  1. What I disagree with is, that the Constitution is a "Living, Growing Document". Bravo Sierra. It is what it is and that's what made our country so great, not what the rest of the world does. If that's the case, why did the Founding Fathers put in the Supreme Court, as a source to make the final decision on matters.
  2. I'm totally against globalism. Run the country by the US Constitution, not what France, Germany, etc. do. This nonsense about allowing Shariah Law in our courts is a back door way of getting us to accept it.
  3. Now, Now. Can't we all get along. Let's give it a rest. LOL. What kind of example are we giving to the kid about adults.
  4. Just my 2 cents as a retired cop. The Border Patrol is throwing officers under the bus to calm liberals. I feel bad for those guys, as they can't do the job they were sworn to do. That's the reason they're having problems with recruitment and so many jobs are available. Anyone who can is leaving. Do your job and go to jail. I don't think so. Illegals have more rights than the BP officers.
  5. Fasteddie, there' something to be said about proof reading. In your post to the kid, you put"Lookes", when it's looks. Maybe we should all take a step back and give him some slack.
  6. There used to be a NYS college that taught gunsmithing. Problem with that is liability. Better be good, so some kluz doesn't shoot himself and blame your work. Any work done to a firearm, voids the warranty and whoever did the work excepts liability. As far as state jobs, the Wall Street Journal today has a article that Gov. Coumo is planning to cut 10,00 state jobs to balance the budget. Good luck and never give up.
  7. Just my 2 cents. Men are by nature competitive and I believe that has a lot to do with it. Sorry, but if I see a decent buck, I see a lot of meat for jerky, etc. Everyone does things for their own reason, so I can't fault anybody out there hunting for their own reasons-big racks, meat, etc. We're all keeping the herd healthy by our actions..
  8. OK, now you owe us. When you find your piece of heaven, which we know you will, you've got to send us pictures of it.
  9. On a cal .22, I'm sure it wouldn't matter going to a non professional, but with a larger caliber weapon, I'd definitely go to someone who knew about firearms engraving on a receiver or barrel. Just my 2 cents. Hopefully they'll get a lifetime of enjoyment from your present.
  10. I'd call a large, reputable gun dealer in your area. It'd seem that would be a good start.
  11. FYI. Only thing about county/state land is that people can't read your No Trespassing signs. Buddy got 65 acres that is surrounded by both mentioned and he constantly has trespassers that he has to chase off. Good luck and make sure you do your homework. I was looking at property in oil land. Place had over 10 uncapped wells. Glad I called the state as they weren't aware of them and the cost to cap was very prohibitive.
  12. Contact the county offices of the counties you're interested in. This time of year is when they usually post the lands for sale, after the taxes are due and not paid. Also, check the county tax maps to see who owns large tracts of land. Contact them, as farmers are always in need of cash for machinery, livestock, etc. Maybe you can work out some kind of deal. Also, as previously mentioned, the timber companies are a great source. They'll usually mail you the available land, with maps, etc., so you can check them out. Only thing is, they usually keep the timber rights for 20 yrs. after the sale. But on the upside, it is in good shape for wildlife when you get it. Good luck.
  13. The best part about the pic, is that back than, there were far fewer deer, which makes this more of a exceptional trophy. Thanks for sharing.
  14. My son, in HS took the same road. I was the Cop in the school, and the teachers named him a Super Patriot. They had no knowledge of the real world, and I got into it with numerous teachers, as to why they are trying to force their views on my son, not just teaching him. Several times, one particular teacher asked his opinion on hunting, gun issues, etc, and he apologized for saying what were the facts. I gave him a Atta Boy for standing up for his rights. Best part was, the fellow students told him he won the argument with the teacher, every time. Don't ever apologize for who you are, or what you believe in. Just back it up with facts.
  15. Go to the NRA. I'm sure they'll have a lot of good info on this topic, that'll help you.
  16. If you can get a hold of this book, check it out. "More Guns, Less Crime". It's written by a professor from Harvard, who is not for or against guns. He proved that the more guns are around, the less crime there is. Seems simple to me. When Bernard Getz shot the robber in NYC, the muggings dropped by 50%.
  17. I have to give the kid credit. He's not doing it for a good grade, but taking on a hot issue. Seems like some people take the easy road and that's why our country is in the state it is. Good luck, and let us know how you made out.
  18. Check out sausagemaker. com. They have all kinds of things for the amateur to professional use. Everything I've bought has been top notch. His book is the go to place for anything sausage or smoking. They're located in Buffalo, NY.
  19. I buy a license that says"Buck Tag", not "government tells me what kind of buck I can shoot".
  20. I've been getting plants from the County Cornell cooperative Extension Service. Plant them and they supply wildlife with food all year long, as browse, berries, fruit, etc. Cheap, but labor intensive. A lot of state programs have the stipulation that the property is open to the public.
  21. My son's friend was out squirrel hunting. Some deer came by and knew something was wrong. He let out with a squirrel call, and they settled right down, probably because it was a natural sound.
  22. 2 years ago, I gave my old Jennings compound, one of the first compounds ever made to my sons friend. So far, my son shot a buck the first time he ever shot at any deer with it, and the other guys got 2 deer with it the first 2 years he had it. All they did was upgrade, arrows, mechanical release, etc. How dead is dead. Technology and goodies can't overcome practice. Just my 2 cents.
  23. 1.5 X 4.5 Bausch& Lomb, set up in Mossberg 500 w/rifled slug barrel.
  24. Unique rack like that would provide a good camp story for years.
