Could only last three hours in the wet heavy snow. Didn’t see a thing. Packed up the cabin to head back to the city. Naturally there’s an 8 pt on my cabin road. About halfway home I realized I left the apple pie I picked up for dinner in the fridge. Happy Thanksgiving.

Moved from one stand to another and was busted by a single doe halfway there and another two under the stand I was heading toward. Now I need lessons on how not to move like a pregnant yak.

There is a bench at the 3/4 point but no oaks. Every year prior to this there have been scrapes on that spot. Hmmm...

Don’t think they’re bedding on my property. I do have movement all year from high to low in the morning.

Not having a lot of luck but I have tomorrow and Thursday morning. I have 25 acres top and bottom of a ridge. Heavy woods. The deer tend to travel down to my water or water below me. Two stands on the ridge and a ground blind on the lower part. I also have access to three stands below me - gentle slope down to swampy area and one good plot. I haven’t seen a thing this week. I’m also very novice, so my skills aren’t great in reading land. I was busted a few times in early October. Where would you hunt tomorrow? Top ridge in stands? Bottom land in stands? Time of day? Thanks.

One of those unknown and overlooked spots that produces well for me. That was a bust. Came up Sunday to find tracks in the snow to my pond and across my ridge, I thought I’d have a real shot. Didn’t see a damn thing. I guess I have a few more opportunities if the snow holds off enough for me to get up here. Then, I’m calling 4SW!

About to head out for the next three hours. If nothing happens I just may go fishing on the Esopus tomorrow.

My guess is that he knows. As much as I hate to I may just walk away. At least now I know where all my deer are.

Man, sat this morning. Nothing. Sat this afternoon. Nothing. Beginning to think I totally suck at this. On another note, a neighbour - nice guy, Eastern European, barely speaks English - stopped by and while we were chatting offered to let me hunt his stands. I’ve never been on his property so wanted to check them out. As I walked up I noticed a lot of deer tracks in the snow. Came to the stand to see a salt block and auto feeder with corn everywhere. Second stand has the same set up. Really don’t know what to do. Don’t feel right about reporting him and not sure I want to confront him. Probably won’t see him again until the spring.

For me to get to Bloomville (4O) from Central Harlem is 3 hours under the best conditions. If I need to pick up groceries, wine, supplies; add an hour. See what you can reasonably handle. Or buy Table on Ten In Bloomvilke and just move up here.

CVA guys. Is the nitride barrel worth it? I wanted an Optima with a black stock but it looks like it only comes with SS. Nitride is reserved for camo stocks which I don't particularly want.

You have an option to buy open sights, rings or scope, but trying to find the exact configuration in a shop is tough. I may just try Bud's. By the way, what makes a scope ML specific?
