A size up. Pull the insert out put them on then put the boots on. Plenty of room in them, when you try to get your feet in with the insert in the boot it balls up at the toe and makes them feel tight.

Thank you. I will try that.

Our food saver is biting the dust.   We use ours a fair amount.  Cabelas had a commercial version for 299 that looked decent.   Any recommendations on a sealer that will suck a golf ball through a garden hose?  Enter @Pygmy.

I have that one, and I like it. It's lasted longer than any of the Foodsaver branded ones I've ever bought over the years. It is rather large and clunky, but it is heavy duty, for that style of food saver. When/if mine dies, I will upgrade to a small chamber style vacuum sealer.

Another option I'd consider is https://www.sausagemaker.com/Commercial-Vacuum-Sealer-p/25-1021.htm As far as I can tell, it is comparable to the Cabela's performance-wise, but $70 cheaper. Plus they run 15% off sales from time to time if you are not in a hurry. In general, Sausagemaker equipment is of good quality.

  3. I was going to go back out this morning, but am not feeling well. I was tired and achy yesterday evening, and woke up with a sore throat this morning. So I killed the 4:30 a.m. alarm and slept till 8:00. Upon waking, my wife looks over at me this morning and says "You know, those deer aren't going to shoot themselves." I then proceeded to get zero marital sympathy for not feeling well. Well, I still have a few days left . . . .

I’m going to be selling a lot of stuff I just don’t use anymore on various sites . For sale Cabela’s MTO50 very warm jacket and bibs in real tree. Size 2xl only a small hole in bibs has been like that for over a year no signs or expanding. Scent lock inside . Lost some weight awhile back and these are just way to big on me .  Asking $300 for the combo . A great deal and gift for under the tree .

Could you post a pic of the hole in the bibs? So Scent-lok is built into the fabric? So you have to keep the clothes in an airtight container, run them through the dryer to reactivate, etc?

Do any of you guys in the WNY area have or know someone that has an enclosed car trailer that would be willing to transport my Hellcat? Im moving in a couple of weeks and have to get the car from its current spot in my garage, to a space I got ahold of in Greece. Im not looking for free, Ill pay of course. I am not driving the car there with salt on the roads.

You may want to check out www.uship.com if no one here can help you.

  6. Mind if I hijack, err, I mean expand upon the OP? I have some trail spots that are bare and would like to put down a "grass" seed that will be relatively thick and durable to handle occasional UTV or tractor traffic. These are also relatively wet areas Any suggestions? Grass seed is not cheap and relatively delicate to me. Something like rye maybe?

  7. This is a hypothetical question. If you wanted to scout public land in the southern zone that was new to you, and you only had one month to do your scouting, what month/30 day period would you choose? I hope this isn't too silly of a question. Thanks for your thoughts.

Did you find that logo on the website, or did you make it yourself? It looks good. Could you send me the graphic in a file?

Just more confused now lol. I’ll put it back to 50 as that’s how I sighted it in as. Seemed to be just fine. From my understanding now if I don’t keep it at 50 my impact would be different ? Looks like a summer project to really figure it out.
    Thanks chrisw.

Why not just put it at the distance you are most likely to have a shot? Even though you sighted in at 50, you know that if you take a 100 yard shot, you will have x inches of drop, and/or you know what the different hashmark distances are. So don't necessarily tie yourself to 50 on the parrallax.

C'mon.....been way too long, and you guys have been more than patient.

I'd really, really like to have one too for a get together. But I'm afraid to order one now. But I will if you guys get yours?

Zem, if burmjohn were to OK it. Could you take the logo from the forum and reproduce it on a shirt?

I don't mind supporting huntingny. And gladly will if possible. But if the product isn't there or can't be sent, I'd still simply want to have a tee and a sweat with this forums logo on it.

    burmjohn????

    you mean, like this?

You got me mixed up with another guy TG.  I can not remember his name right now, but I think he was from Wyoming county.   The only thing I said about older deer is that they need to be aged longer prior to processing and freezing, for the rigor mortis to work out.   A nice feature of the button bucks is that they can  be cut up the day after they are killed.   I have ate very few older than 3.5, but I have never noticed any difference in taste or texture of 1.5 thru 3.5 year bucks, provided they were properly aged prior to processing.     I know you have taken many older bucks and noted that none had scouts.  Maybe it is just something that happens at my place.   It happened twice in the last three years anyhow, and from the same blind.

I think what's going on is that those guys aren't patient enough to wait for the big deer to come out -- they are shooting the scouts and not even realizing it!

Just got a call from my father in law.. real nice guy.. right off the boat Italian.. would do anything to help you, if he likes you.. but not the kind of hunter I want to be.. says he was out yesterday and saw 4 or 5 deer and started shooting at them.. unloaded and reloaded a few times. 15 shots is my estimate.. he recovered 2 of them. Hit each of them twice in hind quarters, then a few other random hits on each.. neck, side, head, etc.. I saw a pic and these deer were like swiss cheese.. then, after he recovers them, he gave both away because he doesn't know how to cook it properly and doesn't care for the meat..

Might not want to get him mad at you.
