paw" to me......Just sayin..........
  20. What about Brenneke's? High end, but, worth it. Also remember, just because it might be a Remmy, Remmy ammo may not shoot right. That was just an example. Many times you need to fit the ammo to the gun.
  21. Got mine from my local City Hall. Looked everything over before I left, everything was fine. It's not camo, it's yellow. Is the camo a special order? I was in Dicks, decided to grab my tags, but the DEC line was down. So I went to CH. I wasn't offered an option on color.
  22. I doubt buckshot will ever be legal in NY again. Too erratic. You can't get a good pattern on a stable basis.
