  1. Much warmer this AM, 35. Hoping the 25-06 gets to breathe fire
  2. I found @wolc123 honey hole while hiking a local lake.
  3. Packing it up for the morning. If the wife doesn't have plans might hit West Canada Lake for a still hunt later.
  4. We definitely hunt the Dacks very differently. I don't hunt any volleyball courts.
  5. I'm in and decided to try and sit the same spot I was in yesterday. I had a doe go full kamikaze and run right towards the front of my wife's truck driving back in here then she turned quick and ran past me. 25* and clear sky so far.
  6. I'm in and sitting. Using a glove to keep the breech dry.
  7. If I'm walking around on any public land the orange vest is on . Usually if I'm sitting as well. You hunt private land so you won't have anyone else around. I don't care if there was a law or not, orange is on when I hunt public land. Been sitting here for 40 minutes waiting for the rain to stop. Looks like I'm getting wet.
  8. Time to put a few boot miles on in the ADK's.
  9. I'm taking Tabasco up to the cabin, the same stuff I use as general hot sauce at home. If I'm making wings, it's a Franks base now for the flavor, usually the hot buffalo for others, for me, it's a base of the extra hot then I add chili pepper flakes and a couple other hot sauces ranging from Dave's to ghost/scorpion pepper. Been backing off lately on my heat, stomach doesn't like too much anymore.
  10. SZ- 11/5-11/20. NZ-Most likely a wee bit of chasing already going on. Perhaps the guys who've been up there can say what they are seeing.
  11. What state forest is it? Just about the only places you cannot camp on state land are WMA's, unless the land clearly states no camping. Was the tent set up on a dedicated primitive camping site? A link to the land from the DEC site would help, as then we could all see the icons for what's allowed on that land and what isn't.
  12. Are you planing on getting camo clothing to match the chair? I tried one of those chairs with the arms about 8 years ago and hated it because the arms got in the way of trying to rotate into a position to get a shot. If I had been able to move into position right, I wouldn't have eaten tag soup that year. That was with a rifle, I didn't like them for archery when I was trying to practice sitting in it.
  13. I would put some low-cost padding and carpet on the floor for a little insulation. If you're not fussy about the color, you might get that stuff below or close to $100. For heat, maybe a kerosene heater? Portable electric heater? EDIT. Read it wrong. Any way to insulate the under side of the floors?
  14. I don't think those little blue pills are designed for hunting. If you haven't checked in after 4 hours, should we call 911? Good luck to everyone out there this morning. Have to pack the hunting clothes, ML stuff, drop some stuff off at the inlaws, dig out the pups orange vest, and a bunch of other things to get done today.
  15. Man, that's a lot of hold over with a bow.
  16. Getting ready to pack it up. Good sit, would have been better to fill a tag. Next hunt up north with the muzzle loader.
  17. I just played a 30 minute chess game with a couple does. I normally wouldn't even think about taking a doe with a fawn, but my need to make meet was ready to drop the bigger doe.
  18. Guts telling me to hunt a feild edge, but more sign by the hub blind. Hit a skunk driving over so there's that lovely smell.
  19. American Shooter Supply hasn't had any black powder stuff in the year I've been into it, nor has his shop over the river from me Guns Inc. . Outdoorsman had some pellets the last time I was in there, which was last August, but if memory serves me right they were the White Hots. I know the Hogdon are on point for me, so I want to stick with it for now. I still have some, I just shot a little more while checking the scope back in August. It's fun to shoot, and I put about 15 rounds down range instead of just a few to check. Even if F&S only has the 24 pack, I'll pick one up just to have a little bit more of a supply on hand.
  20. If it counts any, I'm far more stoked to be hitting the woods this coming Wednesday-Friday with the ML. Then Saturday+Sunday with the 25-06. Then the following weekend with one of the deer rifles.
  21. I'll be up by F&S tomorrow afternoon. Guess I'll stop in there. Guy I talked to on the phone last week said all they had bullets.
