  1. I just made a offer on this land and was wondering where you all would put stands, I know it's hard without scouting, but I've never really hunted land with a river bottom before.... There are two 40+ acer corn fields just off the top left corner of the pic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. . I guess I'll put it back up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. So I am looking at a new hunting camp in Sullivan county, after checking out our first choice I noticed that the soil seems to be very firm almost clay like, any suggestions on what to plant? Also the place is mostly wooded, with only 3 acers cleared right around the house, there is a stream that runs through the property and the river bed seems to offer some really good soil, would it be a bad idea to plant right along the river bed? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. What about the basement of your building Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Today I drove from rockland county to Binghamton and back.... On the way there I took rt17 I saw 5 dead deer and a small dead black bear.... On the way home I took 81 to 84 and saw 7 dead deer I'd say those are pretty high numbers for this time of year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Sea robins

I've heard the tails are very good, kinda taste like lobster. On the other hand the spines on their back have a poison in them and can be very painful if you get stuck. For that reason i have never bothered to keep one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. So we went out again this morning adjusted our set up from yesterday set up decoys waited for the sky to turn grey and started to lightly cluck...... Within minuets we had gobbling no more than 50 yards away.... It turned out to be 3 jakes all rooster together.... After talking back and forth with them for 20 min or so they decided to leave the roost... They flew down to our right... Gobbled a few more times and then ignored my calls and went in the other direction never to be seen again.... Any Idea what we did wrong ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. So I went on my first real turkey hunt today, I have killed turkeys before but only as a byproduct of deer hunting..... God was it fun. I went with my friend who is also my deer hunting partner. We got in the woods around 5 set up some decoys and started calling...... With in 5 min i we heard a loud gobble coming from stright in front of us.... I kept calling and he kept gobbling.... After 10 min we were able to locate him in a tree about 50 yards from us.... As the sun came up he kept gobbling but flew down to our right and disappeared.... After 10 min of silence and no response to my calls we heard a gobble to our left... I called and he gobbled back... And now the bird who had gone off to our right joined in...we could tell they weren't coming closer and decide to move 30 yards in the direction of the bird on the right... We kept calling and he started to come closer.... We watched him cross the road and come into our little section of timber..... He was not alone.... It was two small jakes together.... We called them to within 30 yards but did not shoot because they were just too small.... It was a blast and we will be back out tomorrow morning Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I agree with the larger parcel, my family just sold a 35 acer plot that was surrounded by 400 acer's of woods that we could hunt..... These two lots we are looking at actually border eachother and are surrounded by 500 acer's of woods that we would have permission to hunt either way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks guys that is all great information Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. So, I am looking to buy property in Sullivan county, I have narrowed it down to two lots 1 is 15 acer's and the other is 40 both would have to be logged and land cleared before I could build a house, has anyone ever done this before, does it cost money or will someone pay me to log the land? What are the going rates for either? If someone was to pay me would it be enough to supplement some of the cost of the land purchase..... Also the callicoon creek borders both lots... Does anyone know if I can even log or build near the creek..... Thanks in advance for your responses Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. . It's really good, it's in the same parking lot as pastinas Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. It depends on the hunt, if it's at camp and close to the house, and just a half day sit almost nothing, rifle ammo water knife... If it's at camp all day sit add snacks and the other stuff that stays in my pack.... Not at camp area I don't know or over night lots more Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
