  1. Yeah, they are not great but I'll eat them. Kind of like tofu, no taste really. Just texture.
  2. Found a giant puffball yesterday. Unfortunately it was bad when I cut into it. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  3. Yeah although I think they have an even newer model. Not sure. I like this one. Photos aren't as soon as iPhone but I have a nice camera and don't need frame quality pics from my phone anyway.
  4. I cook them in butter and some veggies and eggs with very good results Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  5. Looks like crown tipped coral which are very tasty but I've read that there are toxic look-a-likes. Do some research before eating. You must look closely at the tips. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  6. I didn't, going to eat the black trumpets tomorrow. Been trying to find these things for years and have never seen them. Need to look up a good recipe and make something with it. I'll probably eat the small chanterelles tomorrow 2 and freeze the coral Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  7. You're a wealth of knowledge Predate, thank you.
  8. Had a nice morning out. Never found black trumpets before but I believe these are them. Not sure what the orange ones are but they resemble small chanterelles. Have to do some research. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  9. Depends on open cell vs closed cell and how many inches (R-value) you're going for.
  10. Cold kolsch style homebrew after a hot and sticky day at work. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  11. Scored some more brewing equipment off Craigslist last night. All for $60. Upgraded my 5 gallon kettle to a 10 gal. Excited. Brewing some Oktoberfest marzen this weekend and bottling a Sierra Nevada pale ale this weekend as well. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  12. It's a chicken mushroom. They are delicious. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  13. Found this guy in the middle of a lawn. Kind of looks like the black staining polypore again, but a little different. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  14. I was at the brewery a couple of weeks ago. They're amber ale was very good, and I normally don't go for ambers. Went to Catskill Brewery on the same day. Liked their pilsner and the darbees pale ale. They are two gems! Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  15. I don't think I've seen these for sale. I know the local pub wants $10 for a pint of it though. I hear it's pretty delicious, I'll have to track some down. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  16. Enjoyed a nice homebrew Black IPA the other afternoon, I love this style and this is my favorite homebrew which I will make again soon. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  17. I know a young guy who lives in Hungary and works here during the summer. He brought me an IPA from his country. Central European ipas are getting better, tried some a few years back and it was all bitter, no taste. This one was bitter with some fruitiness. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  18. Brewed a kolsch style in May and bottled it a couple of weeks ago. Not bad but don't love it. This is my first time making it. For some reason it's a little fruitier than should be. Oh well, still decent and I will enjoy it, especially when it's hot. When I was finished bottling, I made the mistake of holding the cardboard six pack by the handle and trying to put it on the shelf. The bottom broke and the bottles hit my carboy and shattered it. $45 mistake, oops. out Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  19. Also, reporting back on the dryads saddle. Dried them a few months ago and rehydrated them and cooked them with some onion and eggs and butter last week. Not a ton of taste but nice texture. Glad I picked them. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks for the info. None of these stained blue (except for the two colored boletes) which I believe happens when you bruise or cut a hurenesis. The caps we're not yellow either. I cut them all in half and waited an hour and they were as white as when I cut them so I believe I am ok. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  21. They do look like summer oysters but they weren't growing in wood so I don't believe it can be that. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  22. Really like the coral mushrooms. Not sure what the white asparagus looking things are. I see them all the time. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  23. This was another one that got me excited as I thought it was chicken at First Sight, and then when I looked I thought it was Hen of the Woods but it's too early for that I think. Pretty sure it is a black staining polypore which I hear is edible but not tasty and super tough. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  24. These got me excited for a minute, thought they were chantrelles, but I think they are possibly false chanterelles? Anyone seen this type before? Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  25. Great little stroll through the woods tonight. First time really getting into boletes. I found some with a friend the other day and he cooked them up and fed them to me, they were really delicious so I found some of my own. I ate the chickens for dinner tonight, been awhile since I had them fresh. Good looking for chanterelles, found one or two old ones, but didn't spot any others even in the area I found a bunch of them last year. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
