  1. Buddy of mine just got the wraith, as with most cheaper night vision you have to upgrade to ir it comes with. Im in the process of doing that now with my atn 4k pro i won. Also his only complaint so far other than stock ir is battery life, not sure what the options are there for ya. What are ya doin for the lower of that 243? Trigger and such...
  2. I have right now probably 10 spots to hunt in erie county, thats why i chose it. Plus who doesnt need another gun.
  3. I shot one last year with my 308 using 150gr hornady interlok i believe. One tiny entrance and one tiny exit. It never hit bone, if it did im sure the exit would have been quite large.
  4. Yes it is. And my numbers may be off. I didnt look at hornady superformance. The main reason i wanted it, is for prior to deer season ending a bunch of the propertys i hunt, you cant use a centerfire riffle .22 cal or larger. So the 204 will be great for season long hunting.
  5. I have wicked red lights im trying to find a ir led for...everyone is out stock.
  6. I agree, i bought my dies at cabelas and some 39gr Sierra bk. Brass has to be ordered. The 8208xbr powder i have for my grendel from what i read is a good powder for the 204 also.
  7. Build a ar in 204, with a mid weight 22" barrel. Your looking at 1" high at 100 yards, like 6-7" low at 300 depending on the velocity of your ammo. So if you think a yote is close to 300 put the cross hairs on its back. Anything else hold center chest.
  8. Just uploaded the new firmware. Also picked up my Christmas presant from my wife. A savage in 204 ruger. It will be the home for the nv. Just need to get a IR bulb for my wicked lights gun light to use with this scope. I will shoot the rifle Wednesday if the weather is good.
  9. At the weigh in for the wny predator slam. Whether you kill something or not it is worth it to go for the raffles and door prizes.
  10. Total was i believe 37 coyotes and somewere around 130 fox i believe. Heaviest yote was 48lbs and change. One team brought in 29 fox. Crazy.
  11. Well...i was wrong. A fox shouldve died. 1st set of the night was behind my house. Called in a red to my buddy at 50 yards, and for the second time this year a friend has forgot to chamber a round... 1 loud "CLICK" and off the fox goes. Next set nothin, 3rd set nothin, weather got crappy whiteout conditions. 4th set walking in bumped 2 yotes out of the field never to be seen again. 5th set nothin and called it because 1 buddy was sick and me and my other friend were pretty shot by 330am. But the weigh in makes everything all better. Talked to some great guys, learned some things and won a new night vision scope! Hell yea!
  12. We got skunked, buddy pull the trigger on a fox behind my house at 50 yards...unfortunately he never chambered a round... bumped 2 yotes out of a field walking in, couldnt convince them to come back. Night got cut short by my buddies getting sick. But the weigh in is always worth the drive. Won a new scope for my new 204 ruger! Now i get to join the night vision crowd!
  13. Well friday night was a major bust...went down to ashville area in chatataqua county. Buddy kept tellin me about the great spots to hunt yotes and fox... We have very differant ideas what a great spot looks like. Small open areas dont give ya a chance to really play the wind. Then the weather on top of it, thick fog followed by steady mist mixed with more fog, then heavy rain followed by fog...if you have never hunted with light in heavy mist or fog ill just ssy its almost pointless. Visibility was for the most part 50 yards max. During some breaks a little better. My buddy also needs to learn to control himself better. When he thought he saw eyes, he very loudly whispered over and over again "eyes"!!! Do u see the eyes!!... turns out after i got onto were he was looking it was rain water reflecting his light... went to bed at 4am...Tonight! Tonight is the night. We have probably 12-14 spots to hit, weather is better, its a area im familiar with. Tonight varmints will die!
  14. Yep, tonights gotta be the night because yesterday was a train wreck of a night. Fog, mist, rain, more fog. Nothin.
  15. Ive picked up eyes at 400+ yards with my wicked lights. Thats pretty much the deepest field ive hunted.
  16. I prefer the head lamp, keeps my hands free to get to the gun quicker or use the calls remote. My wickeds are just red, headlamp to scan, if i pickup eyes switch to the gun light. I carry a small white light flashlight in my pocket if we have to track a yote or fox.
  17. Entry level caller id say $150, i tried cheap ebay red lights before spending $240 on wicked lights. Last year i gave my kills that were not blown up to a buddy that traps. Ill do the same this year unless i get a unique yote or fox. I skinned and stretched my first yote this year. Turned out ok, it was a learning experience.
  18. Congratulations...side note i shoot left handed if he doesnt
  19. The female yote i killed in November was "leaking" after her death...so i did what any smart hunter would do...wiped it up with my callers decoy, little attraction there i hope. Its been in a bag in my garage fridge since. Also picked up some trapper scent today from cabelas to help cover our stink.
  20. Its like Christmas eve for me. WNY predator slam starts tomorrow. Cleaning camo, packing gear. Headed down to chataqua county tomorrow. Back up to hunt erie, genesee, and wyoming county saturday. Weigh in sunday.
  21. It drops it to a 3.5lb trigger. Nothing crazy, i have had him shoot my grendel with a 1.5lb trigger. Teaching him proper safety with a gun goes a long ways. Id trust him with a gun more then a bunch of people ive shot/hunted with. I do understand were your coming from and appreciate the advice.
  22. Was looking at the trigger kit last night. Definitely getting it soon.
  23. My son got a savage 7-08 for christmas from Grandma & Grandpa. It was the one cabelas had cheap on black friday. After rebates and club points my dad got it for $187. Gave us a handful of different rounds to test out. I got it close then let him shoot. Its getting a new scope so i wasnt worried about being perfect. He made up a target to shoot. His 1st 3 were 140gr rem cor loks, next 3 were 120gr nosler bt. Handle it goid, he was happy he got the lungs everytime. The 120s he shot were right around 2" at 100 yards. Not too shabby. I also got a savage for Christmas from my wife. Model 11 trophy hunter xp in .204. Waiting for it to come in. The local gun shop had to have one shipped in. Its goin to be my new yote gun.
