Finally made it up to the finger lakes this past week. Spend a few days in Watkins Glen and made it over to Canandaigua. What a beautiful area! Would like to explore more of the area next time.

My spring wasn't great, but not terrible. Found about 2 lbs or morels. Weird year. Found them in weird spots I don't normally and didn't find them in my usual spots. Dried a bunch of dryads saddle, about 10lbs fresh. Rehydrated and cooked with eggs last week, pleasantly surprised. Good texture. Waiting for the two colored boletes now, they should be up shortly. Anyone else pick these? I've seen a ton of them but never ate. I buddy of mine loves them and convinced me to give them a try this year.

I dried about 5 lbs of dryads the other day. Never used them dried. Looking forward. Anyone still finding morels?

Yes that is a morel past it's prime. I found about 8 morels a few days ago. All the spots that have been good in years past are empty now. Not sure why.

I use them in eggs, vegetable stir fry, cook with mushrooms, potato leek soup. There are infinite ways to use them. -
Got bit by 3 ticks on Thursday. Found them after about 30 minutes of getting out of the woods so I think I'm ok. Just sprayed the hell out of my clothes with permethrin last night.

My first home-brew is ready. Brewed a kit from Northern Brewer, the Chinook IPA. Will drink a few with my buddy tonight. Hope they're good. This weekend I have to bottle another batch (NB Kama Citra) and transfer NB Ace of Spades black IPA into secondary fermenter. Really enjoying learning now to brew. There is a ton to learn.

Good find Predate, never tried the half free. My buddy found some morels and gave me a few. Haven't found any at any of my normal spots. Not sure why. I'll be out more this weekend.

Has anyone successfully dug up ramps and planted on their property? I have a friend of a friend who wants to plant some ramps down in the city. Asked if I could mail him some. Any tips?

Morels should be up in some areas! Saw it on some morel maps I've seen for NY. The temp seems right. I'll check my spots in a few days when I have time.

Once the dryad's saddle gets dark and starts to curl on the edges, I avoid them. Will be tough.

Looks to be! They're prettyy decent mushrooms when you get them young.

I went the other day to peak at the ramps, I'll pick some next week. Nothing in my morel spots yet, usually I start finding them the second week of May.

Me and about 5 of my friends bought the Trophy 126 kayaks about 9 years ago. Still love mine. Fun to take it fishing on the lake and even take it down the river. -

Ramps are starting to peak out. We should be a month out for morels, at least in my area.

l have two spots where I get them year after year, each about a half acre big. Both are right next to swamps in sandy type soil.

Also, started homebrewing for the first time last weekend. It's going good so far. Chinook IPA from Northern Brewers. It's not sitting in my closet. Can't wait to taste in 5 weeks. Starting another brew next weekend. Kama Citra IPA from NB.
