Well right now only weekends I have plans are feb 15 celebrating wife’s b-day and March 3rd is my knee surgery so the weekend after is probably not good. After my knee is done I’ll be off for 6 weeks,  so.....

i was thinking in end of Feb or mid March ?
would like to keep this fresh at the top and see if we can get a few more members.

Weekend of Feb 22-23 looks good.

  2. You guys mind if I jump in with a different question? Is there a way to "brush cut" three feet off the ground? I've seen sickle mowers cutting along the highway that would seem to be able to do that, but haven't found anything. My fields have become way too overgrown; I can't see anything. I'm thinking I will have to just brush cut and replant (or maybe brushcut with the three or hitch raised and let it regrow).

Has anybody ever successfully field dressed  a deer with those disposable gloves using the latex over the long plastic ones and not still got blood all over their hands ? They definitely help though and a quick wipe on the pants and good to go

I saved the orange bags that the newspaper came in during wet weather. I slip it over my arm and poke my gloved fingers through.  That helps keep mess down, and it's cheap. I found latex gloves that cover wrist. Those help, too.

The Inuits get their veggies in wintertime by eating the stomach contents of the animals they kill... I have seen them do it...In fact, I have a video ( taken by my hunting partner) of my Inuit guide taking a slice of raw liver, dipping it into the stomach contents of a caribou I shot, and eating it...He went back for seconds and then licked his fingers...

Of course, they also get canned veggies that are delivered on the barge that comes into Gjoa Haven one time per summer...

I almost said they BUY them, but  as natives they don't buy much...The government ( meaning people who actually work for a living)  provides them with everything they need...

I recently read a book about an arctic expedition in 1820 where their Indian guide (Chippewa, IIRC) ate dead moose fetus raw. Different strokes . . . .

  5. I bought some treestands on clearance a few weeks ago in the Henrietta store. I would think that by now they would have blown out all the F&S branded items. I will be curious to see what it looks like when it's really turned into a Sportman's Warehouse store.

@Chef, any progress turning your wine fridge into a sausage curing chamber? I was reading about how to make one with an old fridge (http://blog.sausagemaker.com/2015/11/how-to-make-dry-curing-chamber.html) and was looking at these controllers on Ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Inkbird-Temperature-Humidity-Controller-Combination-Gauge-ITC-308-IHC-200-110v/163641235634?hash=item2619c718b2:g:ivMAAOSw32lcruoW)

@hueyjazz , would you have any thoughts regarding making your own dried sausage curing box? Note, I am not yet clear on exactly what the temperature and humidity ranges need to be. I think it varies by type or size of sausage being cured.

  7. After Brady threw the pick 6, my wife was yelling "Yes! Yes!" at the top of her lungs. It was the loudest I heard her yell like that since . . . well never, actually.

Her love for the Bills is outmatched only by her hatred of the Patriots.
