  1. I really enjoy The Conservationist. I bring it in to the office to share. The ad for the above mag, though, was selling me on the feeling that every page was an amazing secret revealed. It also had the feel that it was a national publication tweaked slightly to be NY specific. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  2. Roger that... tossed in recycling. Thank you. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  3. Received a subscriptions solicitation from NY Game & Fish Magazine in the mail. Material touts it as uncovering all the best spots in NY - seems like that approach might get redundant. Anyone subscribe, and, if so, what are your thoughts on the content and writing? Many thanks, in advance. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  4. Pretty sure Santa doesn't trigger trail cams. Too stealthy. Plus, doesn't Santa have a trail cam detector, and putting one out runs the risk of his passing by? I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  5. Floating in the cloud from Stillwater... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  6. Getting ready to play a gig in North Creek, NY. Their can curation is well researched. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  7. No deer down, but a great afternoon in the woods. I watched the woods change from a warm orange to a cool blue as the sun dipped behind the ridge to the west. A couple of minutes after that, I saw some chasing about 200 yards away, and then watched them slowly make their way towards the opening I was sitting near. It was past legal light, and I started descending with the climber, when they turned towards me. Season over, my mission was to get down undetected. And that's when I noticed him, the 8 point I've been hunting. 40 yards, light fading and I'm halfway down the tree. I watched him take his time entering the opening, checking all around for minutes before following the four does. He's young, probably 2.5, with a nice typical rack. I am so happy to see him in person, and to see that he made it through the season. Now I hope he makes it through the winter. What a great season for me and so many others. Loved reading this thread while in the woods, and especially while at work. Thanks all... Have a great holiday season. Merry, happy, joyous... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  8. I forgot this guy, the DIY Sportsman. Thorough in his explanations, and educational throughout: https://m.youtube.com/user/grprahl I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  9. In addition to the above mentioned, I'm a fan of Behind the Bow. They don't release much, but what they do publish is top-notch. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  10. That's what I'm after... Many thanks. I think the idea came a little too late, but will take a peak at the pastrami recipe tomorrow and make a decision for the holidays. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  11. Local brewery tonight. Filled a pair of growlers yesterday. Tonight's choice is Rare Form's Cascadia, a double IPA registering somewhere just north of 8%. Drinking out of a steel cup, so pics are kinda pointless. Unfiltered, and heavy like a nitro. They're using cascade hops, I imagine, but there's something nice and unidentifiable up front. It's a good beer, and a little heavy-handed for a Sunday. Must be the holidays... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  12. Tenderloin, tenderloin. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  13. What's the name of the recipe? I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  14. Thought about messaging you directly right after I hit "post." Preliminary research is saying that I should use a bigger piece of meat, and take longer... What do you mean by "safe place"? Controlled temps / humidity? If so, probably not. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  15. Anyone out there ever cure venison tenderloin? I just had the idea to serve it up as a Christmas Eve appetizer (maybe New Year's if more time is required). Anyone with experience, or suggestions out there? I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  16. No deer in 4L. I chose the wrong spot. As I was walking back to the house, I came up on 8 does in my neighbor's yard. Tuesday is my last of the last... I've read about some good hunts over the past few days, and that is also satisfying. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  17. Filled the stomach, and now to pile on the gear. Taking the climber over to my neighbors to sit on a trail leading to a funnel. Hoping to catch the does on their way to food. Congrats on the piebald, Cynthia! I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  18. Hope to be in a tree by 2. Lots to do before then... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  19. This is all we plug in. We carry the rest of the fest with us. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  20. Congrats on the harvest! I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  21. Positive vibrations, TF. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  22. It was a brutal beauty with the wind. But I did catch an ice crystal reflecting the sun off a hemlock. It was an ornament. Also - wish I had another pic to share, TF. I got a couple more hunts left... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  23. After I got down, and the light faded, I watched a single deer walk through that opening... man. They're up and moving here in 4L. I also missed another group digging for acorns, judging by the sign. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
