This post interests me, I hunt the Catskills and see deer almost every sit. I have taken a doe every year during bow season without much effort. I have a creek that runs through my land I set up at well used creek crossings when I want a doe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The windows are loops! Great advice yes all windows except for shooting windows will stay closed. I like the idea of only leaving a few shooting cracks open Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed. I feel I put my self in a pretty good spot to prevent that. With a steep slope at my back most deer even if coming from that direction circle the plot too far uphill to catch my scent. Let’s hope for the best!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is a weird year for me, last season was my best season ever. I actually felt that between me and my cousin we took too many deer off of our small 25 acre parcel. That being said I may shoot one doe if it comes down to the end of bow season and I’m deerless( no doe tags this year). We have the most bucks I’ve ever seen on camera this year. All but one of them are super young. Spikes, 4’s, small 6’s and then my one big boy. I guess in a way I’m kind of taking a slow down approach this season. I will exclusively hunt the one big deer I have. That being said if a good 8 or better comes passing through during the rut there is a good chance I let one fly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So after determining where my big buck is coming from I don’t like my stand placement on my plot. I figured setting up a blind would be easier than moving or hanging another stand. What do you guys think of this blind set up. It’s on the south west side of the plot and any time afternoon the deer will have sun in their eyes any time they look my direction. Also downwind from any of the trails into the plot with a steep ridge behind it. What do you guys think Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I started out hunting alone gun Only. Then picked up a hunting buddy who hunted with me a lot for a few seasons. Now I would say 90% of my hunting is solo. The only day I’m guaranteed to have at least one other person at camp is opening day. I do have to say I enjoy them both. It is nice to have the help after a harvest and the camaraderie around camp. As said earlier in this thread it’s also very cool to have that last goodbye and good luck in the woods before we split up and go to our spots. Can’t wait to be in the woods next week! My first few hunts this year will for sure be solo. Well not really many of you will be on the live from the woods thread with me. Last year I was on the thread chatting with Biz when he told me to pay attention that I would kill a buck in I think he said 17 minutes. He called it down to the min. This site has kept me going in the woods many a time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would hunt a back corner of the orchard in the afternoon. Find a lightly used train in and set up about 30 yards into the woods 20 yards off the trail Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
