  1. Ended the rifle season not seeing a deer only had the snow on the ground for two days. Going to hunt my property with the muzzle loader and crossbow this week. My property is more of an afternoon area,I’ll be sleeping in a little and doing some chores around here. The trapping hasn’t produced anything yet. I took a walk around and set a few dog proofs and trail cams the only thing I got on cam was a few deer and a porcupine. It looks like ether someone trap or the beaver moved on my pond is a stream again. I’m not complaining those things are very destructive. Hopefully the late season produces. 2. I once shot a doe with her fawn(BB) when she ran he followed her then came running back like he saw a ghost. I still think about the way that deer looked running away when ever I see a button buck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Well I found fresh tracks the only problem was they went both ways. It took me a while but I figured which where on top and followed them for an hour then a coyote joined in but left. The tracks went into a swap that I could go thru,so I went around it but couldn’t pick them up or it stayed in the swamp. Pretty cool I might give it another try there tomorrow. There’s still a lot of guys hunting for the last week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. 30* light west wind heading to the park again have a few more spots picked out. Four more days and looks wet for most of them. Congrats and good luck everyone!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I’m not sure, but I’m thinking of giving it a shot in the spring. There where a bunch of little pools and under cuts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Having trouble posting Got out to the park this morning snowing pretty good. Both the areas I wanted to hunt had trucks parked already, so I went up the road a few miles and headed in followed a stream for 4 miles never cut a track crossed over and headed out. Beautiful area with plenty of old rubs just didn’t see anything. Looking forward to tomorrow’s adventure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Two coils on the MB’s. I haven’t been able to get out yet it’s been steady down pours here. Hopefully tomorrow there calling for 1-3” of snow so after the morning hunt I’m going to try and put out a few sets. I’m using dry cat food in the dog proofs and don’t want it to clump up. 8. I'm heading back up for the last week of rifle and late muzzle loader/crossbow. I have to put in for vacation a year in advance,so i took the last week of rifle and the week of late muzzy hoping for snow,But in keeping with this year my 4x4 broke and i'll be using my AWD which means i'll be limited to pavement only.No biggie i'm still pumped for it.Being that i got a doe during the early muzzleloader with my inline i'm going to use my caplock and crossbow. I'm more excited about setting a few traps out for the first time. The weather doesn't look to bad with a few small snow falls, but all so a lot of rain. Here's my doe from the early season. There was no harvest thread for the muzzleloader or i couldn't find it. Good luck to everyone still hunting and congrats to all the successful !!!!!!
  9. It’s pretty much the same out East. They stopped hunting on Martin Luther day because of the bicyclers. There’s really no quiet places to hunt on Long Island. I used to hunt a spot that had no houses around it and still encountered dog walkers and mushroom pickers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Maine Bear Hunting, Maine Deer Hunting, Maine Moose Hunting at Oxbow Outfitters, LLC. (oxbowlodge.com) If they have the rockland show this winter there usually there,If any outfitter tells you theres bears average 300lbs. or better walk away the average Maine is around 150lbs. If the border opens head over to New Brunswick,Canada Way more bear sightings and bigger bears for sure. 11. I upgraded my trail cams to browning's and would like to cut down on the sun line[?] pictures. I heard Dr.kroll say to face them north.but it hasn't helped.I've been trying all different positions even moving them up and tilting them down.Is it just a normal thing or is there away to avoid it?
  12. I picked up two pairs of dryshod boots after some recommendations on here.I went with the southland for spring turkey and early deer seasons. I also picked up a pair of NOSHO gusset XT for the late season. I haven't used the gusset's yet so all I can tell you is there built like a tank and a lot bigger/bulker then the southlands.I wore the southlands during the spring turkey season and the bow/muzzleloader I like them a lot.My feet did sweat a bit .but the poly socks worked great. Hunting Archives - Dryshod Waterproof Boots (dryshodusa.com) I got them for a good price at boot barn
  13. I agree with you 100% with all the technology today no one should be standing in line to get out after sunrise to hunt.
  14. You are correct it does say November first and two hunters per vehicle,But not many hunters follow the rules out here on the island.I've never hunted that park but used to park in a one car spot go in and when i got out there'd be up to five sometimes more.Talking to my brother the other day i asked him if it's still going on he said hell ya.It doesn't seem to bother him at all.He shot a nice six pointer two days ago someone walking by kicked it over to him. It's not for everyone that's why i gave it up eight years ago. BTW the op posted this Monday NOVEMBER 16th
  15. I don't hunt long island anymore[except shotgun] it's out of control not many follow the rules plus all the non-hunters that are entitled to use the land. You need to try and find an area away from all that. Most hunters gravitate to the same area it's the guy's that think outside the box that have more success. My brother does very well and he's only been hunting a few years. It's hard to go deeper on long island without popping out on a trail. If i remember correctly the biggest park is only 3000 acers with trails all through it.At this time of the year[rut] it's a crap shoot a buck can show up anytime or place.I was racking leaves in my yard this afternoon when is guy popped out.We had a stare down for a few seconds then i moved and let him go on his way.
  16. Looks Great I agree with the hogue grips my single six came with them i replaced them with rosewood.
  17. I guess i'll never understand it. I don't have competitive bone in my body.I actually stopped hunting and fishing with a few guys that where to damn competitive.
  18. I've been wanting that same GP100 for a long time.Good luck with and the rifle.
  19. What do you see that tells you it was farm raised ??
