Got any field edge night pics Wooly? Those pics have sufficient backdrop to hide Spypoint's weak nighttime illumination. The Evo is akin to a bottom edge sports car. Sounds and looks great on paper - but in reality is red flash with limited night distance, and 640x480 images. For $75 more, you can get a camera that'll send 1280x960 size images with ability to download HD/full res images and blackflash with much better night image quality. Some of the positives about the camera are the free data plan for 100 pics a month; however, it's a bit of a ploy. the monthly cost to operate is $15 if you want unlimited images - which is 33-50% more per month than competitors. And those $15 per month still only get you 640x480 image size. I do like the overall case design. I do like the ease of setup.Trigger and recovery are fast. That however, doesn't make the cam a buy right now. They need to fix the night images and generate at least 1280 image size. I am hesitant to think they will upgrade to 1280 because that size uses more data and the "free" package would bear 5x more cost for Spypoint.

For Pete's sake Grow...how long is it going to take you to realize that the panel pops off. YOU CAN REMOVE IT............................................................I thought by now you would have figured that one out. See the little notch in the bottom middle of the array cover...pop it off. PS. That pic is wayyyyyy too dark. Should have been a transition IR image. -
I use cams to help kill bucks. I think the last year I killed a buck I didn't have on cam and know of was in 2011. Every buck me Moog and our buddy killed was on cam last year as well. We will do the same again this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Doc - you can't see the forest for the trees. Your curiosity aside, this thread is filled with people making accusations about imparting the standards for why they hunt into others standards and belief systems. But, you assume I didn't read your post and also assumed that I was speaking only to you. There are 120 posts and half are about telling others what they should believe in. This thread is no different than AR or xbow vs vertical. Stop worrying about others. No value in threads like this. People who believe in luck and people who believe they drive their success, whatever that is defined as. In a society that is plagued with the "everyone gets a trophy mentality," I suppose I shouldn't be shocked by the people who want to downplay any value in actually getting one and the actions thereinto that result. Hunting is one of the sacred cows where not everyone gets a trophy. That's why. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Had a few Canbrakes while in New Orleans. Abita Amber and a blonde ale but the brewer escapes me. A touch sore today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Trail cams nowadays are like a Chevy vs Ford vs. Dodge/Ram debate. Some people are fans or have positive experiences of one brand and opposite for another. I try not to look at companies, but rather models and production runs within those models if possible. A good company can have a bad model year, bad model run, etc. just as likely as they can have a good model year and run. The 2016 Browning Strike Force HDE and Dark Ops HDE have been winners for the large majority of customers. The 17s have increased sensing and some marketed increased night illumination - I suspect that the light output wasn't changed, but the nighttime parameters were to increase distance (but also some grain). Deals on the 16s are pretty good $-wise, and unless you need a cam for a field edge, the 16s probably do fine. As the 17s come down in price a bit, they might be worth a buy. I do like the 17 Spec Ops for videos. I did have a 15 Strike Force HD just go down, losing the illuminators, but that cam has been outside since March/April of 2015. It still takes day pics...truth be told my buddy dropped it out of the truck before it was set this last time and that may have done it. I think there are some improved cell and wireless mesh cam models coming out in the next 12 mos. which will be interesting. The tough part is people expect a lot out of blackflash cams and the science is just such that night images are never going to be as clear as a quality red IR camera. I still prefer blackflash when possible and understand the tradeoffs. I think the market is getting to a point of fewer tech advances - would hope to see quality go up, but usually the only way that happens is a change in consumer demand. People complain about trail cam quality, yet people still buy them in growing numbers each year.

What's sad is that you turned this "nasty" by not letting a comment be what it is - saying congrats on a good experience, you might get a better cam, and at least you take the bad with the good and vice versa. But you couldn't let it be. -

Well, that is a good experience. Part of the problem is the camera...it was a poor seller for a lot of reasons, one of which you noted. You may end up with a better cam in response! I hope you took some time out of that call to let them know about that shoddy IR array covering they use. 4-5 mos. ago you were bashing them. At least you call it like you see it. -
New in Box 2017 Spartan Gocam ATT FS
phade replied to phade's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
AT&T is about a buck more per month to run but the actual cost of the cams run about $50-60 less than the Verizon versions. You don't need to have a Verizon phone and Verizon cam. What really matters is that you have ATT service at the site the cam will be used. ATT has pretty strong presence in NY. The cams are black flash. I've only ever had two people buy red IR models from me. They're not as popular for cell cams. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

If it were Verizon it'd be more $$$. You don't have ATT service there? Doesn't matter what phone service you have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Moog hasn't seen this yet, but I found a random SD card in my camo work pants this morning. This was a crazy morning...

All four for the $100. Don't know about an audible click. I would expect if it does, it's be only when the filter drops transitioning from day to IR shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
